If there is a conspiracy theory, I will listen to it. Does not mean I will agree with it, but I will lend my ear for someone to make a case. When Dre Greenlaw tore his Achillies running onto the field for the 49ers Super Bowl game against the Chiefs in 2024, the conspiracy theory came out about the 49ers electric substation. I lent an ear, but did not take it completely seriously. In 2025 the BEAST DOME Draft Strategy contained Christian McCaffrey as a fine weapon and I ranked him ahead of ECR, and he performed as the #1 RB in Fantasy Football. However in the process of CMC dominating, nearly every 49er fell to the ground and did not get up, except for Brock Purdy. Most notable injury was George Kittle and his Achillies.
Now we are in 2026, and the injuries are really piling up for the 49ers. Through five days of practice, we already have nine injuries.

At this point, it is no longer a conspiracy theory the electric substation is a problem. We still have 6+ months of practices left in this enviornment, and the Fantasy Football season is too important to waste a precious pick on someone who can go down because of a practice enviroment.
The name that really comes to mind when thinking about this enviornment for this upcoming season is Christian McCaffrey. While it is one problem for CMC if he were to get injured, but if key weapons on the offensive line go down, or even other targets for Brock, CMC can find himself on a bad offense where defenses can really focus on loading the box. Right now it is not an issue because CMC is not hurt, but one news update that CMC is banged up and it will all go downhill from there. His trade value will fall, he could end up missing games, and most important, the 49ers season could crumble to the ground and they fall out of the playoff picture in December. If the 49ers fell out of playoff picture with CMC banged up, they will not rush him back.
Let us not forget, the one downfall to CMC as a Fantasy Football player over the course of his career is staying healthy. Last season was his first healthy season since 2022, and in the process CMC touched the ball 413 times in the regular season alone! 2023 + 2024 CMC played a combined 20 games, and even in those 20 games he combined for 403 touches. What made it possible for CMC to touch the ball so much in 2025 is because he only played 4 games in 2024. The workload was very heavy last season, and now at the age of 30 with an electric substation taking down the whole team left and right, my check engine light has alerted me on CMC and I am no longer going out of my way to take him in the 1st Round. If I do take him, I know the risk factor is significant, and at this point we do not know who the handcuff will be.
