BEAST DOME NATION.

I will use this space to talk about J.P. Arencibia.  I’m sure 95% of BEAST DOME feels the loss of maybe the hottest hitting catcher in the game.  Hopefully he can bounce back for a strong September, but chances are a broken hand will hurt his power numbers when he returns.  He is young so he can heal, for now I would look to add the next best thing.

Right now the next best thing at catcher is….

ADD: DEREK NORRIS

And for all those teams looking for a waiver wire replacement for Alex Rodriguez

ADD: RYAN ROBERTS

I made a bold prediction predicting J.P. ARENCIBIA would finish as the #5 catcher in fantasy baseball on FantasyPros.

Here are his rankings with all catchers.

HR: 16 (T-2nd)
RBI: 50 (5th place)
Average: .242.  Last season was .219 and he was hitting .311 in July.

He is currently having a better statistical season  when comparing him to:

MATT WIETERS: 12 HR. 46 RBI. .240 Average.
CARLOS SANTANA: 7 HR. 37 RBI. .234 Average.
MIKE NAPOLI: 15 HR. 35 RBI. .232 Average.

Great season J.P. wish you the best and a strong September.  I will be drafting you again next season.

DAILY DRAFTSTREET TEAM (July 26th):

*I cashed in three different leagues, including this league below twice.

HITTER:

BRANDON HICKS ($2,850) @ AARON LAFFEY

There is nothing sexy about this pick.  But for the price is too good to pass up especially since all the other SS options have been nothing special.  By adding Hicks you give your chance for some garbage points at a very low price.  Especially at a thin position when you can get the better pitchers.

PITCHER:

JAMES SHIELDS ($12,236) VS. BAL

The Orioles are really struggling to hit the ball, and that bodes well for Shields who is having consistency issues.  The price is similar to Tim Lincecum’s bust price from yesterday, but it is worth the price of admission.

BET OF THE DAY (July 26th):

Week 12: 6-1

Week 13: 5-2

Week 14: 3-4

Week 15: 1-2

Week 16: 4-3

Week 17: 2-1

ARIZONA MONEY LINE

After being embarrassed by the Rockies at home, you can expect Wade Miley and the D-Backs to take it up a notch against rookie Matt Harvey and the Mets.  The Mets just got sweeped by the Nationals in New York, and this is quickly turning into a situation where the Mets become sellers at the dead line.
