HOW MUCH FOR THE HOOKER? VOL. II

Watching preseason Football for me is like watching minor league NFL. Ya of course it is important to see how the starters look when they are out there, but after the one or two series we see in Week 1 of Preseason, it is time for the backups to shine. If you have been part of BEAST DOME for more than a year, you know I am on top of the preseason more than any Expert. Here is a throwback video to prove that.

In Volume 1 of the Hendon Hooker story, I talk about how good he looks, very exciting QB yes he is 26 years old and his time is ticking before he can even get an opportunity. I even do a deep dive into the Hendon Hooker card market and realize, his prices are way too high for a guy with limited time. Even mentioning they are in the Jordan Love when he was a 3rd string QB prices. I decided to pass because of all the factors. The prices have dropped.

Now it is 2025, Hendon Hooker comes into the season as the #2 QB on the Lions Depth Chart, which means the #1 QB for the Lions preseason opener. These are Hendon’s days right now. He can show the world he is the either the truth, or the lie. Hooker will not be out of Detroit until he is 29 years old (2027 Season) which means as far as Rookie Card value it will take a Jared Goff knee injury for Hooker to play until then.

While all the Hype of the preseason opener may be on Trey Lance seeing if he has an inch of talent at all, the real story I will be watching is to see if Hendon Hooker can show the NFL he is a starting QB. Last preseason he impressed me, this preseason heading into Week 1, his card market is a bit undervalued. I purchased a few. Still a bit more pricey than I would like. Tim Boyle cards are cheaper, and my heart is always with Tim.

Hookers card prices are likely to rise in the upcoming month, but they are also likely to sink once the season begins and reality sets in that Hooker is not going to be a starter unless Jared Goff gets injured. Regardless of it all, I am just happy the NFL season begins again, even if it is just preseason.
