Murakami began the second half of the season ice cold. He was getting hits, but zero power with zero RBIs. The White Sox gave him a bobble head day on Sunday, both of his parents threw out the opening pitch to the Japanese slugging BEAST. The result; two home runs to go with six RBIs, and just like that Murakami is back to being in the hunt for AL Rookie of the Year.
Munetaka fell all the way to +1073 odds on Sunday, after his massive game, his odds to win AL Rookie of the Year are now +383. Just imagine if Munetaka stays hot, he will be favored in no time. For some reason Kevin McSingle continues to lead for the award as Kalshi believes he is 70% favorite. Since the All-Star break Kevin has 1 HR to go with 1 RBI and 3 runs. His batting average remains good at .280, but that is not super impressive. In one game, Munetaka basically cleared all of his numbers with room to spare.
There is still two full months left of Baseball, and most important the White Sox are still leading the AL Central. At this point the Sox winning the AL Central is more of a reason than anything to give the award to Munetaka instead of McSingle. When you look at the numbers, it is night and day Munetaka is the better player.
