FANTASY BASKETBALL WAIVER WIRE:

CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINS NOW (Week 21)

BEAST DOME NATION.

The Fantasy Basketball Playoffs are approaching, so it’s important to know what key Free Agents can give you that Extra Push to put you in the Playoffs.  This article will be featuring players that are owned in less than 60% of CBS Leagues.  All of these Players Are Must-Add in 10 Team Leagues.

MUST ADD FANTASY BASKETBALL PLAYERS

*FOR CHAMPIONSHIP RUN*

JERMAINE O’NEAL – C – PHX (54% Owned)

It is not often that you can find a Center on the Waiver Wire this late in the season that offers Double/Double potential every night.  But Jermaine O’Neal is that guy as Marcin Gortat is out for the Year, and Jermaine is playing like it’s 2008 with a playoff berth on the line.  Not only does Jermaine offer the potential 15 Point/12 Rebound night, but he will rack up the block shots and FT% above the 75 marker making him an immediate Fantasy Impact player.

JONAS VALANCUNIAS – C – TOR (42% Owned)

Jonas has been impressing the Fantasy Basketball World since his game against the Lakers where he was able to get 12 Points/6 Rebounds in limited minutes.  Now the Raptors are running him 30+ Minutes a night, and he is delivering with near double-doubles to go with the low-end blocks and good FT%.  As long as Jonas is playing in the wind for at least 30 Minutes, he is a serviceable Center in most Fantasy Basketball Leagues.

DEVIN HARRIS – PG – ATL (37% Owned)

Somehow someway, there is a potential 15 Point/10 Assist PG sitting on nearly all Waiver Wires this late in the season.  Yes it is entirely possible that Jeff Teague’s big Sunday Night may have won the starting PG job back.  But there is no reason for the Hawks not run Devin 30+ Minutes a night at the SG/PG combo spot.  This week he gained the confidence to run the Hawks while Jeff Teague recovered from his ankle sprain, and that confidence should carry on through the rest of the season.  Add Devin Harris if you need assists.

SHAUN LIVINGSTON – PG – CLE (34% Owned)

Just like it is a surprise a 15/10 Assist guard like Devin Harris is on a lot of wires.  So is the “Wirey” Shaun Livingston who is now getting a shot at redemption with the Cleveland Cavaliers.  With Kyrie Irving more than likely to sit out the Rest Of The Season as the Cavs have nothing to play for, Shaun Livingston will get his chance at 30+ Minutes nearly every night.  More often than not Shaun is a matchup nightmare as a 6’7 PG, which means 10 Points/5 Assists should be automatic despite his lack of skill.

REGGIE EVANS – PF – BRK (31% Owned)

Reggie is the definition of a Junk Yard Dog.  A Junk Yard Dog is basically what Dennis Rodman was, and what Reggie Evans has become.  He is now recording 20+ Rebound performances more consistently than Dwight Howard.  The scoring will likely be below double digits every night, but the huge rebounding performances make up for it if you really need to close the gaps in Rebounds.  Grab Reggie before it’s too late.

JOSH MCROBERTS – PF – CHA (21% Owned)

Mr. Double-Double is a nickname Josh McRoberts has never been called since his days at Duke.  But now the former Blue Devil is back near Duke Town in Charlotte and is playing big time minutes for a struggling Bobcats team.  McRoberts has PG skills at a Lamar Odom level, and the assists numbers to go along with the 10 Point/10 Rebounds as well as the blocks and Steals.  Josh McBob is a great Fantasy Sleeper who can carry your team until the Bobcats figure out what they’re going to do.

WESLEY JOHNSON -G/F- PHX (12% Owned)

The Phoenix Suns are playing the game, “Lets play for 2014.”  With 2013 completely out of reach, the Suns will be experimenting with all young players including Wesley Johnson.  Wesley was the #4 pick back in 2010 and played in a crowded SG/SF role for the Wolves.  After showing some 12 Point/5 Rebound/1 Steal/1 Block/1 3pTM per game potential, the Suns decided to take a chance on him.  Now with the Suns throwing in the towel, Wesley will get every opportunity to prove he is that type of player.  This 12% will only grow as the season continues.

WAIVER WIRE FLUKES

*FOR CHAMPIONSHIP RUN*

RODNEY STUCKEY – SG – DET (59% Owned)

While Stuckey is starting to ball it up like its 2010, the Detroit Pistons will stick with Brandon Knight as the starting SG when healthy.  The Pistons are not playing for much besides completing the season, which means they want to put out their future star Guard as often as they can.  While Brandon Knight is not a definite star, he is still a PG the Pistons want to count on for the remainder of the next few years.  Rodney is looking at 15 Points Max/game when Knight is healthy.

ANTAWN JAMISON – PF – LAL (31% Owned)

It is easy to get excited for Antawn Jamison and his big weekend.  Especially when he caps it off with a 27 Point Performance.  Bad news though for Jamison, not only will Kobe eventually return to take away shot attempts.  But Pau Gasol will return very shortly and he will take away a major portion of his playing time.  Antawn will get his hot nights off the bench, but his hot nights will not make up for his lack of consistency.

DARREN COLLISON – PG – DAL (88% Owned)

No reason for Darren Collison to be owned in 88% of leagues when Mike James is the starting PG.  Mike is the veteran leader and at times is a better fit for this offense when they want to be more efficient than high scoring.  Collison will not be getting 6+ Assists as consistent as he needs to.  The reason he needs to is because his scoring will barely hit above the 15 marker, there are better options on your wire guaranteed.
