FANTASY FOOTBALL BEAST OR BUST:

The Duke Of Cleveland

(DUKE JOHNSON JR.)

BEAST DOME NATION.

There are a few special talents at RB this season who will emerge from the Waiver Wire and be an every week starter. Someone who has the chance to break that mold is Duke Johnson Jr. who looks nothing short of a superstar on a team that is starving for Offensive weapons. Duke Johnson Jr. has some Marshall Faulk in his game, not only with his ability to catch passes but his ability to hit the holes hard and pick up big gains. The only thing standing in Duke Johnson’s way is Isiah Crowell. While Crowell does posses some nice attributes to his game, like power running. Duke Johnson Jr. is clearly the better RB and the Browns are ready to pass the torch.

Duke has been getting more and more touches every week, and it will not take long before Crowell is the change of pace to DJ Jr. It is very possible that they run both of them on the same plays as Duke and his pass catching abilities could make him the #1 option in the passing game as Travis Benjamin is too small. While the Browns offense is nothing special on paper and you have to imagine scoring points would be tough for this offense, Josh McCown is getting it done and is looking like Vintage Josh McCown of the Bears which is enough for a couple Touchdowns despite the matchup. While Duke is not a RB#3 quite yet in Fantasy Leagues, in a few weeks he will be a rock solid RB#2 with low-end RB#1 potential in PPR leagues.

The time is now to grab the Duke.

  1. Awesome! I asked you about Crowell last week, you saw it coming. Told me to let go of Crowell if any of the players on my roster in order to add Hillman to back up my CJ Anderson. So I did just that, then realized that Duke was still on the waiver. I took the chance, added Duke over Hillman and he ended up having a breakout game. Problem is, so did Hillman… I debated on the best move, we will see how it pans out.

I hope that Hillman’s day(most of which was 1 long run) isn’t going to command him the lead role. From the comments of Kubiak, it appears that he’s high on both players and is allowing them to decide their fate, but still sees something better in CJA.

What is your opinion on Hillman vs. CJA? Current and ROS?

  2. would it be wise to trade dion lewis/andre johnson for Duke Johnson & Percy Harvin? I feel like dion would be a better play because of the QB skill level that is getting him the ball. But i’m weary of late in season how Belichick treats his backs.
