BEAST DOME NATION.

It was Sunday.

Just finished a great Sunday Morning BEASTchat which is located on the left side of the site.  Love the BEAST DOME NATION and their underground passion for Fantasy Football.  The people who found this site put out a special effort to be here, and those are the people you want to talk Fantasy Football with.  The BEAST DOME NATION CHAT was reporting inactives to Carson Palmer/Doug Martin/Jordan Cameron/Greg Hardy before any mainstream website.  Yes even Rotoworld.  Jumped in my car, ready for gameday.

It was the 1st Quarter of the Redskins game. I just arrived to the Sportsbook learning the Redskins Defense held Jacksonville to a 3 & out.   RGIII time here we go.

Before I can even grab my seat he already has over 20 Yards Rushing and approaching 25 Yards passing.  Most importantly the QB/K was looking money instantly.  I take a seat, I look up and RGIII makes a nice throw to Desean Jackson who picks up 19 Yards.  I start calculating his new totals in my head, but then I see a crowd along the Redskins sideline.

What happened?  Did RGIII knock over a water boy?  No.  What I saw was my Franchise QB laying on the ground with his face in the dirt.  What I saw was the QB I was telling everyone to draft, who was going to have a BREAKOUT year laying on the ground.  I took a deep breath, watched the replay, and I realized his season is possibly done.  Just want to escape with the Win this week and worry about this mess later.  Most importantly hope Kai Forbath can makeup the QB/K that was left behind.

After the game we learn he is out for a Month.  Most importantly we learn that RGIII is now not guaranteed a spot as the QB when he returns. Am I worried.  No, QB is a position that is as deep as the ocean.  That is why in the BEAST strategy unless you were seeing Aaron Rodgers/Drew Brees/Peyton Manning in Round 2 instead of BALL/LYNCH (Arian Foster 1st Round) you were going with one of those guys.  If those guys were gone, you build up your squad then draft a QB later.

Remember.  It is all about the Journey.

It is only the closing ceremony of Week 2

BEAST DOME TRUE STORY

BEAST VIP EXPERIENCE PART I (2012)

BEAST VIP EXERPIENCE PART II (2012)

AS WE ALL KNOW FANTASY FOOTBALL IS A CRUEL MISTRESS. BRINGING US BOTH EXHILARATION AND HEARTACHE ON SUNDAYS. THE ’12 FANTASY SEASON DID NOT END IN A CHAMPIONSHIP FOR ME, I FINISHED A HARD FOUGHT THIRD IN A COMPETITIVE 12 TEAM LEAGUE.  WHERE AS MOST TEAMS WHEN THEY SAY THEY FINISHED THIRD, ITS WITH A SHRUG OR A BIT OF DISGUST IN THEIR VOICE.  KNOWING THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY AN OFF WEEK OR TWO DURING THEIR SEASON.  ONE PLAYER NOT SHOWING UP WHEN NEEDED.  HOWEVER IN THIS CASE.  MY TEAM STARTED THE SEASON 0-6….

LET THAT SINK IN.  0-6 IN A 12 TEAM LEAGUE IS BASICALLY REBUILD MODE. EXCEPT I WASN’T PLAYING IN A KEEPER LEAGUE.  INSTEAD OF GIVING UP. I TURNED TO MY VIP SECRET WEAPON.  MUNTRADAMUS WAS THERE HELPING ME SUPPLEMENT MY SOLID TEAM THAT WAS SPUTTERING.  EACH WEEK AFTER THAT 6TH LOSS BECAME A PLAYOFF GAME.  MUNTRADAMUS WAS THERE EACH WEEK, HELPING ME SELECT MY WAIVER CLAIMS, WITH NOT JUST AN EYE FOR THAT WEEKS CRUCIAL VICTORY, BUT THE COMING WEEK’S AS WELL.  THIS HELPED ME BEAT THE WAIVER CLAIM RUSH FOR KEY PLAYERS, SOMETIMES 2-3 WEEK’S BEFORE OTHER SO CALLED EXPERTS BEGAN TO SPREAD THE WORD. ARTICLES SUCH AS TD’S A MAKE THEM DANCE, HAD ME TRIPLE DIPPING WITH THE TAMPA BAY CREW.   ALSO SUGGESTING TRADES FOR PLAYERS WHO WERE UNDER PERFORMING AT THE TIME.  AND MOST IMPORTANTLY CLAIMING AND TRADING PLAYERS THAT THE OTHER EXPERTS WERE HYPING AS THE NEXT BIG THING IN EXCHANGE FOR CONSISTENT PROVEN PRODUCERS, IE TURNING FELIX JONES INTO JASON WITTEN.  ONE WIN, TURNED TO TWO, WHICH BECAME THREE.  THEN MY SOLID DRAFT CHOICES STARTED PERFORMING LIKE THEIR DRAFTED SLOTS. FOUR WINS IN A ROW TURNED INTO FIVE. MY TEAM WENT FROM LAUGHING STOCK, TO WORRISOME, TO PLAYOFF SPOILER, TO THREAT FOR A PLAYOFF SPOT.

