AFFLALO THE LEADER

(ARRON AFFLALO)

BEAST DOME NATION.

The New York Knicks offense was a joke last season. To start the 2014-15 NBA season the Knicks had three true scoring options.

Carmelo Anthony who is maybe the best one on one offensive player in the game.

J.R. Smith who is maybe the streakiest shooters in the game who catch serious fire.

Amar’e Stoudemire who the Knicks were happy to get any playing time with his bad knees.

When the Knicks traded away J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to the Cavaliers mid-season, their scoring took a hit. When they waived Amar’e Stoudemire, there was nothing left in this offense besides Melo. The Knicks played it smart and shutdown Carmelo Anthony early as this team was a joke led by Alexey Shved down the stretch, while Phil Jackson just sat in his owner box collecting $12 Million.

This season the Knicks mean business, and blowing their 1st round pick on Kristaps Porzingis was the last thing Knicks fans wanted to hear on draft day. Young Andrea Bargnani will have to wait another day before he comes a Fantasy option. Knicks signed Robin Lopez, who should have a nice year but there are much more talented offensive big men in the league than Lopez. At least they have someone with size who can run the triangle.

The big move the Knicks made this offseason was bringing in Arron Afflalo. Afflalo from UCLA is a true scorer who came into the NBA on a stacked Pistons roster. He made a living with his defense, and he then was shipped to the Denver Nuggets where he always found himself part of rotation.

The big move of Afflalo’s career happened when he went to Orlando where he was finally on a team that allowed him to shoot the ball 10+ times a game with confidence as the Magic were rebuilding around Nikola Vucevic, who they just acquired from the 76ers for Dwight Howard. Afflalo went on to average a career best 16.5 Points a game in 2012-13, then the Magic drafted Victor Oladipo the following season. Luckily for Afflalo, Jameer Nelson had a tough time staying healthy which led to Oladipo eating minutes at the PG spot and allowing Arron Afflalo to score a career high 18.2 Points per game on nearly 14 shots.

Then Afflalo was shipped back to Denver last season. Afflalo had trouble staying consistent as a Fantasy Option with Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari always fighting for minutes on the wing. Randy Foye and Will Barton made some noise too which made everything even worse. Mid-season Afflalo was shipped to Portland.

When Wesley Matthews went down for Portland right after the trade, Afflalo was needed to step up and be the savior to bring the Blazers through the Western Conference Playoffs. With everything on the line for his career, he choked only averaging 9 Points Per game on 9 Shots during the season through the stretch run of the regular season. Most important he was benched during the Playoffs after shooting 2-12 from the Field in three Playoff games, scoring a total of 5 Points.

The Knicks reached into their check book, and shelled out $16 Million over 2 Years for Afflalo to join Carmelo Anthony as the only true scoring player on the roster. Robin Lopez is a role player, Derrick Williams has never been consistently average. Jose Calderon has the role of running the offense, Carmelo and Afflalo are there to shoot.

This is the breakout season for the 29 Year Old Arron Afflalo. The Knicks are desperate for shooting, Arron Afflalo will average 20+ Points Per Game, no problem at all as he will have the Green Light 24/7. With the extended playing time and scoring, his 3PTM will be above 2 per game, and his steals will easily exceed 1.
