CHASE’ING YOUR 1st ROUND PICK

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Last season I told you Ja’Marr Chase was going to be a BUST as your 1st Round Pick. I said these exact words you can find in this article (BUST YOUR TEAM 2022).

1st ROUND – JA’MARR CHASE (2022)

*Chase will be a Top 10 WR this season, but he is being drafted as a Top 3 WR in the 1st Round. BEAST DOME is turning the other cheek. If he falls to Round 3 or late Round 2, he has good upside. He will not play like a Top 5 WR in Fantasy consistently every week, he is being drafted as he will be that guy.

Ja’Marr Chase had 5 games of over 100+ receiving yards last year, which means he had 12 that were under. Yes it was his Rookie season, and consistency should be better in year two as the start was a little slow. However drafting him in the 1st Round seems too radical of a move. Considering there are Legend WRs in Davante Adams and Stefon Diggs who go after Chase. Higgins/Boyd/Hurst/Mixon are all players that need to eat, Chase is going to be starving for numbers more often than you expect. You should not draft a WR in the first round who can play like a WR3 on your roster some weeks.

The results of my prediction

Ja’marr Chase played 12 games last season. Already not ideal for your 1st Round Pick, but injuries happen. In those 12 games, Chase played like a 1st Round Pick (100+ Yards/TD) in only 4 games last season (33% very low). He played like a WR2 in 3 games (25% very low), and the other 5 games (42% nearly half of his games played), your bust 1st Round pick played like a WR3.

“You should not draft a WR in the first round who can play like a WR3 on your roster some weeks.”

– From Article above

A year goes by, and the Sheep Experts are being Sheep, ranking Chase as the #2 overall WR. I have seen Chase go as early as the #2 pick in some drafts, I have seen him slip to the 6th pick. While Chase is no doubt a good player, who is also getting better. WHO IS A PLAYER YOU DRAFT IN THE 1ST ROUND THIS YEAR. “BEAST DOME is turning the other cheek.”

I do expect Chase to put up better numbers than he did last season, with more consistency as it did appear Burrow and Chase really grew together later in the year. The duo nearly brought in another Super Bowl appearance. The reality is, the Bengals are stacked once again, and the Bengals offense can win games without Chase. Chase is not the only important piece to this Bengals puzzle, in fact the Bengals could be lying about the Joe Burrow injury. If Joe Burrow is not playing on a Football Sunday, Ja’Marr Chase is a Top 20 WR range at best. While there is no doubting the skill of Chase, Trevor Siemian and his robotic arm is more about the safe throws to the open WR, as opposed to Burrow who will intentionally get it deep to his favorite college teammate in the endzone.

Regardless, let the Sheep dive head first into drafting Ja’Marr Chase. While I do expect more consistency from Chase in Year 3, as long as Burrow is healthy and the Bengals are not lying, I do not like Chase more than a few of the other WRs drafted behind him.

SHEEP EXPERT RANK WR #2

MUNTRADAMUS RANK WR #4

While you may think that difference is not much. That difference is the difference between not drafting Chase this year, and Drafting Chase this year. “BEAST DOME is turning the other cheek.”

Can you believe Joe Burrow was throwing the ball to Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase at LSU. That would be like Tom Brady throwing the ball to Randy Moss and “Forgetting Brandon Marshall”