BY WEEK 13, WE HAD ACTUALLY WORKED OUR WAY TO A GAME OVER .500 AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE LAST PLAYOFF SPOT.  AND I USED THE TERM WE, BECAUSE MUNTRA HAD BASICALLY BECOME A CO-OWNER. REVELING IN EACH VICTORY AND WORKING HARDER TO HELP KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE.  WE WON THE FIRST PLAYOFF GAME AND PUT THE STREAK AT EIGHT.  AT THAT POINT MY TEAM WAS FEARED. AND THOUGHT OF AS THE 2ND BEST TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS.  SADLY THE STREAK CAME TO AN END AGAINST THE EVENTUAL CHAMPION, LOSING BY 5.  HOWEVER WE FINISHED STRONG WITH ANOTHER WIN TO TAKE 3RD PLACE.  AFTER STARTING 0-6, I THOUGHT I WAS PLAYING FOR PRIDE, SO THE COMBINATION OF WINNING 3RD PLACE AND THE AWE AND ENVY OF MY COMPETITORS MADE THIS SEASON ALMOST AS SWEET AS A CHAMPIONSHIP RUN.  I COULDN’T HAVE HAD SUCH A STRONG FINISH WITHOUT MUNTRADAMUS.

THE VIP #1 SERVICE WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY.  I WILL NOT ONLY BE BACK FOR THE VIP SERVICE FOR FOOTBALL NEXT SEASON. BUT I WILL BE USING IT FOR THE UPCOMING BASEBALL SEASON.  THERE ARE MANY FANTASY SITES YOU CAN GO TO FOR GENERIC REGURGITATED INFORMATION, BUT IF YOU WANT UNIQUE AND FRESH ANALYSIS WITH SOMEONE THAT BUYS INTO YOUR TEAM LOOK NO FURTHER.”

QB

WAIVER WIRE (Week 2-3)

Let me start out by saying.

DO NOT DROP RGIII

While I will admit the ankle injury is something that can limit his game going forward.  He is still RGIII and he is still one of the most talented players in the game today with a schedule that will make any Fantasy Owner excited.  I am not worried about him losing his job, and I would much rather drop another BEAST DOME star in the name of Jarrett Boykin instead if you need to.  While Davante Adams is the guy who will likely be HOT off the WIRE and I reccomend him in all leagues, it is important to keep rolling with RGIII on your bench.  See if your team can survive because the last thing you want, is to lose to the team that has RGIII later in the year.

As far as the Jarrett Boykin situation goes.  After seeing 0 Targets in Week 1 on Sherman Island, he secured his first reception in Week 2, but then did not go BEAST MODE to catch an easy TD.  Then he saw another target his way, only to go up very soft and let the DB easily make a play.  If that was a Star WR like Vincent Jackson.  Easy TD.

Davante Adams played like Jarrett Boykin and nearly got a TD as he was tackled on the 1.  Even though his feet were in the endzone the throw led him back to the goal line.  Davante was on the field the rest of the game, while Boykin watched on the sideline from the 2nd quarter on. Fantasy Football is a Cut Throat business.  Keep Boykin on your radar in-case something changes.  As of now, he is on the outside looking in, and you need a QB.  It is very possible we see Boykin’s name another time very soon.

As far as Mark Ingram and his hand injury goes.  I ranked Khiry Robinson ahead of the BUST OF THE YEAR Toby Gerhart in my preseason Rankings.  Go ahead and jump on that Bandwagon.  He is the next Curtis Martin as I have been stressing this to all the BEAST VIPs all preseason.

Gerhart

CHOOSE YOUR QB JOURNEY BELOW

OPTION A. (ALLEY-OOP)

JOSH MCCOWN – QB – TB

YAHOO 29% OWNED

No expert was higher on Josh McCown coming into the 2014 Fantasy Football Season.  I love the fact that McCown has the most underrated best go-2 WR combo in the league.  Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson are bigger and stronger than any CB in the NFL.  McCown literally just has to throw it up in the air and watch one of these two jump up and get it.  They are a Basketball Team.

