FANTASY BASEBALL DAILY BEAST MODE

GIANCARLO ‘DON’T CALL ME MIKE’ STANTON

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

The transition from Giancarlo to Mike Stanton has been a shaky roller coaster at BEST for the potential Hall of Fame player. When he was Mike, Hall of Fame was written all over the wall. As Giancarlo..He has been injured multiple times, most notable the Fast Ball to the Head which made him wear a phantom’s mask.

Giancarlo. Giancarlo. Zero HRs on the season.

Someone who is capable of hitting a HR on every at-bat, a player who is also capable of going 1-4 with a single and a run by the time the game is over.

Whatever Giancarlo we know and have seen over the years, the Giancarlo we see tonight when he faces Jamie Garcia who is struggling to find his strikeout pitch, is a Giancarlo I want on my Daily Fantasy Roster.

Yes Giancarlo is pricey at $4,700 on DRAFTKINGS, which makes him more expensive than Yoenis Cespedes who is coming off of a 3 HR night. But this matchup against Garcia is a good example in why you trust the ultimate power BEAST to rake his numbers.

On FanDuel Giancarlo is right where you want him at $3,700.

I could go more into detail in why you want Giancarlo on your team, but I will leave you with this.

If you are playing Daily Fantasy Baseball Tonight, Giancarlo is MUST-OWN

THE POWER SQUAD:

BEAST 5 HOME RUN HITTERS

By Muntradamus

When you’re at a baseball game, and you see a player hit a HR over the fence. There is nothing to do besides give respect for that player. Whether it is the Hometown star, or it is a backup catcher on the opposite team. The HR ball deserves respect.

I have now called the HR Champion 4 YEARS IN A ROW. A feat that no Expert has done in FantasyPros History.

MARK TRUMBO 2016 ARTICLE

Chicks dig the long ball. Fantasy Sports players dig the long ball.

Here are my 5 Candidates for HOME RUN CHAMPION.

Before I get into the list, I just want to show something FantasyPros just released.

The Top Expert Picks at each position.

 There are 57 FantasyPros Experts.

I Dominate this list. This is not the first year this has happened either.

 #1

CHRIS DAVIS

ADP 77

If you want to go to Vegas with a large sum of money, and put it on a HR Champion. Chris Davis is definitely your guy.

Last season he played who knows how long with a dislocated finger that required offseason surgery, and he still hit 38 Home Runs. He has been the HR Champion in 2013/2015 (Both years I ranked him in that position). The reason 2014 was thrown off was due to the birth of his child which came just as the Power Hitter finally found his groove. After returning from a few days off, the rhythm was never the same and he low key blamed it on his child by saying it was rough waking up in the middle of the night all the time.

Chris Davis is the heart and soul of power baseball. His pop flys explode off the bat, and he will ding 50+ in the American League East.

#2

CHRIS CARTER

ADP 259

Carter is nothing but a PURE POWER BEAST.

He spent his first 6 season of Baseball in the American League West. The A’s traded him because his POWER or nothing attitude really does not fit the Billy Beane style. He went to Houston where he raked 29 HRs in 2013 then followed that up with 37 HRs in 2014.

The Astros did not give Carter time to bounce back after a slow start in 2015, they also knew they were not going to re-sign him. So he went to Milwauke in 2016 and ended up leading the National League in Home Runs. Co-Champion with Nolan Arenado. Who plays in Coors Field..

Now the Yankees signed Chris Carter.

Carter is a guy who can blast 40+ Homeruns in the NL Central. Now he goes to a softball field in New York.

In his 3 career lifetime trips to Yankee Field as a member of the A’s/Astros. He hit a HR in each one of those series. That is some serious clutch hitting to hit a HR everytime you visit Yankee Stadium.

Yankees have Greg Bird (Coming off Shoulder Surgery) and a pair of aging OF options in Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner. Matt Holliday can always slide into the OF, and Chris Carter will find his way in the lineup nearly every game. The Yankees have nothing to lose on a 1 year deal, and Chris Carter has everything to gain.

