MOST IMPORTANT FANTASY BASEBALL NEWS WED (4/3)

Ervin Santana gave up 3 HRs in season debut, but did K 8 batters in 6 INN.

Tim Lincecum walked 7 in his debut.  Only 5 INN and 4 K, he will not be so fortunate next time.

Michael Morse, or Ken Griffey Jr?  Morse hits another bomb giving him the MLB lead.

– Gerardo Parra will be a popular name off the waiver wire.  Anything above 15 HR/15 SB is amazing for him.

Dexter Fowler hits another HR off of John Axford.  This time a 3 run HR to put the game away in the 8th.

Chris Davis goes 4-4 with a HR in back-to-back games.  Reminding us why he was the MVP of Fantasy Baseball to close the season.  As well as why I ranked him higher than any expert.

Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols have a combined 0 Hits on the 2013 season.

Roy Halladay is going to have a season with a lot of ups and downs.  More downs than ups. 5 ER/3.1 INN/9 K in debut.

Matt Harvey K’s 10 in debut.  Must-Own/Must-Start.  Why I ranked him higher in the top 99%tile of all experts.

Chris Perez blew a save.  Vinnie Pestano would be a Must-Own Closer once the Indians reward him.  Keep him on your radar.

Gio Gonzalez pulling a Kershaw by hitting a HR and throwing a shutout.  Gio’s was only 6 INN though.

Travis Hafner my BOLD PREDICTION pick hits a HR in game #2.

Cubs Offense is really bad.

Phil Coke blew a save, bring down Brayan Villarreal.

Lance Berkman is hitting .600.  Hopefully for his sake this continues outside of the Astros pitching.

Chris Davis – What a steal in the 14th Round….Thanks!!!

My only strong relief pitcher is Ryan Madson and he might not even get the job when he comes off the DL so I’m in desperate need of a closer. I have four guys I’m looking at. Are any of them worth picking up? Or is there perhaps a buy-low RP I can try trading for?

    Ryan Cook
    Jim Henderson
    Tyler Clippard
    Joe Smith

Brendan – RP is tough, options are limited so very hard to get owners to depart with. Instead of targeting a specific RP you might have to check the teams in you league and possible target a Team that has a surplus in RP, even then you might have to give up more than you want. I’m not crazy or don’t know much about those you have listed. A couple that I”m looking into. I grabbed Fujikawa with my extra spot putting a guy on the DL. Marmol has been struggling so far this year the only catch might be Cubs might not give him alot of chances. Pestano as Muntz mentioned above is someone to watch. Valverde was picked up by Detroit on a minor league contract, Detroit is a team that will give their closer alot of opportunites, you still might have the committee thing going.

Always check at night for injuries and who was dropped on waivers. As injuries pile to SP and batters Teams in you league might start to drop RP. Good Luck!

There’s a guy in my league who is stacked at RP but week at SP. he is willing to trade Wilhelmsen but right now he wants Willin Rosario for him and there’s no way I’m doing that. I did have Janssen who picked up my only save so far this year.

Muntz’s rankings had Wilhelmsen higher than most I was hoping you could have gotten him for alot less.

Just keep you eyes open, Saves are only one category, you don’t want to sacrifice your WHIP or ERA, or give up any good pitching or hitting.

Valverde might be one to keep an eye on, Detroit has until May to make final decision.

Check for injuries or closers who struggle something will pop up.

          Good Luck!!

Dallasdavek, I wanted to say exactly the same thing! Wow Munt thank you for pushin Chris Davis, so far so gooood!

Brendan, unfortunately you will need to either wait or put up a high value piece of your hitting or SP in a trade. I would recommend waiting as Saves come up on the waivers often. Not crazy about the guys you mentioned so trade and OF or SP if you can’t wait.

    Good luck everyone!

Lovin’ Wilin Rosario and Ellsbury too right now.

      • dallasdavek April 5, 2013   Reply →

GW, glad so see you back. Hope all is well with your Team!! Those 2 have been great along with Nelson Cruiz. Ellsbury has been a little hesitant regarding SB, flashback from last year i guess.
