ZEKIE MEENIE MINEIE MO (TIME TO LET HIM GO)

BEAST DOME NATION.

It was only a few years ago, Dallas Cowboys fans were more than convinced that the second coming of Emmitt Smith has entered the Franchise. Zeke was a BEAST out of College at Ohio State featuring his signature Crop Top look with Muscles and ABs that would make a greek statue jealous.

Zeke made a splash out of the gate with nearly 2,000 Total Yards as a Rookie, and finally did accomplish the feat in his 3rd year 2018. Since then it has been a slow decline, but the once upon a time Future Hall of Famer did manage to rush for over 1,000 (1,0002) Yards in a 17 game season in 2021, as well as rack up 10 TDs. Career Low 237 Carries.

While Dallas still may have Zeke as the lead RB. The truth is there is another stud RB who has been waiting his turn, Tony Pollard. Pollard ran for over 700 Yards in 130 Carries last year. Some retrospect, Zeke has had 300 Carry seasons in the past. It is easy to see that Pollard would be a starting RB on a lot of NFL teams, but in Dallas he is behind the legend in Zeke. For now.

Pollard is 25, Zeke is 27. Both have a lot of Football left in them, but Zeke has definitely lost a step since his prime days, while Pollard is a young buck who is ready for his workhorse load when it comes. Truth is, the time is NOW for Pollard, and the Cowboys kind of know it. Zeke will get his carries no doubt, but Pollard is too good to be on the bench and he needs a small grip of 8+ Carries a game, at least.

In the end, Dallas is a pass first offense, Dak is the big money man and even though Zeke was carrying the Franchise early in his career, those days are gone. In fact those days are so gone, that Zeke needs to perform the best he can without his superstar offensive line he once had. If/When Pollard continues to look better than Zeke, we can see a true 50/50 split. Until then, it is Zeke’s team, and Zeke should get another 1,000 Yards Rushing and another solid TD season, but it is not locked in stone and Pollard is the better RB.

I would avoid both players this year in Fantasy Football. Zeke is not worth the pick in the 3rd Round. Pollard is not worth the pick in the 7th/8th Round.
