FANTASY FOOTBALL THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS WEEK 9
WORLD SERIES

BEAST DOME NATION.
What a time it is to be a Philadelphia fan. Phillies could win the World Series, 76ers could win the NBA Championship, and the Eagles can win the Super Bowl. Philly is riding high with all the Primetime spotlight, and that spotlight continues to Thursday Night Football as the Eagles travel to Houston to play the Texans. Wait. Are we in the matrix, that the Eagles/Texans are playing each other at the same time as the Phillies/Astros?
It is a bit odd, but unlike the World Series, this game will be anything but exciting. Though the last two games of the World Series have been blowouts.
The Texans massaged their way out of being a valuable Football Franchise for the last couple of seasons. Davis Mills is getting way too much of a run at starting QB for a player who will be nothing more than a 3rd string QB when it is time for his next contract. Mills does not throw players open, he takes what the defense gives him, and even that takes him a few more seconds to process than most QBs. This Eagles defense comes fast and heavy, especially with Robert Quinn coming off the edge. Mills will not have Brandin Cooks or Nico Collins, which means he has no chance of getting it to his WRs with Slay and Bradberry watching scrubs come in and out trying to get open. Dameon Pierce, the lone bright spot, will not be much of a factor in this game when the Texans are coming from behind.
Eagles offense is on cruise control. AJ Brown/Dallas G/Devonta Smith, all can get open whenever they want against the Texans secondary, and Jalen Hurts can always make any defense pay with his legs. Miles Sanders is running wild, and Gainwell should even get some touches in the 2nd half. The Eagles offense can score anyway they want against the Texans. Playing on the road in a cozy dome will help this offense more than playing in a cold Philadelphia.

Who do I like to win the World Series?
Both the Phillies and Astros are great teams, and baseball is a game where .0001 of an inch of contact on the bat is the difference between hitting a pop out, or a HR. For anyone to spill all their guts out on why one team is going to win over the other, there is no point. At the end of the day, it is .0001 inch of a difference for the difference of every play. Neither the Phillies nor the Astros are better than the other, and baseball is a sport where even the Rockies can beat the Dodgers on a random day.
However I will give you this stat.
All three Philadelphia baseball titles…
… have been followed by a recession, per The Wall Street Journal.
- In 1929, the Philadelphia Athletics’ championship was followed by the Great Depression.
- In 1980, the Phillies’ first title was followed by a three-year recession.
- In 2008, the Phillies’ most recent win was followed by the financial crisis.
So at the end of the day, IF history repeats itself, with the way our country is heading. The Phillies are likely to win the World Series. While everyone hates the Astros, they may be America’s team.
