FANTASY GOLF BEAST (WGC FedEx St. Jude Classic)

RORY MCILROY

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

2020 has brought on surprises to all of us. For me it has been a new favorite Fantasy Sport in Golf. It is still behind my big three of NFL/NBA/MLB, in that order, but I still love them all. Back when I was a kid I used to watch golf religiously, since getting harder in the paint with the other sports, I stopped following Golf and from there no longer knew the field.

Thanks to James Dalthorp III, he has brought an amazing Golf Base Knowledge that has helped me find players to follow, which has lead to me knowing the entire field. With NBA returning Thursday, and MLB going full steam ahead. Fantasy Golf will just be delegated to this article. Unless James Dalthorp comes rushing back.

MICHAEL THOMPSON PICK LAST WEEK

This week we have a big tournament. Almost all the big names are back as we are just one week away from the PGA Tour. No more weak field for Michael Thompson to dominate with ease, it is now only the cream of the crop for this tournament. While there are sleepers who can post good scores, I would not be on any of them to win it.

So with that, I am going with my BEAST pick.

PICK TO WIN IT

RORY MCILROY

Rory was the #1 player in the world before Corona struck down. Since the return of Corona, Mcilroy has finished in 11th once, but the other tournaments anywhere between 30-41. Last week he finished in 32nd. Despite these not so great finishes, Rory is still playing good golf, just not amazing golf as he is constantly making the cut. Last time Rory played was on Memorial, and he was on his way to finishing in the Top 10 before a horrible Sunday shooting a 78.

The thing that impressed me the most was how he outperformed Tiger Woods the first two days. While neither Woods nor Rory were ever near the top of the leaderboard, that battle between those two players will change both of them forever.

This week he returns to a golf course he almost won last year. Rory always has all eyes on him, and an opening pairing with Spieth and Simpson should keep him sharp and on his game. The Vegas odds have Rory at +1100, with stars like Rham at +1000, and Bryson/Thomas at +1200. While all four definitely have contention potential, I am going with Rory to remind the world he is the player to watch as we approach the PGA Championship the following week.
