POUNCING ON THE FREE AGENCY

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Fantasy Football is a glorious game filled with nothing but excitement and knowing every QB/RB/WR/TE that can make an impact for your Fantasy Football squad. The difference between BEASTING and doing okay in Fantasy Football, is understanding every player on the field. When normal Fantasy players look at Free Agency, they may think; Jerrick McKinnon is on 49ers, Jordy Nelson is on the Raiders, etc. etc. The moves that really make a difference is knowing the Offensive Line.

Two years ago when I ranked Matt Ryan lightyears ahead of every expert, it is because of the move the Falcons made in the off-season to add Pro Bowl Center Alex Mack. The result; everyone from the BEAST DOME NATION was ready to snag Matt Ryan after the 10th Round of their Fantasy Football league, Matty Ice ended up being MVP, and the Falcons were in the Super Bowl.

This year there was another major move made in Free Agency at the Center position that everyone might not be aware of.

Mike Pouncey signs a 2 year deal w/Chargers.

Pouncey, a 3x Pro Bowl Center is just 28 Years old. A hip injury has slowed him down a bit after missing a majority of 2016. However you cannot underestimate what this guy has done in his career straight out of the gate as a 1st Round Pick.

As a Rookie in 2011, Pouncey was a big reason Reggie Bush was able to rush for over 1,000 yards, the first time in Reggie’s career. The year after that Reggie came less than 20 yards away from repeating that performance. Then the Dolphins drafted Lamar Miller, who Pouncey catapulted his career into the Fantasy Football Star he is today. After Lamar Miller, Jay Ajayi busted onto the scene as a RB that everyone had to take notice. After Jay Ajayi was traded, Kenyan Drake ended up rushing for nearly 100 Yards a Week on average over the last month of the season.

Pouncey does wonders for the running game. Him going to LA to play for the Chargers is one of the most underrated moves this Free Agency that should have one of the biggest impacts. It is too early to say where Melvin Gordon should be drafted in Fantasy Leagues, the numbers have him going pretty much at the same spot he went last year. Late 1st Round. Still a lot more analysis needs to be done, on where to take Gordon, and even if Gordon is a guy to draft.

However I can tell you this. Without Mike Pouncey on the Dolphins, you can expect Kenyan Drake to take a HUGE step backwards. The Dolphins did make a nice move adding Josh Sitton at guard, a player who helped bring Jordan Howard to the fame he has at the moment, but losing Pouncey will definitely hurt. Right now Kenyan Drake is being selected as a 4th Round Pick, #16 RB according to the Sheep Fantasy Experts. Once again displaying that the Sheep Experts are not doing their HW, year after year.
