The #1 Pick in Fantasy Baseball cannot just be the most dominating player, because the truth is. Fantasy Baseball is more of a team game than any Fantasy sport. In Football you can have a Marshall Faulk who would literally break the scoreboard every week PPR Leagues in St. Louis. A big performance from Faulk almost guarantees the bare minimum to be close enough to win. In Baseball, one player means absolutely nothing when you tally up the stats of a 162 game season from 8+ Offensive starters. That is also only 50% of your total standings as pitching makes up the other half.
With all the stats being the same, Trea Turner however stands out. The reason why he stands out, is because his numbers are the most dominant numbers for any infielder in Fantasy Baseball. Sure there will always be a 30+ HR potential in Jose Ramirez, even Max Muncy might end up with similar HR numbers who goes way later. However there will be nobody like Trea Turner who can steal 50 bases in a season. While Trea has never attempted such a number, he can definitely run with the best of them and this Phillies lineup is loaded with talent. Note he did not even hit leadoff with the Dodgers last season, which makes it impossible to have big stolen base numbers.
This year Trea Turner is hitting leadoff, and the last thing the pitcher can worry about is holding Trea Turner close to 1st, one mistake pitch to Schwarb/Hoskins/Harper/Realmuto/Castle, it is an automatic run for Turner. Phillies are going to explode on offense, Trea Turner will literally walk/run/single/SB/HR his way to monster numbers every night. Very friendly hitter park for Trea this year, look for 30 HR/100 RBI/50 SB hits .300, and the league leader in Runs. Trea just has to show up and he will have an easy MVP campaign.