Chris Carter is available after Round 20 in every Fantasy Baseball Draft, and he is an easy sleeper that leads the majors in the Home Runs.

#3

NELSON CRUZ

ADP 38

The guy hits straight up missiles off his bat.

If you have not had the pleasure of watching Nelson Cruz HR Footage in your lifetime, check it out on Youtube. I do not know if Nelson Cruz puts explosives in the inside of his bat, but I would hate to be in front of any ball this guy hits.

Nelson Cruz is 36 years old, some would say that is too old. I say age is just a number, unless it’s Football or Basketball. Nelson Cruz was born to hit baseballs harder than person on this earth and the Mariners are stacked in 2017. The addition of Jean Segura to set the table for Nelson Cruz who still has Robinson Cano batting in front of him, it is going to be a fun year to root for the Mariners.

Psychologically, when a pitcher has to face Robinson Cano, and be so perfect with every single pitch. Then have to do the same thing over again with Nelson Cruz. It is hard to keep that type of focus, especially with Kyle Seager somewhere in the mix with Jean Segura’s speed on the base path.

If a pitcher throws a fastball that is not fast enough, and Nelson Cruz has that pitch on his robot tracker.

BOOOOOOOOOM

#4

GIANCARLO STANTON

ADP 36

We look at a player like Sammy Sosa, who is truly one of the best power hitters in the history of the game. And we see Sammy Sosa and his digression after he took a fastball off the side of the head.

It is hard to argue we are not seeing the same thing with Stanton. Giancarlo does not appear to be comfortable after taking the fast ball to the face. Wearing that shield protector definitely helps, but if throw him inside pitches with movement. Giancarlo is a deer in the headlights.

With that being said, Stanton and his POWER is second to none. He hits Homeruns with no effort at all. You throw him a changeup that forgets to changeup, and he will hit that ball out of the ball park as if it was Steph Curry shooting a Free Throw.

Last season was a rough one of the Marlins. Barry Bonds coming into town put pressure on Stanton to perform like a Hall of Fame Champion. Dee Gordon was suspended for steroids. R.I.P. Jose.

Things will be a lot calmer in 2017 for Miami. Giancarlo Stanton will start to be more Giancarlo Stanton, and he is an easy candidate to lead the majors in Home Runs if the pitches and the breaks go Miami’s way.

Nobody does it as easy as Giancarlo who can Homer off of any pitcher, even hit 2 against Kershaw in Dodger Stadium last year. A game I went to.

#5

MARK TRUMBO

ADP 76

Trum-BEAST.

The guy killed it last year in the American League East in his first season, and it would not be that surprising to see him do it again. Trumbo is only 31 Years Old, Age is just a number, unless it’s Football or Basketball.

What makes Trumbo so unique as a power hitter besides the fact that if you’re a soft lefty you are better off intentionally walking him. What makes him unique is his pop. All the balls off his bat seem to go in the air, which means he has perfected the power swing. When you play in Yankee Stadium/Camden Yards, and Fenway for a good portion of your season. Pop Flys in those stadiums usually result in Home Runs.

The Orioles should be a better team in 2017. Mark Trumbo will benefit from all of it.

FANTASY BASEBALL 2016: THE RETURN OF THE BEAST (GIANCARLO STANTON)

FANTASY BASEBALL 2016:

THE RETURN OF THE BEAST

(GIANCARLO STANTON)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Many will argue who the best hitter in Major League Baseball History is. If I had to throw in my vote, it would hands down go to Barry Bonds. Besides the entire start of his career where he put up, 30 HR/30 SB, seasons without even trying. Which would make him potentially the #1 pick in today’s Fantasy Baseball.

Steroids version of Bonds was a BEAST that we will never see again. The fact Bonds was able to smash 73 Home Runs at 36 Years old is beyond amazing. The fact that Bonds also did it at AT&T Ball Park where Home Runs are so rare that if any Giant hit 40 Home Runs in a season today, everyone would treat him like a god. How can you not give Barry Bonds credit. On top of it all, he was walked 177 times that season as he had no protection in that order, which means he had to make every one of his 476 At Bats count, with the few good pitches he saw.

