FANTASY BASEBALL VLAD GUERRERO JR. BUST

FANTASY BASEBALL VLAD GUERRERO JR. BUST

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

In the 1990s when you think of the best 1B option, you think of 50+ HRs and 120+ RBIs. When Carlos Delgado was the 1B option for Toronto in 2000, he smashed 41 HR/137 RBI in 1999, it was 44 HR/134 RBI.

Fast forward to today and the Sheep Experts will tell you Vlad Guerrero Jr. is the best 1B option in Fantasy Baseball. At first sounds okay, he carried the Blue Jays to the World Series, he was on the cover of a video game a few years ago, and he did hit 48 HRs in a season, back in 2021. However since 2021, the most HRs Vlad has hit in a season is 32, and twice he has hit below 30 HRs. He has also reached 100 RBIs just once since 2021, and the cherry on top of it all.

2025. VLAD JR. 23 HR/84 RBI. Forget the .292 average, forget the 6 SBs. If a 1B on your roster gets you less than 30 HR/100 RBI, you are cooked. If you are drafting Vlad as the #1 1B option like all the Sheep want you to, YOU ARE VERY COOKED! Do not listen to the Sheep, Do not Draft Vlad Guerrero Jr. He does not have that much pop, and if it was not for having his daddy’s name, he would be just another name you would forget in 10+ years like Carlos Delgado, however Delgado is a whole level above Guerrero Jr.

While Vlad may end up as an All-Star, he may even be a Top 10 1B option according to whatever formula fantasy services use to justify that his .292 batting average is such a huge advantage. At the end of the day, you are getting a weak 1B option, and the 1B position is supposed to be a power anchor. Not a big name, with good results.
