The 49ers made the biggest splash in the Trade Market getting a very underrated Power RB in Brian Robinson Jr. for a bag of chips. Why in the world do the Commanders think they do not need Brian Robinson is crazy?! He is not expensive, he is talented, and he is the best RB the Commanders have. While many have speculated that he does not fit the Jayden Daniels type of RB to play next to him, because they want to spread things out. This logic would mean Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry is not a good 1-2 Punch and the Ravens would be better off with Justice Hill or Keaton Mitchell.
The Commanders are happy with a RB trio that consist of Austin Ekeler who has not been fantasy relevant since 2022, Chris Rodriguez Jr. who is surprisingly in the league despite not really doing much in his many years of work in the NFL, The Bill Croskey Show, and Jeremy McNichols who has the best first name in the NFL. Together they make the Mediocre Four.
As for the 49ers, Isaac Guerendo who was pegged as the handcuff to CMC, is very slow at RB is now completely irrelevant, and a Rookie Card that is worth pennies. Brian Robinson Jr. slots himself as the backup RB for the 49ers and while it is unlikely he sees any playing time while CMC is healthy, when he is ready to step in it will be like the 49ers never lost a thing. Well, Robinson does not catch the ball like CMC, but as an actual Running Back, Brian Robinson Jr. could put up massive games on the ground if his opportunity rises. Based off of the history of CMC, it seems destined that Robinson will get a spotlight on him at some point in the season.
Regardless of it all, the Commanders really messed up on this move. Jayden Daniels is being asked to run more with this trade which is good, but also bad, do not forget it seemed like he cracked his ribs multiple times last year and the NFL is a VERY LONG SEASON, even though it feels so short. Come playoff time if Jayden Daniels is beat up at all, it would be the end of the Commanders run, but first they actually have to make the playoffs and not having a reliable bruising RB that can take 15+ carries in a game while punishing the defense at the same time is going to make things a little harder than they need to be.