Barry Bonds faced some of the best pitchers in the last quarter Century. Randy Johnson/Pedro Martinez/Greg Maddux, you name it, every super star pitcher in the 90’s who are on a whole completely level better than today’s pitching stars like Clayton Kershaw and David Price.

Barry Bonds was infamous for many things in his career, one of them being he would never share his hitting secret’s with his teammates. Bonds felt that he could teach a player something one day, and then end up seeing that player traded to a team that faced him in a pivotal game.

The Miami Marlins now have Barry Bonds as a hitting coach. Which means, Barry Bonds is about to share his hitting secrets with a player that could hit a baseball 10x as far as Bonds could during the best days of his career. Giancarlo Stanton, meet your Yoda.

THE RETURN OF THE BEAST

(GIANCARLO STANTON)

Giancarlo Stanton hits Home Runs so far, even Dodger Stadium was not able to handle one of his bombs in 2015 that ended up in parking lot. When you look at the new Marlins Ball Park that opened up in 2012, it has been considered for most part a pitchers ball park especially with the high walls nearly 12 feet high. The walls made it very hard to launch Home Runs, especially with Center Field over 420+ Feet away. With the Marlins attendance struggling, and the 2017 Home Run Derby and All-Star Game being hosted in their park. The Marlins spent $500,000 to alter the walls and bring some higher scoring action to the fans.

First they are bringing the wall in from Center over 11 Feet. They are shortening the distance between Left Center and Right Center, as well as lowering the walls 4 feet. They now stand at 7 Feet tall, which is more than easy to see a line drive laser go into the 3rd row. Giancarlo Stanton will now also be able to get some of those power pop flys, turn into excuse me Home Runs.

With the Ball Park now in Giancarlo’s favor, the next thing to see is if the Marlins fixed their lineup protection. The Marlins have left Giancarlo Stanton without another Bash Brother his entire career. Imagine if Miguel Cabrera was still a Marlin with Stanton..

Well stop imagining it, because once again the Marlins left Giancarlo dry not signing any new starting hitters. Sure Christian Yelich has potential to be a great #2 Hitter in his MLB Career, and Dee Gordon can turn a walk into a run better than many. There is still no true Bash Bro in this lineup as Marcell Ozuna, Justin Bour, and J.T. Realmuto are nothing more than good potential young hitters.

Regardless that Giancarlo Stanton does not have any true protection, which means he will see more breaking balls and pitchers can focus all their energy and spend more time studying in films rooms how to slow Stanton down. It does not matter. Barry Bonds is now his hitting coach. If there was anybody who was in this situation that has done better than Barry Bonds, Giancarlo Stanton is the only player that can achieve it.

Barry Bonds is the light at the end of the tunnel for Giancarlo’s career to go to a Hall of Fame Level instantly. At 26 Years Old, Stanton has already three seasons of 34+ Home Runs. The only reason he has not hit 30+ with his eyes closed every season is because of injuries (Besides Rookie Season Late Call Up). Stanton has missed time with leg injuries, hamstring, eye problems, and most notable of all, the infamous Fast Ball that broke Stanton’s Face. Last season he proved he was done with his fear and dropped the batting helmet with the face protector.

MY GIANCARLO BUST ARTICLE 2015

PHANTOM OF THE DRAFT

Predicting a Home Run in today’s MLB is close to sorcery. If you have the chance to get the clear favorite to lead the MLB in Home Runs, how can you not draft him in all leagues. Giancarlo Stanton is the Kobe Bryant of the Marlins, he is going to be on that team for the rest of his career and the Marlins Organization is giving Stanton all the tools for their $325 Million Dollar Investment pay off. From signing Barry Bonds who wants to start his legacy as the greatest hitting coach, to the Outfield Walls. Ignore the ADP of Mid-Late 1st Round. You have the potential to get a player that will hit 50+ Home Runs.

BEAST DOME NATION.

