DEFENSIVE IMPACT ROOKIES (IDP)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

While Defense does not get all the glory that Offense gets in Fantasy Football, it is still just as important. The way to find what players are going to do their things is by figuring out the holes on each team’s defense. Let us see if there are any Rookies who will make an impact and make teams stronger.

NFC WEST

ARIZONA

Cardinals not helping their defense during the draft as their only pick is likely 4th string CB at a 6th Round Pick.

SAN FRANCISCO

FRED WARNER – LB

Good potential but a bit small. Warner will be an outside LB who may have trouble with big NFL RBs. Warner looks more like a good backup than a starter but the 49ers project their 3rd round pick to start.

LA RAMS

Rams traded all their valuable picks for Brandin Cooks. No moves for Defense on Draft Day.

SEATTLE

RASHEEM GREEN – DE

Seahawks spent a 2nd Round Pick on the former USC Trojan. I am sure Carroll had something to do with that. Green does look like a legit NFL DE and could work his way into the rotation year 1.

SHAQUEM GRIFFIN – LB

Great story of the one handed pass rusher. His brother is on the team as well at CB, Griffin will be thrown into pass rush situations as a Rookie all season long. He does look good and has amazing moves, but he also is very undersized and rushing against 330+ OL when he is just 217, that is a big size differential.

NFC NORTH

MINNESOTA

MIKE HUGHES – CB

Smart pick by the Vikings to grab a potentially amazing slot Corner in the 1st Round to build on already one of the most dominant secondaries in the NFL. Will not be easy to pass against the Vikings this year or any year.

GREEN BAY

JAIRE ALEXANDER – CB

1st Round Pick, Alexander looks to be a better slot corner than an outside corner. Very quick closing speed, but not a physical guy. Alexander should start from Day 1 for the Packers.

JOSH JACKSON – CB

2nd Round Pick, Jackson looks better than Alexander and can easily start day 1. Packers looking to re-model that secondary. Usually not a good idea to build with rookie corners, but these guys can play.

CHICAGO

ROQUAN SMITH – LB

Bears used the #5 pick to grab a very quick LB who looks like he can get sacks and stop Running Backs who try to beat them through the air. The Bears run a very aggressive defense with their Outside LB’s, and we can expec to see Roquan make an impact from day 1.

Definitely a candidate for IDP Leagues, 8+ Sacks with 80+ Tackles can be there from day 1.

DETROIT

No moves made to their defense on Draft Day.

NFC SOUTH

ATLANTA

ISAIAH OLIVER – CB

2nd Round Pick, Oliver might be the #4/#3 Corner, makes the Falcons a bit better on defense but not someone that should be a HUGE Rookie impact.

NEW ORLEANS

MARCUS DAVENPORT – DE

Davenport the Saints 1st Round Pick looks like a BEAST from Day 1. Jordan Cameron and Marcus will make a dynamic duo that will give the Saints two BEAST pass rushers that is going to make things verytough for other offenses.

Potentially 10+ Sacks as a Rookie puts him on the IDP Radar.

TAMPA BAY

VITA VEA – DT

Vita will be a BEAST from day 1. Rookie with the 1st Round Pick looks like Haloti Ngata already, him and McCoy will be lethal. The addition of Vinny Curry and Jason Pierre Paul gives Tampa a really strong Defensive Line.

CAROLINA

DONTE JACKSON – CB

Donte will be the slot corner from Day 1, and he is VERY FAST. Definitely can be out muscled, but his speed looks to keep him on the field.
