KAELON BLACK. BEAST OR BUST

Christian McCaffrey owners had a mini heart scare on opening night of the Football season, well opening Thursday. Kaelon Black was taking a lot of carries, and CMC was sitting on the sidelines, sometimes for what seemed like entire drives. To give credit Kaelon Black did look good, but to give truth, that was basically like the preseason opener CMC. The 49ers are not just going to start the season giving CMC 30+ touches in game one, right after a season where he saw 400+ touches including minor injuries in the preseason. So to no surprise, Kaelon Black was getting a good amount of touches in Week 1.

There was a play CMC got hit in the ribs, and took a large amount of plays off in a row in the first half. In that time, Kaelon looked like a respectable backup RB, but the keyword there is backup. A lot of carries in that 10 yard window, looked like a worst version of Mike Washington Jr. When the game was out of hand in the 4th quarter, Black took even more carries which ended up giving him more than CMC. At the end of the day, Kaelon Black is not worth rostering for anything more as the official handcuff to CMC. Sure you can grab him if your league is very deep, and use him as trade bait to the CMC owner. However as far as being a RB you will ever use in your fantasy lineup, your odds of getting any solid production is slim. This is the Christian McCaffrey show, Kaelon Black is a breather RB at very best for CMC this season.

VERDICT. BUST

*Unless there is a CMC injury. If you own CMC, heavily consider adding Black as insurance.
