Fantasy Baseball: Daily Pitcher Rankings (June 7th)

BET OF THE DAY:

SF MONEYLINE. If you want insurance to this bet, and possibly win both.  Take the over on at 6 runs.  The only reason the Padres win this game is if they score 4-5 runs off of Cain.  The Giants will easily score 3 runs or more off Marquis.

DAILY PITCHER RANKINGS (June 7th):

1. CC SABATHIA VS. TB

The Rays cannot hit left-handed pitching.  CC in his last start against them had 10 Ks in 8 INN with 0 ER.  He should be able to dominate them again with ease.

2. MATT CAIN @ SD

Cain is far less effective on the road than at home, but this match-up is too good to ignore.  Continue to roll with one of the best pitchers in the NL so far this season.

3. COLE HAMELS VS. LAD

4. YU DARVISH @ OAK

5. R.A. DICKEY @ WAS

6. DAVID PRICE @ NYY

Price has been nearly perfect all season, expect against the Yankees.  He has a career ERA of 4.15, and although the Yankees offense is not scorching hot, they could still do damage.

7. LANCE LYNN @ HOU

Lynn has been pitching at a “back-to-earth” level since his hot start.  The ‘stros offense is a bit hot at the moment, but Lynn should be able to throw a QS.  Last year he allowed 1 ER in 6 INN, and currently owns a 2.23 road ERA.

8. MATT GARZA @ MIL

Garza has been struggling on the road this season with a 6.10 ERA.  Despite his career 2.88 ERA against the Brewers, this could easily be a rough start.  The Cubs offense is very cold right now, which will lead to little run support.  Garza will have to pitch an amazing game, and lately that ability is not there.

9. JAKE PEAVY VS. TOR

The Blue Jay hitters do not have any success against Jake, but they certainly are hot.  Peavy will be in for a rough game if he has control problems, but he also has the ability to pull off the QS.  Jose Bautista is one of the hottest hitters in the majors right.

10. DEREK LOWE @ DET

11. BRANDON MCCARTHY VS. TEX

12. BRIAN MATUSZ @ BOS

Pitching at Boston is never easy, but the Red Sox offense is not the same as it was a month ago.  Being a lefty is also an advantage as they can limit Adrian Gonzalez and David Ortiz.  Matusz has pitched well against Boston this year, and his career.  This would be a good time to get a sneaky W from him.

13. CLAY BUCHHOLZ VS. BAL

Clay may have turned the corner of being a pitcher who will not kill your ERA every time he goes out.  His last start against Toronto allowing 2 ER in 8 INN with 7 Ks in Toronto was very unexpected.  This is a huge start to prove he is ready to continue to roll.

14. RANDY WOLF VS. CHC

Wolf may not pitch well in this one, but he does have a good chance to get it going against a Cubs team that cannot hit anybody.  Wolf pitched a 6 INN shutout against the Cubs earlier this season, so there is hope on his side.

15. AARON HARANG @ PHI

16. CHIEN-MING WANG VS. NYM

17. MARK BUEHRLE VS. ATL

Mark’s been struggling as of late, but he does return home where he owns an ERA of 3.38.  He struggled against the Braves in his last outing allowing 4 ER in 6 INN, and this one could be very similar.

18. MIKE LEAKE VS. PIT

Leake has come a long way to be a relevant pitching option today.  He has 3 QS’s in his last 4 appearances, and he owns a 2.84 career ERA against the Pirates. It is risky, but there is upside in using Leake in this one.

19. J.A.  HAPP VS. STL

Happ is pitching well after his terrible start.  He has 4 consecutive QS’s, and 27 Ks in the last 25.1 INN.  Five Cardinal players have hit HR’s off of J.A. including Allen Craig who has 2 HR in 7 ABs, along with a .714 average.  This one will be a real challenge, but J.A. is capable.

20. KEVIN CORREIA @ CIN

Kevin has allowed HR’s to 6 different Red players.  He has allowed 8 HRs in the last 6 games, and this seems like it has trouble written all over it.

21. HENDERSON ALVAREZ @ CWS

Alvarez has not pitched well since early May.  The White Sox offense have a lot of weapons for a pitcher who struggles to get strike outs.

22. JASON MARQUIS VS. SF

Marquis has yet to have a QS this season, and there is no reason to think he is even close to turning that corner.  SF should easily win this one with their ace Cain on the hill.

23. CASEY CROSBY VS. CLE

24. MIKE MINOR @ MIA

Minor has not had a QS since April 19th.  Last time he faced the Marlins he allowed 6 ER in 4.2 INN.  This one will be ugly.  Giancarlo Stanton, Hanley Ramirez, and Logan Morrison have all HR’d off of Minor in his young career.