When people enter their draft room in the upcoming weeks. It is going to be hard for plenty to pass on the BEAST power OF option in Giancarlo Stanton. While many believe Stanton is the best hitter in baseball, a lot of people are considering a very important X-Factor when choosing the BEAST from the NL East. This is the type of X-Factor analysis which seperates BEAST DOME from the other Fantasy Baseball Sites.

BUST: GIANCARLO STANTON

Power. Yes.

Speed. Yes.

Scarring experience to end the season. Yes.

While you can say, “Giancarlo will brush it off.” The truth is he will not. When hitters get hit in the head with a pitch, to the point where it leaves them in a state of blackout. They will never be the same confident hitter.

Best example of this was Sammy Sosa.

Sammy Sosa got hit on April 20th. After that moment he only hit 1 HR from that April 21st-June 10th. Eventually Sosa shrugged it off and hit 30 HRs the last three months of the season, but the point is there is a HUGE shock rate that comes when getting hit. Sosa only lasted two more season in the MLB after this incident and eventually retired even though he still had 30+ HR potential in his bat.

Back to Giancarlo..

After the incident, Giancarlo created a custom batting helmet for himself to avoid the potential of being in the face again.

Stantonhelmet2

A few things bother me about this situation.

1) Mentally he is clearly bothered by the situation. Very extreme to be going to this new batting helmet.

2) What happens when he gets in the head again by a pitch.

3) While Spring Training is just Spring Training. He only has 1 HR in 20+ games. If Giancarlo does not hit 35+ HR’s this season, he is a BUST. Even then he is not over the top worth a 1st Round Pick. There is no reason to spend a 1st round pick on a player who goes 32/100/10. While those numbers look nice, someone like Matt Holliday can easily approach him and he goes 6-7 Rounds later.

OF RANKINGS (VIP ONLY)

There is too much risk in taking Giancarlo Stanton not only in the 1st Round, but the 2nd and 3rd Round as well. There is no lock he is ever comfortable with this batting helmet, and there is no lock he does not get in the head again leaving himself unsure and confident at the plate.

MUNTRADAMUS 2015 PREDICTION

GIANCARLO STANTON – MIA

33 HR. 107 RBI. 7 SB. 82 Runs. .281 Average

OF RANK #10

Every Fantasy Expert is steering everyone to taking Giancarlo in the 1st Round as an automatic Top 7 Pick. You now have the knowledge to avoid a land mine, and take a much more valuable Hanley Ramirez in Round 1 who will give you the same production, but at the SS position. Even with a good season, unless Giancarlo leads the MLB in Home Runs. He is not worth a 1st Round Pick.

Fantasy Baseball Injury Outlook: So Call Me Maybin (Week 8)

Fantasy Baseball Injury Outlook:

So Call Me Maybin (Week 8)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

We are now reaching a point of the Fantasy Baseball season where you can get a pretty good sample size of your players and what to expect.  Nearly every superstar has now had their bad streaks and good streaks, some players like Chris Davis have yet to really experience a bad streak.

The important thing to remember is, we still have 4+ Months left of the season.  With that being said, there are a bunch of new Fantasy Players, or players who have been injured for a majority of the season who are about to be healthy.  On the flip-side, players like Ian Kinsler and Austin Jackson just went on the DL.  This article will take a look at a few of major impacts in the Fantasy Baseball world.

FANDUEL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALIST

CHAMPION

#1

IAN KINSLER – 2B – TEX

INJURY: Intercoastal Strain.

EXPECTED RETURN: Early June.

When I read the injury reports, and the reactions from Kinsler and Ron Washington.  This sounds like an excuse to get Jurckison Profar some MLB Playing Time.  Kinsler will come back sooner than later, and no matter how good Profar is.  It is hard to see him overtake Elvis Andrus, unless Profar plays like Everth Cabrera.

For these next two weeks you can add Profar and hope to get a good boost in SBs/Runs and maybe batting average.  But chances are this is not enough time for Profar to make a big Fantasy Impact.

#2

MARK TEIXEIRA – 1B – NYY

INJURY: Wrist.

