After my last update, things have turned for the worst for Sports Gambling in general. All of a sudden as part of the BBB (Not Big Baller Brand) it now appears it does not make financial sense to gamble in 2026.

Basically if you do not want to read or do your own research. You can only claim 90% of your losses against your wins. Meaning if you break even, you will pay taxes. If you win money, you can end up owing more in taxes than you actually won. Yes it is that bad. Now when you win, you still lose. While I love the DFS game and have dedicated over a decade to the craft, if you pay more in taxes than you actually win, what is the point of doing it? If I win $100,000 I could owe $200,000 and would end up losing money in the end. It makes each entry that much more meaningful, which could lean towards my favor. However the game has changed and it really changes the landscape of the whole thing. At that point it really becomes a Gambling Problem if you cannot even win when you win.

Then on Thursday, Bonta laid down the hammer. BAN on Daily Fantasy Sports. Then hours later, Class Action Lawsuits started being handed out to DraftKings/Prize Picks etc. Then Fantasy Spin announced they are pulling out of California.

THIS COULD BE IT. NO DFS IN CA.

I am in Limbo. I feel I need to go to Arizona, closest state that allows DFS. However I have a very nice apartment lined up in Los Angeles, Mid-August Move in date, that I could call home and be very proud to live in. The Draft Guide is delayed until I can make sure I have the exact right mindset ready for it. And I must admit, it is kind of a blessing that the Draft Guide has not come out. Still moves in the NFL happening, for everyone else who has already locked into their guys for this season, they are not seeing the whole picture because they are so focused on what they see already, but the entire landscape is changing. My vision will be with fresh eyes, fresh heart, and a knowing that this is the last year I can go all-in on my life being a BEAST.
