What is going on? Why is the NFL being absolutely ridiculous and not paying these superstar RB’s money that they deserve?! Nick Chubb was the last RB to get over $10 Million per year, and that contract was 700+ days ago. Now you got JuJu Smith-Shuster making $11 Million per year with his new contract in New England. While I am sure Jacobs/Saquon/Pollard/Taylor were all asking for more than $11 Million, Saquon declined $13 Million+ per year, we do see RB’s like Zeke/Hunt/Fournette sitting without a team because nobody wants to pay them real money either. The most notable and we will get to later, Dalvin Cook.

The RB position is becoming a replaceable position according to the NFL, but they are wrong. Dead wrong. Look at the Chiefs going all in on Clyde Edwards-Helaire, wow what a superstar. You can argue Pacheco just replaced CEH as a way better RB, proving RBs are replaceable, but the Chiefs could have had Super Bowls if they had a strong RB instead of CEH. Instead of losing to the Bucs/Bengals in the Playoffs those two seasons, a strong running game would have led to easy wins in the prime of Mahomes career. Imagine what the Bills would be like if they did not waste a few seasons with Devin Singletary, this year that problem is fixed in Buffalo with a trio of BEAST RBs.

Great example this year we will see into light is the Vikings decision to release Dalvin Cook. With Aaron Rodgers gone from the NFC North, the Vikings have a great chance of making it to the playoffs in general, if not winning the division. The only problem is, Alexander Mattison will be the RB when the Vikings are in the playoffs. That means there is a good chance the Vikings get eliminated because of that. Try to follow this.

Without a great RB performance, defenses can play the pass, and if defenses play the pass well, that means the opposing teams offense gets the ball back quickly without the clock moving much. This also means the opposing teams offense will eat a lot of clock and dominate T.O.P, which will put more pressure on your tired defense, which will lead to more mistakes from your defense. Then Kirk Cousins will have to play from behind, and the chances of Kirk Cousins looking like Tom Brady in the playoffs are very slim. If Dalvin Cook was on the Vikings, they would be a much better team that has a chance of controlling the ball on offense. There is a reason why Mattison never played over Dalvin Cook.

Roger Godell should be stepping in as commissioner and making some sort of rule to prevent this lockout culture at RB. He should gather all the owners and they all decide as a group what the RB market should look like. These recent moves are obvious collusion to get RBs to not demand much money in the future, when they are more important than many will ever acknowledge. I expect all of these RBs to play regardless of extensions or contracts, we all saw what happened to Le’Veon Bell, and at the end of the day, they are getting at worst a few million to play Football a game they love growing up. Why give it all up, just because the bosses are not being fair and you cannot get a few million more? These guys are Football players, that is what they were born to be, trust that it will all work out, otherwise, you are basically hanging them up if you decide to sit out.
