BEAST DOME NATION.

The Nation seems stronger than ever this season. Lets continue the fight to the Championship. This is only the beginning.

This is the article where I will highlight players I have ranked well lower than average Expert Ranking (Busts).  The purpose of this article is to alert you of your players having a matchup I do not like.  It does not always mean you should bench that player, but it does mean you should expect a game that is well below that players capabilities.

QB

DREW BREES – QB – NO

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #8

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #1

No doubt Drew Brees is the man.  He will throw for over 4,500 Yards and get those 30-40 TDs.  Against the Falcons is a different story.  The Saints defense is not good enough to slow down Matt Ryan.  The only way they can beat the Falcons is by controlling the clock.  The only way to control the clock is to control the ground.  Brees will likely attempt 30+ Passes as opposed to his 40-50.  Falcons defense also has the M. Night Shyamalan factor where you are not ever sure what’s going to happen with the way they line up.  A Top 10 Performance, but definitely not #1.

CAM NEWTON – QB – CAR

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #18

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #12

The Seahawks play at a different level in their secondary.  Steve Smith is not close to the fastest guy on the field, and all of those guys can knock Steve Smith out every time he touches the ball.  Greg Olsen’s speed is not fast against the Safeties and Linebackers of the Seahawks.  DeAnglo Williams will be no threat to keep the defense honest.  Bad game coming for Super Cam.

RB

MATT FORTE – RB – CHI

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #23

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #14

The Bengals have one of the best Front 7’s in the NFL.  The addition of James Harrison makes them easily one of the hardest hitting teams in the AFC.  Forte is a finesse type RB, and a Finesse type RB will be lucky to make it out of game 1 alive against this defense.  He may get those 80 Total Yards, but that TD will have to be on one long play.

DARYL RICHARDSON – RB – STL

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #39

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING # 23

The Arizona Cardinals have hard hitting linebackers, but most importantly Darnell Dockett.  If you have not watched Dockett before, you are in for a treat as he can manhandle this offensive line and give Richardson a tough time.  I would pass.

EDDIE LACY – RB – GB

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #37

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING # 25

The 49ers Defense will blow you up.  Eddie Lacy may have some raw potential that he can tap into this season, but against these linebackers he is going to be falling the other way often.  Eddie and this pass blocking offensive line will not give Lacy many carries against SF.

DEANGLO WILLIAMS – RB – CAR

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #36

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #28

DeAnglo Williams is already slower than he was a few years ago.  He also has less power.  The Seahawks play at a different speed, a speed that DeAnglo cannot compete with,

WR

BRANDON MARSHALL – WR – CHI

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #17

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING # 4

Guess what the Bengals corners got to do this week?  Guard A.J. Green as if he were Brandon Marshall.  This team already hits hard enough, but now they are prepared for Brandon and will make sure they do not allow him to beat them.  Marshall will still get his 80 yards, that TD will be hard to come by.

AJ GREEN – WR – CIN

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #21

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #5

Guess what the Bears corners go to do this week?  Guard Brandon Marshall as if he were AJ Green.  Charles Tillman is already the most physically gifted DB in the game, which makes this a matchup that AJ Green can do well with while his eyes are closed.  This defense is going to be making sure AJ Green does not beat them, and chances are it will work.

LARRY FITZGERALD – WR – ARI

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #20

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #9

The Cardinals do lack in the safety position, but they do have two excellent corners who will make sure Carson Palmer does not get his new Boy Toy.  Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins are two of the top tier DB’s in the league who will do their best to limit the Larry catches.  Larry is pretty amazing so chances are he can overcome any matchup.

RANDALL COBB – WR – GB

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #29

EXPERT CONSENS RANKING #14

Cobb is best known for his crossing routes.  Crossing routes against the hard hitting 49ers LBs will turn into crashing routes.  Cobb is not as effective against the 49ers as he will be in the upcoming weeks.

TE

MARTELLUS BENNETT – TE – CHI

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #26

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #16

Nothing is sexy about this matchup with Martellus Bennett.  He will probably be blocking often and has no matchup advantage with the Bengal LBs.  Tellus is best left for the bench in Week 1.   The goal line TD is the only thing that can save him.

K

JUSTIN TUCKER – K – BAL

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #30

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #9

Would I say won this early ranking matchup?  Tucker ended up with 9 Points in Standard leagues, chances are the 30 other NFL teams will be able to give their kickers more opportunities.  We will see how it turns out, the experts who gave him the #1 spot were off.  There was a small handful.

