FANTASY FOOTBALL D/ST RANKINGS

NOW THAT THE JAG IS GONE. JAG IS GONEE.

BEAST DOME NATION.

Let me take you on a portal ride BEAST DOME NATION. It was 2017 heading into 2018. The Jaguars defense just dominated Fantasy Football, and I was the only expert to make them a vital part of their draft guide.

ASK ME HOW I DID IN 2019 at D/ST

BEAST DOME vs. ECR

Nobody saw the Jaguars collapse coming like I did, nor did they see the Patriots turning it up to a historic level.

Now that I have your attention.

The Jaguars in 2020 come in with a defense that is no longer, “Top 10 expectations.” Number 16 in the league is them on a game where they are playing a team like the Lions. The only remaining defensive player on the front line from the good days is Ngakoue, which is Japanese for Sack machine. With that being said Josh Allen is a nice player, and they expect big things from their last year early Pick Taven Bryan. Also Al Woods is a big boy. Maybe I mispoke? This defensive line is a threat.

The Linebacker Core is BEAST as well. Joe Schoebert comes over from Cleveland, an old school legend type of MLB. While Myles Jack the other only remaining star from the Jaguars good days patrols the sidelines. This defense sounds pretty good to me?

While all that sounds great, the rest of this defense suffers. The secondary has been gutted and they are relying on AJ Boyue to guard #1 WRs, he can guard a #3 well on a good day, with other young corners that will have trouble in matchups against good talent. Ronnie Harrison is average at best, more known for his hitting, and Jarrod Wilson comes back after a so-so year where he did not really lock down the fort.

That secondary is too vulnerable and it will always allow Quarterbacks to find great matchups. Myles Jack has to be a machine going sideline to sideline and he is the type of player that can have a breakout IDP season for his playmaking ability alone. Though if I am a QB, I am going shotgun and having my WR’s create a one on one situation and find my mismatch.

The Jagaurs Defense from 2017 has lost; Calais Campbell, Tevin Smith, Jalen Ramsey, Tashuan Gipson, Marcell Dareus, and Barry Church. Back to the drawing board for the Jaguars Defense as they figure out how to compete in a make or break year for Gardner Minshew. How many chances are they going to give him to bring their Franchise forward? One is my prediction. Cannot waste time on a backup QB.
