Fantasy Baseball is around the corner! I know you are probably as excited as I am, here are the players I would, and would not draft as we head into 2016.
MUST DRAFT
ROUGNED ODOR – 2B – TEX
ADP: 86 | MY ADP: 56
Rougned (pronounced “ROOF NED”) “Rougey (ROOGY)” Odor is on pace to have a breakout season. He is my must have player of the season. He will be better than Kinsler, Kipnis, and Dozier. While I may be a little biased as he plays for my hometown Rangers, he got on my radar last season and was a great pickup that lead me far into the playoffs. His spring training this season has been superb! He will be a great watch for HR, AVG, and RBI’s.
MAIKEL FRANCO – 3B – PHI
ADP: 91 | MY ADP: 52
Franco looked very strong in his Spring Training. He is supposed to be a HR king in a couple of years, but it looks as if it could be this year. Don’t bet on him breaking records this season, but definitely a great sleeper pick. He will hit 20+ HR and have a .330 AVG. Very good numbers for such a young player. He will also have a high number of RBI’s.
MIKE MOUSTAKAS – 3B – KC
ADP: 153 | MY ADP: 83
Here is another 3B sleeper pick. Strong upside here and he will have a great season. He will almost best Adrian Beltre, should Beltre get injured then he will overtake him. Look for Mike to have 17 HR and a .312 AVG along with a good chunk of RBI’s. He will have an up year so if you need a good 3B pickup later in the draft this is your guy.
YU DARVISH – SP – TEX
ADP: 141 | MY ADP: 88
This is my big huge play this season. You can draft him super low and get a huge return on a low draft pick. Read my other article and see what I have to say about him. He won’t play until late May, but he will get at least 20 games. The Rangers offense should be lights out and will help give him the wins he needs.
MUST NOT DRAFT
ALBERT PUJOLS – 1B – LAA
ADP: 82 | MY ADP: 150
While Pujols won’t be a huge bust, I say do not draft as he will go high in the draft and there are much better picks you can make. If he falls somehow to the 15th round, then go for it. Otherwise do not draft him! If you have him already try to trade for 1 or 2 of the mentioned players above!
JOHNNY CUETO – SP – SF
ADP: 70 | MY ADP: 94
Cueto had a great season last year. He has had a very troubled spring training with an over 9.00 ERA. Look for him to have a down year this year due to a high ERA and lower than expected wins. If you want a Cueto like pickup, then go for Lester. 11 Wins 3.60 ERA 120K is what I expect from Johnny Rocket.
YASIEL PUIG – OF – LAD
ADP: 78 | MY ADP: 189
He has already been having hamstring issues this Spring Training. Couple that with his troubles at the plate and you have a bad season. He will bounce back next season, but look to him to be another “He will go high in the draft so avoid”.
