ANY ROOKIES WORTH DRAFTING?

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

The Fantasy Football Season is upon us, and the first question we must ask ourselves before we start anything. Are there any Rookies worth drafting this year?

To answer that question let us look at each team and see if they drafted a player that can make a Fantasy Football Impact. To get the full article, purchase an EARLY BEAST Package.

PRESEASON $50/FULL SEASON $150

NFC WEST

ARIZONA CARDINALS

JOSH ROSEN – QB

One of the first articles I wrote about this season is how the Cardinals blew a ton of money on Sam Bradford. Drafting Rosen could prove to be a bigger waste of money for the signing of Sam Bradford as it is very possible that Rosen is a starter before the 2018 Season is over. How Rose will do remains to be seen, but if the battered up Cardinals O-Line that ended Carson’s Palmer career can give the rookie enough time, Rosen should be able to squeeze a good season out of Larry Fitzgerald. JUNE status QB3.

CHRISITAN KIRK – WR

Kirk should slide right into the slot for the Cardinals this year. Fitzgerald/JJ Nelson on the outside. Kirk does have nice potential and could very well be a Sterling Shepard type of player in Year 1. However the way the Cardinals run their offense, Kirk is going to be too inconsistent to trust on any given Sunday unless there are injuries at the position. Cardinals want to run first, run second, throw to Fitzgerald 3rd. Kirk is unlikely to be drafted in any Fantasy League.

CHASE EDMONDS – RB

No more CJ2K, no more Andre Ellington, no more AP. Chase Edmonds will look to take that role of the backup RB to David Johnson, potentially. Regardless of who ends up as the backup RB for the Cardinals, they are not worth rostering as David Johnson will play every snap there is. IF DJ had to miss time, a likely RBBC would happen, Edmonds is a small 3rd down type of RB. Likely will not be drafted in any Fantasy League.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

MIKE MCGLINCHEY – TACKLE

Offensive line boost with their first round pick. McGlinchey should slide right into the Right Tackle spot which could help the running game with Jerick McKinnon who I wrote as a BUST right away.

McKinnon is going to be grossly overpaid so he will get the opportunity to win this job, and Jimmy G is the real deal at QB so McKinnon’s future is not as bleak as it appears. However there are a lot better RBs in the league who would thrive more than McKinnon would, do not be surprised to see Matt Brieda eat a lot of PT this year at RB.

DANTE PETTIS – WR

The 49ers burned a 2nd Round Pick on a WR who will likely have a smaller role as a Rookie before a larger role appears. Pierre Garcon and Marqise Goodwin are the #1/#2 options for Jimmy G., however do not be surprised if this playmaker ends up right near the top in stats. Pettis is a special talent with Odell type of break away ability. If Pettis gets easy matchups, he could show he is a threat out of the gate. Likely will not be drafted in any Fantasy league.

LA RAMS

Traded away their entire draft for Brandin Cooks. Grabbed a backup Tackle with their 3rd Round Pick. The rest of the draft they focused on depth. No Rookies worth drafting on this team.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

RASHAAD PENNY – RB

This guy reminds me of Garrison Heart/Frank Gore, but much quicker. He has great upside in the NFL and looks like a starting RB from day one. Chris Carson looked pretty amazing for the Seahawks last season and he is healthy from a Broken Leg, or at least as healthy as he can get. C.J. Prosise is still on the squad, as well as McKissic through the Phone. Penny will enter a crowded backfield, and with everyone healthy. Penny is not a guy that is high on my list, more of a RB3/RB4 until we see how healthy Carson is. Penny has a bright future, but Carroll is really tough to read with the way he plays his RBs.

NFC NORTH

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Vikings did not draft an offensive skill player besides a backup TE in Round 5. Cousins will roll with the team Case Keenum had last year, minus the over paid McKinnon and instead a healthy Dalvin Cook.

GREEN BAY PACKERS

J’MON MOORE – WR

First of all, great name. Moore will come into the season competiting at the #2 outside WR role with Gerinomo Allison, the spot that Jordy Nelson left blank. Moore looks like he can be something speical and definitely has a chance to win that job. If anything were to happen to Davante Adams, Moore would likely be pressed into WR3 caliber range instantly. For now lets say he is WR5 with the potential of being dropped after Week 1.

DETROIT LIONS

 FRANK RAGNOW – C

Always important to have a good bond with Center and QB, with the Lions losing Travis Swanson, Ragnow will be Stafford’s Center for the forseeable future. Lions spent a 1st Round Pick to bring him in.

KERRYON JOHNSON – RB

Whatever Ameed Abdullah hope there was left in Detroit, Kerryon is going to wipe his legacy clean. Abdullah/Riddick/Blount and now Johnson make for a stacked RBBC, Johnson can definitely do the most things but he is a little thin and cannot take a full load of touches this early in his career. Johnson has great upside in his career and could one day be a RB1, for now he is a RB4 until things clear up in that Detroit backfield.

CHICAGO BEARS

JAMES DANIELS – C

Bears got the best Center in the draft, and he looks ready to make an impact from Day 1. Jordan Howard should get a huge boost with runs up the middle all season with Daniels leading the way. Pro Bowl looks to be in his future.

ANTHONY MILLER – WR

Great speed, probably better suited as a slot WR in his NFL Career because of his smaller size. If the Bears can feature a WR core of Allen Robinson/Kevin White/Anthony Miller, then there may be something special there with Trubisky. As for Miller, he will not be drafted in Fantasy Leagues this year, WR5 at very best.
