In the Fall of the Rookie RB’s Saga, Volume 1 we tackled a group of Rookie RB’s. In Volume 2 we talked about Omarion Hampton. Consider this Volume 3, we will talk about Kaleb Johnson. Let me tell you something, this was one I kept for the Draft Guide, but I WANTED TO SCREAM FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOPS ALL SUMMER. WHY IS KALEB JOHNSON BEING DRAFTED AHEAD OF JAYLEN WARREN?!

I still remember doing my first draft of the Summer, the one that shook me where Omarion Hampton was being drafted in the 4th round. It was about Round 9 and I was looking at the RBs on the board thinking, Jaylen Warren looks the best out of this group. I will draft Kaleb Johnson maybe in the last round as a handcuff. I selected Warren, then towards the end of the draft I was looking for Kaleb Johnson to pair him with. ‘Was I not looking at the right position?’ When I could not find his name, maybe he qualified at WR or something, like a Taysom Hill TE/QB situation. Still could not find his name. So I looked on the draft board, and there he was selected in the 6th round.

You can tell this draft was in the early part of Summer before the preseason game began as Chris Godwin was a 6th Round pick, and Brian Robinson Jr. drafted 8th Round when he was still a starting RB. When I looked back at the draft they updated the 49ers part. TreVeyon also climbed up Draft Boards, even UNDERDOG Instagram posted him as a 1st Round Pick in one of their drafts this Summer. Back to Kaleb.

Like Omarion, I looked back at the tape on Kaleb Johnson and was looking for what everyone saw. I could not see it. Jaylen Warren was a steal at every draft in his position. Then the preseason hit, and everyone saw it. Kaleb Johnson is really not that good. His draft value plummeted over the Summer, every ‘Sheep Expert’ who was touting Kaleb before the preseason were walking back their words. By the end of the Summer, Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson were both being drafted in the 8th/9th Round.

One game into the season and it is clear, Kaleb Johnson has no place on this Football team and he has no place on your Fantasy Football roster. Right now Jaylen Warren owners are more concerned over Kenneth Gainwell than Kaleb Johnson. While Kaleb Johnson owners are thinking, should they drop my 8th/9th round pick for Kenneth Gainwell?

The only reason you will see anybody holding onto Kaleb Johnson is Pride and Ego. Kaleb Johnson has little talent and he is a DISTANT 3rd on the RB depth chart for the Steelers. Maybe the worst 6th/7th/8th Round RB in Fantasy Football since Darrell Henderson. The only way Kaleb Johnson gets enough playing time to be a useable RB on your Fantasy Football roster is an injury to not just Jaylen Warren, but one to Kenneth Gainwell as well. Kaleb does not have the fastest wheels, he has a zero rating on break tackle, and his vision is nothing to write home about. In fact one fumble from Kaleb Johnson and that will just about do it for his NFL career.
