Muntradamus Calls Of The Week (9)

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Another week in the books of what is surely going to be a journey of ups and downs.  Many of you were burned this past week by a lot of under-performers, while many of you had automatic losses if you faced up against Doug Martin.  Not a bad week in the Expert Consensus Rankings for me, I had plenty of sleepers that will give me plenty of room to move up.

Here are the Top 10 Muntradamus Calls of the Week (9)

*ECR (Expert Consensus Ranking from all the Top Fantasy Websites)

#10

SIDNEY RICE – WR – SEA

Muntradamus WR Rank #27

Expert Consensus Rank #37

Result: 25 Passing Yards/5 Receptions/54 Yards/ 1 TD.

Sidney is quickly becoming a house hold name at BEAST DOME.  Also known as #BreakYourNeck Sidney should now have convinced everyone everything they need to know about Sidney this season.  He is a player that can score a TD every week, and is turning into a solid WR#2 when the matchup is right.  For now pencil him in as a lock-down WR#3.

#9

JAMES STARKS/ISAAC REDMAN/MARK INGRAM – RB – GB/PIT/NO

Muntradamus RB Rank Average #28.333

Expert Consensus Rank Average #38.66

The trio of RBs were all recommended in my end of week waiver wire.  All of them produced to an acceptable level, Isaac Redman was clearly the best.  Regardless, my average definitely beats the ECR of these sleeper RBs.  Long-Term, Starks has the best run of way value, while the other two are week-to-week.

#8

MARCEL REECE – RB – OAK

Muntradamus RB Rank #48

Expert Consensus Rank #78

Result: 8 Receptions/95 Yards

Only three other experts had him ranked in the top 50.  Most did not even take the time to rank him.  Marcel was a great sleeper pick as the Raiders love their FB/TE/RB.  It was only a matter of time to see this breakout performance, make sure you add him on your fantasy teams.

#7

CAM NEWTON – QB – CAR

Muntradamus QB Rank #2

Expert Consenus Rank #7

Results: 201 Yards/1 TD/37 Yards Rushing/1 TD

The only big name QBs to have bigger games than Cam were Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning.  I liked his matchup, and he barely saved his day with a rushing TD.  Those 6 Points on the scrambling TD is equivalent to 150 Passing Yards, and that will give Cam a very nice boost in the rankings for me.

#6

KEVIN OGLETREE – WR – DAL

Muntradamus WR Rank #50

Expert Consensus Rank #70

Result: 3 Receptions/96 Yards/1 TD

Boom!  That sleeper call right there will definitely help me out.  The fact that most Experts did not even consider him a Top 50 option (The Cutoff) baffles me.  I was one of the 7 Experts out of 100+ that did (#48 Highest).  Ogle gave us a small glimpse of Week 1, a glimpse we not see for some random blue moon.

#5

DESEAN JACKSON – WR – PHI

Muntradamus WR Rank #6

Expert Consensus Rank #21

Result: 3 Receptions/100 Yards/ 1 TD.

Desean is as BEAST or BUST as it gets.  This week I liked the matchup against the Saints, many experts did not, and Desean performed like a superstar.

#4

JOHN SKELTON – QB – ARI

Muntradamus QB Rank #15

Expert Consenus Rank #23

Result: 306 Yards/1 TD/1 INT

Skelton had a solid performance with over 300 Yards and a TD.  The Packers defense is starting to show some vulnerability, they now have a bye week so you are sure to see them lock it up coming back into Week 11.  Injuries have made this defense a lot worst than it actually is.  The #15 Ranking I gave Skelton was higher than any other expert.  In fact only one other expert out of the entire field of 100+ had him even close to me at #17.

#3

PERCY HARVIN – WR – MIN

Muntradamus WR Rank #25

Expert Consensus Rank #6

Result: 2 Reception/10 Yards/4 Carries/24 Yards/1 Fumble

Percy suffered a pretty bad ankle sprain.  Hopefully he gets better soon.  I did not like this matchup for Percy against a great Seattle secondary in Seattle.  More importantly, I do not like Christian Ponder.  Not sure if I can stress that issue enough like I have been in pretty much every Fantasy Haiku since his terrible performance Week 4.  His inability to do well hurts all the superstars around him, in fact I ranked Ponder worst than every QB on the board.  No other expert liked Percy less than my ranking suggested.

# 2

JORDY NELSON – WR – GB

Muntradamus WR Rank #41

Expert Consensus Rank #23

Result: 0

The big Fat Zero for Jordy Nelson.  A lot of experts had him ranked in the top 10.  I announced on Twitter Early in the Sunday Morning Chat that Jordy was a risky play and you should start the safer option.  Too bad for his owners that he left the game early with an ankle injury.  Word is that he will be fine coming back from the bye in Week 11.  Jordy no doubt cost his fantasy owners that rolled the dice on him.

# 1

ROBERT GRIFFIN III – QB – WAS

Muntradamus QB Rank #10

Expert Consensus Rank #4

Result: 215 Yards Passing/53 Yards Rushing.

RGIII backed up everything I have been telling you all along.  His passing numbers are nothing that is close to sure-fire, which means you have to count on his rushing TDs to save the day.  Not going to happen every week, this week it did not.  RGIII in reality was the #17 QB in Fantasy Football this week.  Only one other expert had RGIII ranked below me.

Fantasy Football Haiku’s come out later Tuesday to recap all of your players action.

  1. I remember reading that you liked Cam over RG3. The percent starts by yahoo league players did not agree. The predicted points from yahoo did not agree. I went with Cam, thank you. You never cease to amaze Munt. Good luck to all in week 10.

  2. Got a question.I have d.martin.is he a sell high candidate? Or do you think his schedule ROS is good?I remember you saying that you would rather have forte over martin rest of season.just curious.thanks for the free advice and good luck in your fantasy journeys.

  3. Just traded Jordy Nelson and DMC for Ryan Mathews and Desean Jackson. I also have R. Bush, Alex Green, Nicks, Julio Jones, and Reggie Wayne. We start 3 WRs and 2 RBs. Thoughts?

  4. I need help at wide receiver NOW. No time to wait. I offered gimpy Percy Harvin for Sidney Rice? Your thoughts?

  5. do i roll with vernon davis this week coming off bye or pick up gresham off waivers??? i have olsen and used him this past week cause davis was on bye..keep olsen and paly him???

  6. we are a 12 team, 1 point ppr with a flex:

I am ok at almost all positions except #2 RB. This is where Shonn Green sits behind Mcgahee. (I also have Daniel Thomas and Starks stashed).

My WRs are STACKED and are all BEASTS.
    Julio, Calvin, and Andre.

Would you make a move to upgrade the number 2 RB or just ride it out? Trade deadline is this week.

  7. DHB is WR4 and essentially my flex unless J. Finley ever comes around. (gates is TE1)

  8. Keep Greene if you have a good record and if you think you can make it to the playoffs. He has a couple rough matchups coming up but he has a good playoff schedule.

  9. yeah im good at 7-2. I’m also weak at QB but have Dalton, Cutler, and Luck rostered. That should be enough.
