Every year we see NFL teams make bad decisions which cost their franchise multiple seasons. We saw it when the Vikings opened up their check book to Sam Bradford, we saw it when the 49ers thought they had their answer at RB in Jerrick McKinnon. Now in 2026, we see it again with the Dolphins giving Malik Willis a 3 year/$67.5 Million deal.

Last season Malik Willis looked impressive for the injured Jordan Love. The Packers were winning and Malik was balling, the thing was, the Packers had a good system in place. Not to take away from Malik Willis, but the Packers all around are a low end playoff team. This offseason, the Dolphins decided to make Malik Willis their starter, where there is no system in place. Through one game, the Dolphins offense may be in trouble.

During the preseason the Dolphins tricked us and scored an opening drive TD. Wow, Malik looked good, Achane made it look easy, everything that was glitter is gold. However bad practice reports followed that, which then translated to the Dolphins looking like trash in Week 1 against the Raiders. Sure, Raiders D is not as bad as they once were, but Malik looked like a backup QB more than a starting QB, and that was the problem. Bad throws, bad reads, and a lot of punting. If the Dolphins look this bad now, hard to imagine them getting a whole lot better sooner than later.

Achane was a name that was drafted in the early 2nd Round. Yes, he is a PPR machine. However this Dolphins offense is so bad right now, they should change their name to the Miami Puntings. The Dolphins are going to be going 3 & out often on Sunday against the 49ers, his trade value will continue to go in the wrong direction.

I would not sell Achane for too low, the season is young, however if you can flip him and someone else for a more respectable name, I would do it sooner than later because those big names could be off the table for good by the time October hits.