McCown saved everyone during the Eli Manning collapse of 2013 when Jay Cutler was injured for the Bears last season.  He will save everyone again.  The only thing I do not like about Josh McCown is the play calling of the Bucs.  They go way too run heavy when they have huge mismatches with both star WRs.  Especially in the Redzone.  It cost them in Week 2, so things may change.

*I crossed out an Expert who changed his Rankings after the deadline below*

Mccown1

OPTION B. (RAVEN WITHOUT A WING)

JOE FLACCO – QB – BAL

YAHOO 35% OWNED

More often than not.  The Ravens are going to be a team that needs to throw the ball 50+ Times a week now that Ray Rice is gone.  Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett looked nice last week, but that was more of a matchup situation than anything.  The Ravens will be throwing a lot, Steve Smith SR. aka Triple S gives Flacco his Anquan Boldin type of weapon from their Superbowl run from 2012.  Look for Flacco to have a breakout year as he does what he can to bring the Ravens back to the playoffs.  Have to love their chances against an AFC North that can really go any direction from here.

Flacco1

OPTION C. (TEAM ARIAN)

RYAN FITZPATRICK – QB – HOU

YAHOO 9% OWNED

I will let the video do the talking for me.  This is basically your insurance plan for Arian Foster every week who will not be seeing as many carries as he has after Week 1 and Week 2.  Have to love the Barbarian, but you also want to see him take less carries moving forward as 20+ touches is plenty in todays hard hitting NFL.  Ryan Fitzpatrick can make big things happen in the passing game, his schedule is rock solid, plus you will not get angry when J.J. Watt steals the 1 Yard TD pass after Arian should have had his.

The reason Fitzpatrick has done nothing so far this season is due to the Texans never throwing the ball. Things are going to change in Houston with the amount of carries Arian has seen so far this season.  The Texans have also been dominating every game early on, and have been in kill clock mode.  Instead of put points on the board mode.

Fitzpatrick2

OPTION D. (SETUP MAN)

KIRK COUSINS – QB – WAS

YAHOO 9% OWNED

There is no doubt Cousins can run this Jay Gruden offense like a Pro.  There is one doubt though.  The Redskins will likely be more run Heavy after last weeks dominant showcase by Alfred Morris who has to see his 20+ Carries every week now that RGIII is hurt.  Cousins can still sling the ball and pick up those 300 Yard/2 TD performances that leave you with a smile on your face.  Depending on how many players you can drop, it is not a bad idea to stash Cousins and see if he is the real deal, instead of being a QB that failed to get the ball to Pierre Garcon all game even with Desean Jackson OUT.  Desean as of now is 75/25 to play on Sunday which should leave you with confidence.  As much as I like Cousins, I am not in LOVE with him.  As far as RGIII getting his job back when he returns.  I would be very shocked if he lost his job even if Cousins plays well.  RGIII has weapons that no QB has, he is a very talented QB not just with his running, but also his touch on deep/short/medium throws.  Look at this as a setback, and stash RGIII for the time being.

WHAT TO DO WITH RIDE OR KAI

(KAI FORBATH)

For everyone who was rocking the QB/K.  It is time to jump to a new strategy.  No you are not just going to pick the best Kicker.  You are going to roll with Randy Bullock the Kicker of the Texans to protect Arian Foster.  Everytime Arian gets stopped in the redzone as he will see the ball on 2 of the 3 downs, you get the chip in FG instead.  We will call this strategy.  PLAN B.EAST.

WHEN RGIII comes back, you can jump right back on the QB/K combo.  Nobody will add Kai Forbath in their fantasy leagues.

RIDE OR KAI

If you do not own Arian Foster.  Time to go with..

I SUNK YOUR BATTLESHIP

TEAM BEAST DOME.

Will be rolling with Josh McCown on Thursday Night Football

McCown2

As far as TEAM BEAST DOME in Week 2.  This is how it looks going into Monday Night Football. Top 6 Teams get wins, we will see.  Find out what happens on Thursday.

  1. Munt, I already have Cutler on my bench so I can roll with him and go QBK still with Gould. That would be Plan A right?

Also, will be dropping Boykin and Gresham. Thinking of picking up Rainey and Dornell (fill in for Reed until he returns). Should I even bother with Rainey or stash Cousins instead?

