FANTASY FOOTBALL ROOKIE PROFILE

ASHTON JEANTY BEAST OR BUST

BEAST DOME NATION.

If you read my FANTASYPROS BEAST OR BUST Segment. You will have seen Ashton Jeanty on there with the promise that if I saw enough I would make him a FEATURED BUST.

You can search all of my Rookie Profile articles by using the BEAST DOME search bar on the right or scrolling through the Fantasy Football category.

After one preseason game, I have seen enough to officially say he will disappoint. Now let me put this in context before you come at me with your pitchforks. Right now Ashton Jeanty is going in the 1st or 2nd Round of Fantasy Football Drafts, which means he has to perform like a 1st Round or 2nd Round Pick or there is going to be BUST value. This was similar to Bijan Robinson, how he was drafted as a Top 3 Fantasy RB his Rookie Season, he finished near my Ranking in the Mid-20s. You can read about that in the Throw Back BEAST Day article earlier this Summer.

Ashton Jeanty does not look like the same dominant RB who was going up against San Jose State at Midnight on the last game of the day. Now he is a little RB going up against amazing defenses. Even the worst NFL defense he faces, will be 100x harder than most of his college opponents. Jeanty is not standing up straight like he used to in college, because he is no longer playing this game on Rookie Mode, Jeanty is playing All-Madden mode. When Jeanty gets the ball, he has to break tackles of guys 3x the size of him right away.

While there is some potential of garbage time stats, and just automatic touches that will keep Jeanty fantasy relevant and playing like a RB2 Floor pretty much no matter what. However there are plenty of RBs who go in Round 4+ who will likely put up similar if not better numbers than Jeanty who I have seen go Top 3 at the RB position in most Fantasy Football Drafts.

The way of the Sheep is to over hype rookies, some deserve it, others do not. Jeanty while amazing what he did in College, it always comes down to opponents. Jeanty was working magic against guys who were not superstars in College, now all he is playing against is superstars from College. If you want to ruin your Fantasy Football team, build it around a Rookie RB on a last place team with Geno Smith running his last NFL contract into the ground.