D/ST

BALTIMORE RAVENS – D/ST – BAL

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #26

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #18

Check mark here.  Peyton Manning shredded this defense apart with no turnovers.  That will get the job done.

IDP DL

GREG HARDY – DL – CAR

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #28

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #5

Russell Wilson is a very hard QB to sack.  When you think you have him, you never do.  Greg Hardy is very talented, but his speed may not be fast enough to keep up with the quick Russell.

IDP LB

SEAN LEE – LB – DAL

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #19

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #4

If the Giants plan on giving David Wilson the reigns, they know they have to limit his carries throughout the season.  He is a very tiny RB.  The Cowboys do have a good front 7 where the Giants may want to pass more as is, which will take Sean Lee out of the game quickly.  Something else that would be wise of the Giants.

IDP DB

ERIC BERRY – DB – KC

MUNTRADAMUS RANKING #14

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANKING #2

The Jaguars will be running the ball often this week.  Eric Berry will be ready for the deep passes, which will not come.  Love Berry this season, but not this week.

  1. Munt I have matt forte…would still play him over ryan matthews and ahmad bradshaw(given he is healthy to play)?? damn it I guess I just need to wait to see the rankings later :(

  2. I’d still play him given that Matthews is playing HOU and Bradshaw is unknown territory right now. I have Forte and still going to play him tomorrow.

  3. Munt and The Nation,

my 3rd receiver spot is a mess. I have Denarius Moore, Vincent Brown, and Nate Washington. Who do I play Week 1?

  4. Should I be combing the waiver wire since Ball is my flex? He didn’t look studly at all Thursday.
If I bench him I’ve got to play M Bush, Hartline, or R Randle! I can pick up Fred Davis and play him too. My league is thin because there is an extra starting flex position. Won’t matter this week because my opponent had P Manning and Welker.

  5. 12 man PPR League, 12 pick. My Team Someone offered me Their dez Bryant for my McFadden / V Jax…. Should I take the trade and maybe trade dez Bryant for welker/Ball or something like that?
    QB – Stafford
    RB – Forte,Sjax,Mcfadden,J-Stew,Jacquizz,Ronnie Hillman
WR- Amendola , Vjax, Miles Austin, Givens, V Brown, TE – Finley , Akers , Tampa bay

  6. munt has bradshaw ranked higher, but he did note he could go up or down depending on how bradshaw progressed this week, based on everything iv’e seen on bradshaw, i would say he is that start this week over forte and matthews, but final week 1 rankings come out tonight, so i would wait and see what munt has to say

  7. i would say denarious more, but its close with him and nate. I would avoid V brown vs a very good houston defense

  8. does the other guy have any RB that he would throw in the DMC/Vjax deal, because if you made that trade you would only have two RB that you can count on

  9. Like buyeye420 said, see if you can get another RB thrown in if you include Givens or V. Brown also. You don’t want to leave your RB position shallow if you can help it.

  10. Usually at flex you want to go with RB 9 times out of 10. However, Ball has yet to really integrate himself into the Denver offense. When he’s been in he’s looked pretty good, but they have another tough matchup next week against the Giants. Like Munt said, Ball will probably begin to see more carries in week 3.

Depending on who you have to drop Fred Davis is not a bad option for next week against GB. Washington will have to play catch up next week and I see Davis having a good day as RGIII’s safety blanket.

  11. Probably sounds pretty crazy but BMarsh or Lance Moore this week? I need all the edge I can get playing against Peyton this week and having played Ball in my flex spot put me at a huge disadvantage already. Kicking myself for playing Fred Davis over Julius Thomas this week.

  12. Dez Bryant is top tier this year, especially in PPR. Vincent Jackson is garbage with a garbage qb on a run-first team, and Mcfadden will be hurt…again.. Absofrigginlutely you take this trade. Pick up a bye week running back as the unfold during the coming weeks, as starters get hurt, and unknowns become known, and drop Miles Austin immediately, with Bryant on your team. PPR with Bryant, Givens and Amendola, plus some waiver pickups later, and you’re all set. Forte’s supposedly the center of the Bear’s offense under Tressel, and Steven Jackson’s a workhorse, finally on a team that knows how to use a workhorse (they even made an out of shape, lazy Turner look good). Your team looks pretty mean with Bryant..

  13. Tough man. I still think Marshall is more likely to get you 15 pts than Lance Moore. I know you’re looking for the big play, but that’s rough.

  14. i still dont like the trade, but if you do make it DO NOT drop miles austin as Anonymous said. miles is going to have a huge year
