The Patriots coaching staff is nowhere near the coaching staff it once was when Tom Brady was a Patriot. Many of the successors of Tom Brady’s Patriot Legacy got opportunities to become head coaches, or giant pay raises. One of those successors was Bill O’Brien.
Bill was the QB Coach/Offensive Coordinator back in the 2010 range. Brady put up giant numbers, to say the least during that time, next thing you know it O’Brien was the Coach/GM of the Texans. Once Arian Foster left, (BEAST DOME Legend) it all went downhill for their franchise. After spending a couple years back in Alabama as an OC, O’Brien returns to New England where it all started.
With O’Brien as the OC, you know the Patriots offense is going to be more explosive than it was in the past. While there is little that needs to be said about Bill’s success in New England, he really did do a great job in Houston. Texans offense really never had a great QB, yet their passing attacks always remained sky-high. Everyone can remember the BEAST DOME Fitzmagic days when he was with the Texans. O’Brien then traded away DeAndre Hopkins for peanuts, and it all went downhill from there.
While there was a lot of success in Houston, that does not mean he can bring automatic success to a Patriots team that is sticking with Mac Jones. More on him soon, but you can expect the Patriots offense to be more vertical than it was in the past. The only question is will the Patriots offense be successful?
