A series I should have continued more often, will now be here moving forward. I guess it has been a while since I truly felt this way where I wanted to write about it but here we are.

WHAT THE BROCK ARE THE 49ers are doing?

Brock Purdy has been on my overrated list pretty much since Day 1 in my eyes. You can use the search bar on the right to find countless Brock Purdy articles that talk about how bad he is, and like always, he underperformed.

Brock has been blessed to be surrounded by Future Hall Of Famers and All Pros. Not only on offense, but also on defense, a defense that played like an All-Time Great at it’s peak. The 49ers were built to be a winning machine, they made Jimmy Garoppolo look like Tom Brady, on and off the field. You simply just had to be good enough to take a snap, make one good read, throw the ball. In fact, you did not even have to make a good read, you could just hand the ball off to Christian McCaffrey, or throw a little dump pass to him and you would look good. In fact, CMC was so good in his prime, that defenses would just dare Brock to throw it against weak coverages just so CMC did not touch the ball. You could argue Troy Aikman made his career off the same thing playing with Emmitt Smith.

Last year for the first time, Brock had to do the heavy lifting because there was no CMC for a heavy majority of the season. There was also no Trent Williams for nearly half the season, and Brandon Aiyuk missed a lot of time as well. Not to mention Deebo Samuel could not catch a pass if his life depended on it.

End of the day, Brock and the 49ers missed the playoffs in 2024. Pretty bad for a team that went to the Super Bowl multiple times and had deep playoff runs for nearly half a decade. This season was so bad for Brock, that it took a HUGE performance on his last regular season game against the Lions (Week 17), on Monday Night Football where the 49ers still lost to keep his numbers looking semi-respectable, if that. Brock ended up throwing for 373 Yards, 3 TD, but of course 2 INTs and a 49ers loss at home. Brock ended the season with 20 TD/12 INT. 20 TDs in 15 games? That’s below average at best. For a ‘franchise QB’? Embarrassing. Purdy also had less than 4,000 (3,864) Passing Yards, that is not very explosive at all.

What do the 49ers do? They award him and make him the Franchise QB!

CMC has one good year left, if that. One more injury to CMC and that is a wrap on his career. The 49ers Defense that carried Brock so many years is getting softer by the season. It is all unraveling for the 49ers dynasty, and now they are building around the guy who had very little do with the reason why the 49ers dynasty is even a term. If Brock Purdy was the QB of the Carolina Panthers these past few years, Brock would be out of the NFL by now. Mr. Irrelevant (Brock Purdy nickname for being the last pick of the NFL Draft), is now going to turn the 49ers Irrelevant.
