Fantasy Football Waiver: Starks Your Engine (Week 3)

Fantasy Football Waiver:

Starks Your Engine (Week 3)

BEAST DOME NATION.

James Starks is back.  Yes, the same James Starks who I told everyone to own last season when Cedric Benson went down.  The Packers went straight to Alex Green and were happy enough with his 3 yards per carry.  Sunday James broke out as one of the Top 5 RBs having a BEASTLY 120+ Yards and a TD.  His long-term success relies on the health of Eddie Lacy.  If there is one thing for certain, this could be the start of the RBBC in Green Bay.

QB

RYAN TANNEHILL – QB – MIA

I have been promoting his all Preseason, and now he delivers with a nice 300 Yard game.  He is not a Top 10 QB, but he can find himself in the mid 15s more often than not.  Add him if you have Josh Freeman.

RB

JAMES STARKS – GB – RB

Hard to say if James Starks is going to be more than a one week wonder, but he does have his chance to make a statement for at least one game.  James will likely be somewhere in the Mid-20 Range at RB.  See if you can pick him up, at the very least you take him away from another owner.  I do not see much long-term potential.

BILAL POWELL – NYJ – RB

The Jets are going to be losing a lot of games, which means Powell will be seeing his garbage time more often than not.  Not a bad addition if you are thin at RB.  Not a great one either.

JASON SNELLING vs. JACQUIZZ RODGERS

Both players will be splitting time while Steven Jackson is out with his quad injury.  Neither player is Must-Own and will be RB#3 at very best, small edge to Snelling because of Redzone touches.

BERNARD PIERCE – RB – BAL

With Ray Rice potentially missing next weeks game, Bernard Pierce is a good addition off the Waiver Wire.  If you own Ray Rice, he is Must-Own.

WR

EDDIE ROYAL – SD – WR

At first I was not a big believer on Eddie Royal.  When Malcolm Floyd went down for what looks like a season ending injury, you might as well add him.  His potential is really #3 WR, but he has been playing like a #1.  I would pick him with the upside of being a better Lance Moore.

CHRIS GIVENS – STL – WR

With the way Sam Bradford has been throwing the ball, Givens belong on the bottom of at least one teams bench in every league.  He will be inconsistent, but he can get the deep bomb like he’s Desean Jackson.  That is about it on him.

ROD STREATER – OAK – WR

Streater may never be a good fantasy play with the way Terrelle Pryor is throwing the football.  That can all change at some point this season as Pryor gets adjusted to being a starting QB.  Good upside.

TE

CHARLES CLAY – MIA – TE

Who here had him last week as I recommended him ;)

TB D.ST

For those of you that were afraid TB would be bad, and I warned you that if they do well you will lose them for good.  Well now you better re-claim them.  Top 6 Unit.

  1. Im going with TB’s def against NEW. Nothings changed since last week for new..same people this week. They gonna pressure brady’s ass and stop the run. The pass aint no team worried about their receivers right now.. I see double digit point for TB this week.

  2. In my opinion Charles Clay has more upside. Miami is in desperate need of a reliable pass catching and blocking tight end. I don’t know if you have looked into Clay at all but he is both of those and apparently even has potential for goal line tds. Starks has the start for week 3 against a tough run defense, then a bye week, followed by the possibility of lacy back or a rbbc.

  3. Same question. If i have NE Atlanta defense in a two def league. Should i spend the waiver on TB DEF or on CHarles Clay?

    Thank you.

  4. I believe Clay was recommended during draft strategy. If you couldn’t get Gronk, recommended Julius Thomas and Fred Davis. Then Clay’s name was mentioned.

  5. TB has looked solid but with their offense not getting much going the defense is on the field a lot. Some people see that as more chances for defensive scoring…but I personally think its just more chance for the other team to get some scoring drives together dropping your DST score. If Minnesota is open they are facing a QB with only 2 starts under his belt and a 1:2 td int ratio. If they are taken the bills have a nice match up as well against the jets.

  6. Who would you start at flex? I have Ridley, mike Wallace, James Starks, giovani Bernard or joique bell as options, I have Reggie bush and Doug Martin as my RB’s and nelson and green as my WR’s I like Ridley but he has been garbage this year and is playing the bucs

  7. Browns traded Trent Richardson to the Colts for next years first round draft pick. McGahee is going to be the Browns starter so long as he passes a physical!!

  8. Wayne and Nicks, don’t think too highly of Royal until he proves himself while on the radar.

  9. I picked up Charles Clay off the waiver last week based solely on your rankings. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  10. Yes, I rather take a chance with Stark, GB should do much better than Steelers. Only reason I would want to play Ball is that I’m hoping Denver gives Ball garbage time. Plus, maybe Raiders might go crazy and pound No Show to the ground.

  11. Thanks TW87. Really have to go with Starks given the situation, still holding out hope on Ball though.

  12. if you are talking about a flex play..go starks all day. He’s gonna get all the touches at rb with rodgers moving the ball.

  13. go with your guys you drafted. nicks and wayne. Give royal 1 more game. He looks pretty elusive out that slot though, i never doubted royals ability since he been in the nfl, but injury has hurt him a lot.

  14. cant go wrong with wallace or bell.i am skins fan and our secondary is horrible, detroit will move the ball at will.

  15. yes starks this week, he will receive all the carries. We will probably have a better idea of ball’s roll by week 5 or so probably. He’s gotta get use to the whole pass blocking thing.