  2. Ya if you have Cutler/Romo any of those type of high-end backups which was recommended as a strategy early on. You are solid at QB.

Go with Rainey>Cousins. You can Ride the Jay Cutler train all season long.

  3. Great article Munt!!! Really bummed about Rg3 mainly because I’m a skins fans. Grabbed a good second qb in Ryan so all good here

  4. This is why I follow you Munt. Just when it looks like the sky is falling in beastland. You come through with some great strategy content to talk me off the ledge!

  5. Doug Martin is going to have an explosive season. Look for him to be the guy on Thursday Night and show us flashes of how dominant he is. Bucs after the game said he could of played, but for some reason wanted to wait until Thursday Night. Have to love Douggie on the Turf.

  6. If you are in the middle of a QB crisis like this one. You have nobody else to drop, not even Boykin. Go ahead and lose Gordon. If you can stash him, I would keep him. Week 12 debut against the Falcons is one to mark your calendars for.

  7. Munt is pure Beast. The story above is mine. And I am for certain to stick with Munt. Fantasy Football is two parts. Its getting great value you in your draft. Which Munt is the king of. And the second part is getting that claim in a week before your opponent, or a trade that pays dividends later. We have all seen teams that draft well and don’t make the playoffs. It’s the in season moves that separate the winners. Munt’s draft plan and in season help has me once again in the championship game in my fantasy baseball league. And 1-0 going into tonight’s game in two fantasy football leagues. The early season records don’t phase me much following the 0-6 start of previous year. I know that when we get to the hard calls later in the year. And the big claims/trades my secret weapon is a text away. BEAST!

  8. So all these injuries are getting me a little gun shy–lost RG3 and Ingram this weekend while having to sit Doug Martin.

I’m going into handcuff mode with Doug and Arian. Plan to pick up Rainey, but not sure who the #2 is in HOU…. Thoughts?

  9. Munt: I need some clarification please. My WR3 is so weak: Keep Boykin or Drop Boykin for DavanteAdams / M.Wheaton / Sanu / Miles Austin / A. Hawkins / H. Nicks / J. Hunter / R. Cooper

  10. Could you do a ROS? So much has changed and a lot of us are 0-2 and need to now recalibrate.

    BEAST BEAST,
    THANKS.

  11. That’s what everyone drafted… but HOU has Blue listed at 2 on the depth chart. They also just picked up the worst handcuff in the history of handcuffs Ronnie Brown. If Arian goes down and Ronnie freakin Brown starts seeing the field I’ll know this season is Jinxed x1000

  12. Just read on Twitter that Houston coach plans to start splitting time to reduce Fosters workload and recommend trading him high now-any thoughts?

  13. Munt, are you still all in on Carlos Hyde? Someone dropped him on Saturday how much of my FAAB of $100 should I bid. My other RB’s are Foster/Lynch/Vereen and P Thomas

  14. Foster will still get 20+ Touches total a game. Keep rolling with barbARIAN. Texans will just start passing the ball more.

No RB on Texans can run like Arian. Not even close.

  15. I can’t afford to keep boykin, I need to pick up a qb. I lost rg3 and big ben is my back up, so I plan on dropping Boykin and getting flacco since I own steve smith sr. And Dennis pitta. ..for that wb/wr/TE combo….and still be able to stash rg3 for the playoff push….it’s not where we start the race, it’s where we finish gentZ….Beast on! Peace

  16. Munt here to save the day. Great call on the strategy. Gonna pick up one of these back up QBs for Boykin and pick up either a QB/K for Matty Ice or Plan B East.

  17. Sproles and Ingram (injured) are hot right now, do I roll with them or try to trade one for Carlos Hyde or Doug Martin? My other backs are Peterson, Foster, and Greene.

Also, is Torrey Smith worth a grab if he is available? Or do I stay with SSSr?

    Thanks.

  18. Quick update: A friend just looked at my roster and said mockingly, “Look at your team. Your players aren’t owned in most the leagues. You only have three players that most other people have.” I then showed him that my team had the highest point total of the week. Thanks, Munt!

  19. If we went with the BEAST Draft strategy and took a Brady/Cutler/Ryan as back up (in my case Cutler) to pair with RG3 for just this scenario, would you recommend dropping a Boykin type for a 3rd QB like McKown or Flacco or Fitz or Cousins? or Keep Boykin?