EXPECTED RETURN: May 30th

The Yankees just got Curtis Granderson back, and now they are expecting one of the best cleanup hitters in the game Mark Teixeira to make a return very soon.  The Yankees amazingly are 1st Place in the AL East despite missing Granderson/A-Rod/Jeter and Tex for a majority of the season.  Now that Tex is coming back, he could put this Yankee team over the top.

With the return of Tex, comes the bench time for Lyle Overbay.  While it was great to see Lyle knock out HRs consistently and be a rock in the back of the Yankee order, it is hard to see Lyle replacing Travis Hafner as DH.

As far as Tex goes.  Wrist injuries are the worst injury for hitters.  Tex is better than most and once he gets his power stroke going, it will not stop.  While 30 HRs seems to be stretching it a little bit, 20+ seems realistic.

The Yankees expect Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez to return around or after the All-Star Break.  Kevin Youkilis and that ailing back seems to be heading in the wrong direction everyday.

#3

DAVID PRICE – SP – TB

INJURY: Left Triceps

EXPECTED RETURN DATE: Early June

If you own David Price, you likely have a headache at this point and are willing to sell him for anything attractive.  This could be the biggest mistake any Fantasy Owner could make as David Price is at a prime. BUY LOW. stage.

Price was finally starting to get it together in his last couple of starts before suffering the injury.  While many worry that this happened to his pitching arm, it is not believed to be serious at all.  If a pitcher in MLB needed time to reset and get his mind together, besides R.A. Dickey, David Price is that guy.  Price has gone from early CY Young Favorite, to BUST, to solid starter.

Fantasy Baseball is a long season, and while a pitching arm injury is something to worry about.  It is not something you should worry about if you are a young stud.  David Price can rehab knowing that he is starting to head in the right direction, and the Rays offense is really starting to click on all cylinders.  Expect Price to comeback a new animal.

Chris Archer may make a few spot-starts.  He could easily be the best Minor-League pitcher in the game today, if the matchup looks good on paper, he is a good start.

#4

COREY HART – 1B/OF – MIL

INJURY: Knee

EXPECTED RETURN: Mid-June

Corey Hart is not getting healthy at the pace we once expected.  But he will eventually be healthy, and he will be a Fantasy Force for 3.5+ Months of the Fantasy Baseball season.  Corey Hart is one of the few players in this league that can consistently hit 30 HRs while driving in 100 RBIs with ease.

The most important factor to Corey Hart is a few things.

1) Yuniesky Betancourt will lose everyday PT.

2) All Brewers will get a Fantasy Boost for more RBI/Run opportunities.

Corey Hart is going to make the Brewers better, and your fantasy roster.  Make sure he is not sitting on your waiver wire too long if you have the space to stash him.

#5

ROY HALLADAY – SP – PHI

INJURY: Torn Rotator Cuff

EXPECTED RETURN: Late July

Although Roy Halladay is an attractive name.  I would never go out of my stash him this long.  There are too many risks involved in keeping Hallday on your roster.

1) He may be horrible like he once was upon his return.

2) You will be passing up on great waiver wire pitching prospects throughout the season.

While Roy Halladay once was a 1st/2nd Round Pick in Fantasy Baseball as early as last season.  Those days are far from gone, and now it is time to accept fate and realize you did not check out my Pre-season Fantasy Baseball Pitcher Rankings.

#6

GIANCARLO STANTON – OF – MIA

INJURY: Hamstring

EXPECTED RETURN: TBA

This is bad, really bad, Michael Jackson bad.

The Fact that Giancarlo still has no return date means a few things.

1) He is not close to healthy.

2) The Marlins may not know when he is truly 100% again.  Which could lead to another quick trip to the DL.

While Giancarlo has all the power in the world.  Now would be the time to either Buy-Low or Sell-High pending on your situation. If you can give up a Torii Hunter type player to get Stanton.  Take the risk.  A Torii Hunter type player is a player who will not hit 20+ HRs or steal 20+ bases.  But he has a big name and seems to be overhyped.

If you own Giancarlo, and you have the ability to trade him for a valuable Fantasy Player.  Now is an okay time to make the move.  Look for a player like Starlin Castro if you’re lucky, but do not be afraid to settle for a Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Quentin combo.  Find a way to keep your team moving, because a hamstring injury to a player of his size could mean bad things.

