The Falcons come into Philly on Ring Night, and this is hardly the same Super Bowl team that will be on the field despite familiar faces. Nick Foles will start at QB opening night as Carson Wentz gets closer to a return, and to put it simply. Nick Foles looked like a Rookie QB this preseason, as bad as he looked last year when he first took over for Wentz and Philly was in Full Panic mode.

With Nick Foles looking like Napolean Dynamite, look for the offense to really rely on Jay Ajayi. While that sounds fine in theory, this Falcons Defense has too much talent in their front 7 for a RB like Jay. De’Vondre Campbell and Deion Jones will be there to meet Ajayi the second he gets past the big front 4. Ajayi has lost some weight and looks smaller than he has in the past, but he also looks quicker. While that too sounds good in theory, it is not going to work against this athletic LB core for the Falcons.

The Eagles will have no Alshon Jeffery for this game, which means Nick Foles will be throwing to Mike Wallace, who he has not connected with well at all this preseason, as well as Nelson Agholor who has not been healthy all camp. If Foles is going to be effective, it is going to be through Zach Ertz and maybe even a sleeper amount of Dallas Goedert. Do not expect Foles to be the type of QB looking to throw for 300+ Yards, he will take whatever the defense gives him. Jake Elliot could easily be the MVP of the night for this Eagles offense.

If the Falcons are going to win this game, they just have to play their game well. Julio Jones can be a BEAST in this matchup as the Eagles secondary is too small. Mohamed Sanu should have a nice size advantage and even Calvin Ridley can make some big plays down the field who had a nice preseason with Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan just has to worry about the Eagles pass rush, but the Falcons O-Line is very solid and they should be able to hold their QB up, expect Austin Hooper to play a big role in the blocking game.

Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are both capable of big plays, and even against a great Eagles Defense, this Eagles Defense is really no threat with Nigel Bradham. Without Nigel, this team is without their captain as he was the guy who came over from Buffalo with Jim Schwartz to run this Defense.

Eagles are without their true QB in Carson Wentz, and their true QB on Defense in Nigel Bradham. Jay Ajayi/Corey Clement/Nelson Agholor are a bit beat up, Alshon Jeffery is OUT. The stars are aligning for the Falcons to ruin the Eagles Ring night, with very little resistance.

  1. Munt,

What the hell went wrong with Matty Ice… He looked like Trevor Siemian last night…

Julio looked real good and vintage. I’d say he is healthier than he has ever been in 2017.

  2. I’d also like to add that the draft strategy was great! Well thought out and analyzed to beast a championship. The most confidant that I’ve ever been entering a season.
