THE MOOSE IS LOOSE

BEAST DOME NATION.

Mike Moustakas at 34 years old is a player many would consider over the hill. He was a key component of the Royals winning a World Series in 2015, hit 38 HRs in 2017. The next time Moustakas had a healthy season was 2019 with the Brewers when he hit 38 HRs. His time with the Reds was filled with injuries and he could never get it going.

Last season Moustakas got injured early, and was never the same. However his last two series of the season against the Pirates and the Phillies. Moustakas played 5 games, had a 5 game hitting streak, he had 4 runs, 4 RBIs, 1 HR, and hit .363. The Reds are in an obvious rebuild, and the last thing they need is a 34 year old player who can barely stay healthy.

Now we ask. What is the one thing that can revive Moustakas? Playing for the Colorado Rockies. Moustakas just signed with the Rockies on a Minor League deal. With the DH rule in the NL, Moustakas can find his way to an easy 20+ HRs if he is able to show he still has what it takes. 20+ HRs for a player that may be playing 2B now that Brendan Rodgers looks to be out for the season with Shoulder surgery. That is more than valuable.

There is huge upside in Mike’s game, and it would be foolish not to take him at the end of every draft as his upside is pretty much Max Muncy. If you do not draft Moose, and he goes off for a couple HRs, you can bet the house everyone in your Fantasy League will go all in on adding him off of the Waiver Wire.
