LATE SUMMER FREE AGENTS

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

As much as the BEAST DOME Draft Strategy is ready to roll, there is no way it is finalized. In fact, if any site has a finalized Draft Strategy, they have a Fantasy Football IQ of 0. Never this late into the Summer there are so many key players that have yet to sign with a team. I am not talking about a player who is holding out like Le’Veon Bell. We are talking about legitimate Free Agents with no teams, but big-time impact players.

Here are the Top 5 players on offense who have yet to sign with a team, and will make a big difference wherever they end up.

DEANDRE HOPKINS

Crazy that Hopkins does not have a buyer at this point. The longer this holdout goes, the worst this situation goes for DeAndre Hopkins. D-Hop is still a superstar and can put up monster numbers wherever he ends up. The only problem is the only two teams he visited (Titans/Patriots) are probably the two toughest situations for him in Fantasy. Tannehill and Mac Jones will not get Hopkins his consistent numbers.

While it seems obvious that D-Hop will put himself in the right situation, if he makes this solely about money than that statement will not be true. Hopefully for his sake, he signs with a team sooner than later. Hopkins still has plenty of left in the tank after showing he can thrive with Kyler Murray.

DALVIN COOK

Dalvin Cook has been amazing for the Vikings for the last four years. Now he is a Free Agent and his destination continues to change frequently. First, it was the Dolphins or Broncos, now it is looking like the Ravens or Patriots. It seems like no matter where Dalvin Cook ends up, he is going to be the best RB on that roster. Dalvin is a superstar, but every NFL team is pretty much set at starting RB for their team. Hopefully for Dalvin’s sake he does not end up on any of those teams above, but at this point a RBBC might happen wherever he ends up. Still, an ultra-talented RB who should thrive in any system.

ZEKE ELLIOTT/LEONARD FOURNETTE/KAREEM HUNT

All of these RBs really have no team or destination. All of these RBs still have something left in the tank, and it is likely best that they all wait for a situation to open up where they can fill in if a player gets injured.

The two best destinations for these RBs are the Vikings and Cowboys. Tony Pollard is coming off of a broken fibula and he has never been a lead RB for an entire season. Whoever ends up with the Cowboys will not only eat into Pollards touches, they have the opportunity to be a sleeper RB3 in Fantasy.

The Vikings got rid of Dalvin Cook and even though Mattison has had success in spot starts, he also has never been the guy for a full season. Mattison is not that big of a RB, and all those hits will add up. Whoever of the above joins the Vikings will have a role, and there will be weeks that RB does outperform Mattison especially as the season progresses.

There are other teams that do need RBs, and teams will face injuries at that position so there is no harm for the above three players to wait it out. With that being said, if they do not go onto any teams during the preseason, all of these players will be nothing more than players to watch as opposed to potential RB 3s on your roster to start the season.
