Last season the Pittsburgh Steelers backfield consisted of Jaylen Warren & Kenneth Gainwell. However if you did not have the BEAST DOME Draft Guide last season, you would have though the Steelers backfield consisted of Kaleb Johnson and Jaylen Warren. BEAST DOME was the only site to say KALEB JOHNSON SUCKS AND JAYLEN WARREN IS PART OF THE 2025 BEAST DOME DRAFT GUIDE. Of course I did not publish that content on BEAST DOME for Free during the Preseason, as I was not going to short change the MVPs that got the Draft Guide and learned that Jaylen Warren was an excellent sleeper in the Draft Guide. I have plenty of players that are going to win you your league in the Draft Guide.

I am a Rico Dowdle fan, I see him as a temu version of Marshawn Lynch. Actually that is too generous, in fact I would say Carlos Hyde & Go BEAST is a better RB than Rico Dowdle. However Dowdle is no slouch. Last season the Steelers used Jaylen Warren a lot, but Kenneth Gainwell started becoming the every play 3rd down RB, and stole valuable carries throughout the game. Jaylen Warren could have had a Hall of Fame season, only if the Steelers did not force feed Gainwell so often. With that being said, Gainwell did well enough to deserve all those touches he was getting.
Gainwell is gone, Rico Dowdle is in. Kaleb Johnson is still there too holding the water bottles. The big difference between Kenneth Gainwell and Rico Dowdle is, Kenneth Gainwell has great hands and is a great blocker. Rico Dowdle is more of a better north/south RB than Gainwell. However, Gainwell really took a big step in that direction last season for the type of player he was in Philadelphia. Now we are in 2026 and when the Steelers face 3rd down, there is no way the Steelers should call on Rico, because, Jaylen Warren is still there.
Jaylen Warren is one of the best 3rd down RBs in the NFL, who plays all three downs because he is that good. Warren has excellent hands, he knows how to block, he is faster, and he has more moves than Rico Dowdle could ever dream of. For the first few years of Jaylen’s career, he was the lightning to Najee Harris’ thunder. Last season Jaylen finally got the chance to shine with the job to himself, that started to look like a RBBC towards the end of the season, and put up an amazing season hitting career highs with 1291 yards and 8 TD.

While it probably will be a form of a RBBC for Rico Dowdle to be part of the game plan, in reality he could be the goal line RB, he is still being drafted too high to warrant any consideration. There will be many games where Jaylen dominates touches leaving Rico looking like a RB5 on a fantasy football roster at best. Right now Rico is the #31 RB according to the consensus, in reality he should probably be closer to 40+, and not on the draft radar. The BEAST DOME Draft Guide wants no part of Rico Dowdle.
