BULLPEN REPORT (2014)

BEAST DOME NATION.

The bullpen position is the most underrated position in Fantasy Baseball.  You could have a pitcher throw a 7 INN shutout, only to see his horrible bullpen blow the game.  If you do not do your .research, this could happen more often than not.  Luckily for you, you have me to analyze all the Bullpens.

WORST BULLPENS IN BASEBALL

#24

COLORADO ROCKIES

Being in Colorado is already rough for most relievers.  When your bullpen is led by Latroy Hawkins who is now 41, you are going to blow a lot of games.  Luckily Boone Logan and Rex Brothers are two very solid middle relievers.  Rex should take over as the closer at some point early in the season.

#25

BALTIMORE ORIOLES

Between the possibility of Tommy Hunter being the closer, to the risky Alfredo Aceves or Darren O’Day coming in for that hopeful shutout Inning.  The Orioles Bullpen will make a lot of games intresting no matter the size of the lead.  This bullpen is bad enough to avoid Orioles Starters all together.  Do keep an eye on Bud Norris who could become the closer if they sign Ervin Santana.  That will help the closer situation, but still leave this bullpen very shaky.

#26

MINNESOTA TWINS

Glen Perkins will be the closer once again for the Twins.  He is far from hard to hit, which is the first problem.  The real problem is, the Twins will not be giving him a lot of save situations because of their poor offense and pitching.  On top of that, Jared Burton and Casey Kien will be giving up a lot of runs as the setup men.

#27

CHICAGO CUBS

The Cubs are going to be a bad team.  Their bullpen may be little underrated this season, but it is still pretty awful.  Jose Veras will be the closer, we have seen him struggle many times before.  Pedro Strop and James Russell will be the setup men.  While that combo does not sound horrible, it is a lot worst than it sounds.  They can both be electric, but they can both give up a lot of runs.

#28

HOUSTON ASTROS

The Astros have a veteran bullpen that is filled with names that are over the hill.  From Chad Qualls to Jesse Crain, these are guys that are past their prime and could be in for a long season.  The Astros will be in a lot of shootouts this season, and the bullpen is going to help make those shootouts higher scoring than they should be.

#29

NEW YORK METS

The Mets bullpen is far from automatic everyday.  Bobby Parnell is more of a decent middle reliever than a closer.  The rest of this bullpen is just question mark after question mark.  The Mets are not going to win a lot of games in 2014.

#30

CHICAGO WHITESOX

The problem with this bullpen starts from the top and ends at the bottom.  Nate Jones as the closer is a very hittable one.  His ERA was north of 4.00 and that alone makes him a bad closer when you compare the talent in this league.  Matt Lindstrom will be one of the top relievers on this squad, but he is still not at full strength.  Ronald Belisario is one of the worst setup men in the game.  The White Sox are not going to come back in a lot of games.
