MUNTRADAMUS 2016 BASEBALL PREDICTIONS

BEAST DOME NATION.

This is the first time in quite some time we could see some 50+ Home Run Hitters in the same season. Crush Davis/Donaldson/Bautista/Trout/Harper/Cruz and of course Giancarlo Stanton looked primed to have some BEAST seasons. With those guys swinging the power stick, Baseball will be almost as exciting as the Sammy Sosa/Barry Bonds mid 90s days. With that, here is my predicted 2016 MLB Finish.

NL WEST

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (90-72)

LOS ANGELES DODGERS (87-75)

COLORADO ROCKIES (80-82)

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS (70-92)

SAN DIEGO PADRES (65-97)

Giants are the team to beat the in the NL West. Addition of Cueto and Samardzija is everything they need to dominate the weak NL West. Dodgers really counting on youthful hitting to carrying one of their weakest pitching staffs they have had in some time. Rockies can never be in the playoffs until they have pitching, and Diamondbacks/Padres possess two offenses that will not win games.

NL CENTRAL

CHICAGO CUBS (101-61)

PITTSBURGH PIRATES (91-71)

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (85-77)

MILWAUKEE BREWERS (65-97)

CINCINNATI REDS (63-99)

Cubs pitching staff and offense is as deep as any. Look for them to cruise to a 2nd straight playoff berth. Pirates should be more than solid this season as their only weakness is back of their rotation. Cardinals are about to have their down year now that their offense is weak and their pitching can only carry them so far. Brewers lack quality pitching and their hitting is on the decline. Reds are in complete re-build mode.

NL EAST

WASHINGTON NATIONALS (110-52)

NEW YORK METS (99-63)

MIAMI MARLINS (80-82)

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (55-107)

ATLANTA BRAVES (50-112)

Nationals have a strong batting order and a dominant pitching staff. Look for Bryce to be the anchor of this team and carry them to the NL East title. Mets definitely a contender to win it all this year, will the non-big name hitters carry them in the playoffs is the question. Marlins will be better as long as Stanton stays healthy. Phillies are in complete re-build mode. Braves don’t have a clue what they are doing with horrible talent and not enough youth.

AL WEST

HOUSTON ASTROS (95-67)

SEATTLE MARINERS (84-78)

TEXAS RANGERS (81-81)

LOS ANGELES ANGELS (77-85)

OAKLAND ATHLETICS (65-97)

Astros have so much speed that they can score anywhere from their lineup. As long as Altuve sets the table for this powerful offense they will score more than enough runs for this nice pitching staff. Mariners getting closer to playoff blood, but King Felix looks like he is about to take a step in the wrong direction with his smaller frame. Rangers have some nice offense and some nice pitching, but not deep enough in either category. Angels are done now that their pitching staff is done. Time to move on from Pujols and all the other veterans and re-build around Trout. Athletics playing money ball in a spend money league, those days are done.

AL CENTRAL

DETROIT TIGERS (107-55)

KANSAS CITY ROYALS (99-63)

CHICAGO WHITE SOX (81-81)

CLEVELAND INDIANS (80-82)

MINNESOTA TWINS (65-97)

Tigers still posses a bunch of hitters that can win any game for them. Starters may be falling off on talent, bullpen may be weak. Offense is too strong. Royals offense has nice tools but their starting pitching staff is definitely beatable. White Sox did a lot to improve team, but they still have ways to go. Indians have good nucleus of pitchers and hitters, but none of them will carry you to the playoffs. Twins on complete re-build, give it 5 more years.

AL EAST

TORONTO BLUE JAYS (112-50)

BALTIMORE ORIOLES (86-76)

NEW YORK YANKEES (82-80)

BOSTON RED SOX (81-81)

TAMPA BAY RAYS (60-102)

Blue Jays have the best offense in baseball and enough pitching in the bullpen to win those tight games. Baltimore Orioles have the offense to score as many runs as any team, but their pitching can give up as many runs as any team. Yankees have the offense but everyone is only getting older and this could be their last year to make it. Pitching is one injury to way to really hurting with their starters. Red Sox pitching is as inconsistent as any. Besides David Price no starter is reliable. Rays have way too much to make up for in talent in the very strong AL East.
