FANTASY FOOTBALL BEAST OR BUST ROOKIE PROFILE

QUENTIN JOHNSTON

BEAST DOME NATION.

Fantasy Football season is around the corner and, “The BEAST DOME Draft Guide Process” will begin shortly. I expect to have the Draft Guide complete in May. Until then let us evaluate these Rookies and see if they will be on your team this Fall.

With the #21 Pick, the Chargers selected a WR by the name of Quentin Johnston to give Justin Herbert a new weapon. Chargers were already strong at WR, is Johnston going to make an impact and be on your Fantasy Roster this Fall?

We already know Justin Herbert has a man crush on Keenan Allen. Find yourself a partner that loves you like Herbert loves to throw to Keenan Allen. On top of that Mike Williams is a superstar whose only downfall is injuries, and Herbert not throwing him the ball enough. On top of that you got Joshua Palmer who came into his own last year as a solid WR3, as well as big play Jaylen Guton who I guess is nothing more than a good depth WR.

What type of player is Quentin Johnston going to be in this offense? His ceiling as a player is Ceedee Lamb, but let us not get ahead of ourselves here. He is not going to be that in year one, and that is his ceiling, not who he is now. For now he will be splitting reps with Joshua Palmer as the outside WR in 3 WRs set. There is good upside in his game and he does make Justin Herbert better, however he is not going to be on the Fantasy radar this year unless two starters go down in front of him. Joshua Palmer is more polished and thicker than Johnston. Mike Williams only needs more targets, while Keenan Allen will always get his. Quentin does make a huge upgrade over Jaylen Guton, and that is enough to give Herbet a boost in Fantasy Football for 2023.

I will say for Johnston’s future, if Mike Williams or Keenan Allen leave the Chargers in the upcoming years, Johnston can really thrive and live up to that Ceedee Lamb talent, but to be honest I feel I am giving him way more credit than he deserves with that label. A future fantasy starter as long as Justin Herbert is his QB.