  20. Thank you munt u just reaffirmed my plan on mattty ice and Matt Bryant. And not rolling with a back up qb. Right now I have forte, ball, ellington, j. Bell , aj green, V jax, cord Patterson, justin hunter, Kendall wright, Wheaton, josh Gordon,d pitta, hou dst. Any ideas on RB/ wr?

  21. I have Kaep as my backup. Do I drop him for Flacco/Fitz/Cousins/McCown? He looked awful against the Beers.

  22. You been super high on RG3 as a difference maker…I sure hope you were advocating drafting a second qb (foles/russel/cutler) along with it

  23. Arian Foster went ahead of me in the draft. Your advise was ro go with Brees in that case, which I followed. After that I used your RB rankings- to get this stable -Monte Ball, Bush,S-JAX, Greene, Hyde. Besides Montee in first 2 games beeing mediocre at best, rest of my guys get around 5 pts a game. Who do you think is stoppable out of that bunch in order to pick one of those of waiver: Ridley, Kniles Davis, Khiry Robinson or Donald Brown? Which one should I target?

  24. Just got an offer to trade Matt Ryan and Brian Quick for Aaron Rodgers and Riley Cooper. Its a 3 WR league. This trade would certainly give me an elite QB in Rodgers but then weaken my WR. Please advise.

    QB Matt Ryan
    RB Foster
    RB Montee
    WR Andre
    WR DeSean
    WR Mike Evans
    TE Cameroun
    Flex Steven Jackson/Hyde
    DST – Patriots
RB (Bench) – Steven Jackson, Carlos Hyde and James Starks
WR (Bench) – Quick, Jarret Boykin
    TE (Bench) – Travis Kelce

  25. Actually, I already accepted the trade. So, my QB is Aaron Rodgers and I will have to look for WR to strengthen my WR roster. Really hoping that DeSean will pick up some bombs from Cousins.

  26. Munt is saving the season! Someone just panicked and dropped S.Jax, for now i have the #2 spot to claim him and am dropping Kai for him. I’m about to add a QB and a Kicker to my team, but it looks like I need to drop TWO of the following players now that I’m looking to add this beast. Who should I drop?

    QB: RG3

RB: Foster, Ball, D.Martin, S.Jax(once waiver goes through), T.Quizz, B.Tate

    WR: Cobb,D.Jax, Colston, Triple S.

    TE: Reed, Gates

    Def: Denver

    Who should I drop?

  27. Make the trade! Aaron Rodgers is a Beast! He has the weapons. Boykin>Quick so you are not weakening your WR4. Make it happen

  28. I’d look to trade tate and colston to the west owner and upgrade at WR that takes care of one roster spot. Tough choice after that. Only option I see is RG3.

  29. Question about kicker situation. I Have Cutler at QB. Also have Arian and Andre Johnson, as well as Alshon Jeffery to pair with Cutler. Do you recommend QB/K or grabbing Bullock?

  30. I’d like to know Munts thoughts on Davante Adams…Who was briefly mentioned above.

Adams was an absolute monster in college catching 131 balls for over 1700 yards and 24 TD’s last year. If he had scored that TD last week, I bet more people would be talking about him.

He seems pretty similar to Jordan Matthews to me…Both of those guys have immense talent in good offensive systems.

  31. Geno Smith will outscore all of these QBs easily. Don’t touch any of those QBs….pick up Geno.

  32. Hey Munt, been following you for quite a while, screw the other experts, you are by far the best and only expert I trust.
Yahoo 12 team PPR league currently 1-1, Passing Tds=6 INT= -3 can only pick up 2 players per week, no trades allowed, slightly weird setup but here goes

    QB- Jake Locker
    RB- Demarco Murray
    WR- Dez Bryant
    WR- Randall Cobb
    RB/WR/TE- Arian Foster
    TE- Zach Ertz
    DEF- New Orleans
    K- Kai Forbath

    Bench
    Robert Griffin III
    Josh Gordon
    Shane Vereen
    Brandin Cooks
    Sammy Watkins
    Danny Woodhead

    Waivers:
QB Andy Dalton, Kirk Cousins, Josh McCown, Ryan Tannehil, Geno Smith, Ryan Fitz
RB Doug Martin, Khiry Robinson, Bobby Rainey, Ryan Mathews
    K Matt Bryant, Randy Bullock
Can’t pickup Dalton or Martin until Saturday due to waivers

Who should I drop to try and salvage my QB situation? And there would be no guarantee on Dalton or Martin til Saturday and can only pick up 2 this week.
