WENTZ UPON A DIME (WEEK 7)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Once upon a time, or Wentz upon a Dime. Both the Giants and Eagles were legit offenses that could score points above the league average. How quickly things can change.

The Giants lost Saquon Barkley and really have not been the same since. Devonta Freeman is doing a solid job being a capable replacement, but he is not the gamechanger that Saquon Barkley is, nor did anyone expect him to. The Giants also lost Sterling Shepard, which did not seem to be a big deal at the time since the Giants are so deep at WR. But something happened to Danny Dimes in the process of losing Shepard. Danny Dimes does not throw dimes anymore. He throws missiles over players heads like Josh Allen. Danny Dimes feels the heat of heavy pass rushes and does not trust his O-Line as much as he should. On Thursday Night, the Eagles D-Line is going to be coming for his head early and often. Jones is not afraid to tuck it and run, and he will have to do plenty of that in order to survive. Giants do have advantages in the passing game with all of their weapons, including the return of Shepard, but Jones and his QB IQ has dropped 100 points this season. Bad throws, forced throws, sometimes he looks like a robot. This is not the Danny Dimes from last season, this is Danny Pennies.

The Eagles were in the Super Bowl less than 4 years ago. Carson Wentz was on his way to being the MVP if it was not for being injured. Now the Eagles only have Corey Clement as the only weapon for Wentz to find from that team. Desean Jackson is healthy, and that is a huge relief for the passing attack that is desperate after losing Zach Ertz last week. The Giants Defense is vastly underrated. They are built to shut down the run, and they will do just that as the Eagles would rather jump off a cliff than give the ball to Boston Scott more than 7 times on the ground. Expect the Eagles to rely on Carson Wentz to win them this game, as they should. Wentz is playing like a superhero, he just has no supporting cast. Giants secondary can definitely limit Wentz upside as his weapons are good, but the day we start calling Travis Fulgham a premiere player is a day I do not see coming once the Eagles are at full-strength. For now, he will have to be the game-changer, especially if Desean Jackson and that hamstring is not 100%.
