MIDDLE TIER
The sleeper picks however is what crowns a champion, a champion.
Andrew Landry
Short hitters do well at this course and Landry’s been able to resurrect an otherwise mediocre past couple years. With his win earlier this year, I imagine this dude has been able to really rest and reset with a purpose. A great wedge player with a keen eye for detail, Landry could easily add to his current PGA record with another win in Texas. His maiden win came in San Antonio at a course that wouldn’t seem like an ideal setup for him.
Abraham Ancer
I was expecting more from Ancer this season after his strong holiday time play at the end of 2019. 2020 has been a completely different year than any of us could have expected. I believe that sometimes when things are moving very fast, a little time to slow down can be a gift. For Ancer, I believe the lockdown and evolving times we’ve all adopted should give him a revitalized chance to pump some of the early promise that this season saw in him. He’s a great ball striker and this course should be up his alley. Despite a couple middle of the road finishes here, I think he’ll figure this place out. He’s had some good rounds.
