Fantasy Football: WEEK 6 BUSTS

*Sit these guys if you have better options.  Players selected were based on highest differential ECR (Expert Consensus Ranking).

ROBERT GRIFFIN III – QB – WAS

Muntradamus QB Rank: #13

Expert QB Rank: #6

No surprise with RGIII making this list again.  With no ELITE passing options, and likely a game where he will think twice about making those risky runs after his concussion  last week.  I do not see how he can break 15 Points against one of the best defenses in the NFC.  Either Pierre Garcon will have to come out of nowhere to remind us of his preseason potential, or you are looking at a FG show.

PHILLIP RIVERS – QB – SD

Muntradamus QB Rank: #16

Expert QB Rank: #9

He made the list again.  Everyone who played him last week was spoiled.  Any QB can throw for 2 TDs against the Saints, in fact it really was not that special of a game. Both of his great performances this season has come against the Titans and the Saints.  Nothing to brag home about, and now he faces a Broncos secondary that limited Matt Ryan earlier in the season.

LESEAN MCCOY – RB – PHI

Muntradamus RB Rank: #13

Expert RB Rank: #3

Love Shady McCoy.  He can easily end up with 100 Total Yards, and he can score on every play.  Against this Detroit Lions front four, you can expect the Michael Vick show to air this Sunday.  Shady is a great player, but this is a week where you have to limit your expectations and hope he gets the red zone touches.

MARSHAWN LYNCH – RB – SEA

Muntradamus RB Rank: #15

Expert RB Rank: #8

Running the ball against New England when down 21-0 will not help anyone.  New England has a healthy Vincent Wolfork just dominating the line of scrimmage, which is making it tough for any RB to rush for 100 Yards against this team.  Although the Seahawks need Lynch to win this game for them, you can expect the Patriots to make sure he does not.

ALFRED MORRIS – RB – WAS

Muntradamus RB Rank: #19

Expert RB Rank: #13

If you think the Lions have a good Run D, or even the 49ers.  Here is another team that is right up there with them in Minnesota.  Alfred Morris has been nothing short of amazing this season, and although I see Terrell Davis type potential.  This is a week he losses more value than he has.  The Vikings Run D can make any RB look like a bench player, and I would likely do just that if I have the depth to replace him.

PIERRE GARCON – WR – WAS

Muntradamus WR Rank: #44

Expert WR Rank: #31

Hats off to Pierre Garcon for being tough and playing through a foot injury that should probably still have him on the sidelines.  Regardless he should be on your Fantasy Football sidelines until the former #1 Target for RGIII gets back to full strength.  Whether it is Cook or Winfield who matches up on Garcon, he does not seem ready to take the next step as of now to being a consistent #1 WR.

JORDY NELSON – WR – PIT

Muntradamus WR Rank: #24

Expert WR Rank: #17

Although this is supposed to be Jordy’s time to shine with Greg Jennings out.  It has been just the opposite.

What Jordy is proving to us is either Aaron Rodgers and him do not have the chemistry they had last season.  Or Jordy is not good enough to be a #1 WR in this offense.  Last week he was playing a Colts Secondary that was without their star CB Vontae Davis, this week he faces one of the best CB’s in the NFL and Jonathan Joesph.  Expect Rodgers to look other ways.

VINCENT JACKSON – WR – CAR

Muntradamus WR Rank: #30

Expert WR Rank: #16

V-Jax goes up against Brandon Flowers who in my opinion is the most undervalued CB in the NFL.  This guy has Darrell Revis shut down abilities and has limited some solid players as he regains his strength to 100%.  This is clearly a matchup where Vincent Jackson will either be a complete BOOM or a complete BUST.  The favorite for this matchup is the BUST unless he makes something out of nothing.

MALCOLM FLOYD – WR – SD

Muntradamus WR Rank: #39

Expert WR Rank: #22

Champ Bailey shut down Vincent Jackson nearly every game when these two teams met up.  Now Malcolm Floyd has to take Vincent Jackson’s role against Champ, and that is not a matchup anyone should be excited about.  Look the other way and play a safer option.  The TD would have been nice last week, and now you are sure to see a small value decrease with Floyd this week.

MARTELLUS BENNETT – TE – CAR

Muntradamus TE Rank: #17

Expert TE Rank: #14

You can expect a downgrade of Martellus Bennett in the rankings tonight.  The Giants are going to need to block and give Eli Manning all the time he can handle so play makers like Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks can win this game for the NYG.  Last week after Tellus hurt his knee, he came in to be strict blocker for the most part.  Expect something similar, as his knee is still not 100%.

BLAIR WALSH – K – MIN

Muntradamus K Rank: #14

Expert K Rank: #6

I owned Christian Ponder all season, until I dropped him this week to grab Shaun Hill so I have my Lions QB combo the rest of the season.  Ponder is extremely inconsistent when he is away from his cozy dome.  Although the matchup looks great, this could be a game where the Vikings do not move the ball like you would hope.  I would go with kicker in the more explosive offense.

JUSTIN TUCKER – K – BAL

Muntradamus K Rank: #20

Expert K Rank: #5

Dallas Defense should be ready to make an impact on this Ravens offense that looked non-existent last week against the Chiefs.  Chances are the Ravens are going to have score TDs to keep pace with the Cowboys.  Although Tucker could be solid for a FG or two, there are safer options who will be busy.

GIANTS – D/ST – NYG

Muntradamus D/ST Rank: #24

Expert D/ST Rank: #15

Giants Secondary is beat up.  Their D-Line is not as fierce as it was last season.  Add those two factors together and you have a defense that is very beatable this Sunday in SF. The 49ers have been running a perfect offense all year long, expect them to continue that pace and breeze right through this Giants D.

TEXANS – D/ST – CIN

Muntradamus D/ST Rank: #12

Expert D/ST Rank: #5

Brian Cushing was a huge part of that defense.  For him to be out for the season opens up the chances for the Packers to have a much easier time Sunday night than they originally expected.  The Texans will still play like a top 5 unit at times this season, but I would look elsewhere for defensive help this week.

  1. Is this the game that J.Rodgers should finally break out? I mean I have played him in flex and he is killing me!

  2. I’m thinking of starting L.Blount as flex over J.Rodgers….is that a mistake? I just need a one TD. What are the odds that Blount would score one? He should be their red-zone back. Can’t trust Rodgers, but how do you see that Oakland vs. Atlanta game going? How much will Rodgers get touches? If they take a huge lead…it might be Snelling who is carrying the ball. :(

  3. That’s a bad spot to be in. Personally I’d go for Blount because Rodgers blanked me last week (or was it 1 point?).
You’re right though, Oak vs Atl will be a blow-out. If they start giving Snelling the ball it means Rodgers might as well be off your roster, and mine.
Purely Michael Turner insurance for me right now.

  4. Traded K.Wright for A.Roberts….now starting him in flex over Blount and J.Rodgers. Should be far better option….right?

  5. Interesting call on Jordy Neslon. I see the logic but it just goes to show that fantasy football is like gambling. You never really know what can happen even with all the research and knowledge in the world

  6. Agreed.

Jonathan Joesph may be overvalued this season as this is his second week in a row really struggling.

Can’t win them all, at least my BEASTS looked good.
