Once upon a time the Saints had the best passing offense in the NFC. Drew Brees was a lock to be one of the leaders in passing yards and touchdowns. Marques Colston would get his 1,000+ yard season, Jimmy Graham would be a TE1 in Fantasy Football, and even Robert Meachem would catch a few Touchdowns. Drew Brees retired on top, losing a playoff game. Then the Saints brought in Derek Carr who completely robbed the Saints Franchise. BEAST DOME was on top of Derek Carr being a BUST with the Saints.
Usually when the NFL season begins, every team has at least one player who is capable of being a quality QB. For the Saints, this is not the case. Derek ‘Lemon Daddy’ Carr is gone, and the Saints have Tyler Shough with Spencer ‘Not Mahomes’ Rattler, cannot forget about Jake ‘Zesty’ Haener. This QB trio might be the worst QB trio in NFL history, all of them are better suited for a CFL roster than a NFL roster. If I were the Saints, I would bring in Tim Boyle.
The Saints do have Taysom Hill who is recovering from a Torn ACL, he is expected to be back with the Saints at some point, but hard to imagine he has much tread left on those tires. Maybe he can be the passing QB the Saints once promised him to be. While the Saints have Chris Olave back from the dead, and Shaheed healthy once again, the Saints also brought in their former legend Brandin Cooks. Three able body WRs who can get down field, but once again the Saints have a problem, they have no QB.
We will see what the Saints end up doing, I find it hard to believe they go into the season with these three guys, they could arguably pick up whoever the Browns drop as the Browns will not carry 4 QBs, nor will the Titans. If I were the Saints, and Tim Boyle was not on the table, the best move is to get Kirk Cousins for cheap and see if he has one more season left in him. The Falcons pre-maturely benched Kirk last year, while Pennix looked decent in his few starts to end the year, he was still on the same level as Cousins who you cannot forget threw for 503 Yards and 4 TDs in October!