#7

HANLEY RAMIREZ – 3B/SS – LAD

Injury: Hamstring

EXPECTED RETURN: Mid-Late June

Hanley is easily the Dodgers best player this season.  In the short-time he returned from the DL, there was a whole new energy on the team, and it appeared the early season struggles of this team were coming to an end.  Hanley returned from a thumb injury, then quickly found himself on the DL again because of a hamstring injury.

We know that Hanley is a quick healer, and it would not come as a surprise to see him return closer to Mid-June than Late-June.

Now would be a great time to Buy-Low and find a way to put him on your Fantasy Team.  While his price-tag is still high, it is still worth every penny as Hanley is ready to play at a 1st Round Level.

Once he returns, looks for him to be the #2 SS behind Troy Tulowtizki, ahead of Jean Segura.  If you can package Rollins and another solid player to get him, I would make the move.

#8

AARON HILL – 2B – ARI

Injury: Hand

EXPECTED RETURN: TBA

Hill seems at least the end of June, maybe Mid-July as possibly the earliest return date.  Hill is a great 2B option when 100% as there are not many others who can mash HRs and steal bases as the rate he can.  Think of a Kelly Johnson type player with more all-around talent, but less than Chase Utley.

Hill’s hand is still very raw, which means the D-Backs will be patient.  If you can sell him for any value, take the trade.  If he is on the waiver wire, stash him if you can afford to.  Otherwise, let Aaron be.

#9

MICHAEL CUDDYER – 1B/OF – COL

Injury: Neck

EXPECTED RETURN: Friday

Cuddyer is a prime Sell-High candidate once you get the chance to do so.  Wait for Cuddyer to come back, mash a few HRs and then sell him for pitching help, or look to upgrade a weak position player.

While Cuddyer does offer 25-30 HR potential this season, as well as 10+ SBs.  Michael is a very replaceable bat in Fantasy Baseball, and there is no reason to hold on longer than you need to if you have other weaknesses.  Although I love Mike and do continue to expect to see him do better.

I would be happier if I could move him for a player that brings a lot of value to my team.

#10

CAMERON MAYBIN – OF – SD

Injury: Wrist

EXPECTED RETURN: Early June

Cameron Maybin has 40-50 SB potential over a full MLB season.  He could also one day approach 15 HRs with ease.  2012 was a step in the wrong direction for Cameron, and an early wrist injury in 2013 is exactly what Maybin owners did not want to see.

Chances are Cameron is a Free Agent in all leagues, which means now is a good time to swoop on the OF option who could change the game.  You will likely have a few games for owners to wait and see how he does, but all it takes is 2-3 SBs in one series and everyone will be all over Cameron.

There are very few players who can hit 10 HRs and steal 40+ Bases.  While the power is likely gone thanks to the wrist injury, his speed is intriguing.

PITCHERS RETURNING THIS WEEK

JOHNNY CUETO

Cueto is back and he should be ready to mow down hitters like he never missed a beat.  Cueto is one of the best pitchers in the game today, and the fact he is pitching Twice makes him Must-Start out of the gates.

MATT GARZA

Garza is ready to make his season debut after dominating in a couple AAA starts.  Look for Garza to really be the Ace of the Cubs Staff, and with the way this Cubs offense is playing.  Matt could possibly come up with some upset wins.

PITCHERS RETURNING SOON

JOSH BECKETT

Beckett has bust written all over him for the Rest of 2013.  The good news about Beckett is that the Dodgers have yet to hit their stride, and usually when a team starts doing very well, everyone starts doing very well.  Do not give up faith on Josh, but do not give him too much respect.  If he is on your wire, he is not a bad speculative add, but keep his leash short.

JERED WEAVER

Continue to hold onto Weaver and expect a return date Early June.  Hard to say if he going to be the pitcher we all expected him to be, but I would still hold my breath and make sure he is not on any Waiver Wire.  If you can get him for a good price of a Wade Miley + Good Position Player.  Make the trade.
