Make Your Luck (Week 5)

BEAST DOME NATION.

For all of you new to the site.  This is essentially the “Start’EM” article of the week.  The Sit’EM aka Busts comes out later.  The players I choose in this article are the players where I go against the tide.  These are the players I think Experts on other sites have ranked too low, and they are going to outperform their ranking with ease.  You can check out my Rankings within the Experts, as well as my Week 5 Rankings by clicking the link below.

WEEK 5 RANKINGS

WEEK 5 BEASTS

ELI MANNING – QB – NYG

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #1
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #6

Even with Ramses Barden and Hakeem Nicks out.  Eli is still a threat to take over this game against a weak Browns secondary that has more holes than they can count.  Without Joe Haden, nobody can guard Victor Cruz.  Even a double team of Victor Cruz will have problems guarding him.  If they send too much attention, Martellus Bennett and Dominek Hixon will have monster games.  Eli can pick and choose how he wants to get 4 TDs through the air.

ANDREW LUCK – QB – IND

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #10
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #14

After the Bye Week, the Colts should come out like a Brand New sharpen tool that is ready to cut through any defense.  This week he gets a decent matchup against a Packers Secondary that can be beat by the right QB.  Game should be a shootout anyways.  Luck is that QB as he looked great before the Bye Week throwing for over 300 Yards consistently.  Need more convincing to start Luck?

RYAN TANNEHILL – QB – MIA

MUNTRADAMUS QB RANK: #18
EXPERT QB CONSENSUS RANK: #22

He’s back.  This time I am not talking about his wife, or the fact he will give you negative points.  Ryan is primed for a huge game against a Bengal secondary that is less than 100%.  He has found the rhythm with his WRs which lead to over 400 Yards against a good Cardinals Defense.  There’s a secret out there.  The same secret that led to Matt Flynn having that historic Week 17 game last season (480 Yards/6 TDs).  The offensive coordinator for that team Mike Sherman, is now the offensive coordinator for the Dolphins.  *Tick-Tock*

CEDRIC BENSON – RB – GB

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #4
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #14

Once again Cedric makes the list.  Last week he should have had a goal line TD to go along with his 100 Total Yards.  You can blame Graham Harrell on that one as you probably have heard for the 100th time on this site.  Benson now faces a weak Colts Run D that will easily get rolled over by this Packer offense.  Expect Cedric to find his way into the end zone more than once.

WILLIS MCGAHEE – RB – DEN

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #7
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #17

Every single week I have to put him on this list.  I don’t know what other experts don’t see about him.  He has been effective in every game this season, besides the one he got hurt.  Now they are playing against a Patriot team that will have no idea how to contain Peyton.  He is also the #7 overall RB this season in standard scoring leagues.  Start him if you have him.  Nobody is running better, nobody can stop him.

DARREN SPROLES – RB – NO

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #11
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #18

Sproles is overdue for the Multi-TD game.  The Saints offense is going to put up points at Home, and Darren Sproles is playing against his former team.  Expect the former Charger 3rd down back to easily get over 100 Total Yards.  The TDs should come with it.  No Lance Moore could mean he plays that possession WR role in the offense.

BILAL POWELL – RB – NYJ

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #31
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #41

Very exciting time for Bilal owners.  The Jets are going to look like a High-School Football team on Monday Night, which means they will probably go to Tebow late in the game.  When the game is well out of hand.  When that happens, Bilal is on the field as he is their 3rd down passing back/late in the game RB.  If Tebow creates magic, while Bilal is on the field.  Then ladies and gentleman of the Jury.

JACQUIZZ RODGERS – RB – ATL

MUNTRADAMUS RB RANK: #27
EXPERT RB CONSENSUS RANK: #37

Is he really putting him on this list again?  Is the first thing you think about after his not so great performance against a Panther team where Michael Turner ended up with the 60 Yard Receiving TD on a shuffle pass.  Here’s the thing, the playing time between the two was about split.  The Panthers do not have a good run Defense, and Michael Turner looked like his vintage self running against them.  Now the Falcons play Washington who are #7 in Fantasy against RBs.  Turner will not have it as easy as he did last week, which means JacQuizz will still get plenty of PT.  He is much better in PPR leagues than standard leagues, but worth a deep play if you need to fill the Bye Week.

ANDRE JOHNSON – WR – HOU

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #1
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #6

We all saw what Brandon Marshall did on Monday Night last week against the Cowboys.  This is a very similar situation of a STAR WR who needs to break out for a big game on a Prime Time stage.  The Jets will be turning the ball over all game, which should set up a lot of TDs for the Texans.  Expect Andre to not only get in the party, but to be the LiFE OF THE PARTY.

MARQUES COLSTON – WR – NO

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #7
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #17

Colston finally had the game his fantasy owners were waiting for.  Lance Moore has been ruled out for Sunday Night which means targets on targets on targets will come for Ques.  He could have had more last week had he not dropped easy 15 yard passes, and not fully extend his body diving for a TD.  Regardless, he is healthy, and this is a great matchup.  Get him in your lineup.

MALCOLM FLOYD – WR – SD

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #9
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #22

If you don’t think Phillip Rivers is going to throw for 2 TDs at least in this game, you are taking crazy pills.  The Chargers are going to need to put up TD after TD after TD to keep up with the Saints.  Even if he throws for 2 TDs, there is a good chance Malcolm Floyd is on the receiving end of one of them.  If not, he will easily have over 100 Yards as nobody in this secondary can guard him.

BRIAN HARTLINE – WR – MIA

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #15
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #24

Leon Hall and Nate Clements are playing at less than 100% this week.  With Brian Hartline torching Patrick Peterson last week, no reason to think he cannot torch these guys with his eyes closed.  Hartline is a great-start this week and is now the new Danny Amendola 2.0 with Danny expected to miss 6-7 Weeks.  Great matchup, How could you be so Hartless.

ANQUAN BOLDIN – WR – BAL

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #18
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #29

Boldin is the true #1 WR on this Ravens team.  If Joe Flacco needs to convert a 3rd down, he will go to Boldin.  He showed that last Thursday Night and he showed it on MNF in Week 1.  Anquan will be busy making plays as the Chiefs will not know who to guard in this no-huddle offense.  100 Yards should be in the book, the TD will be an early Christmas present.

DEVERY HENDERSON – WR – NO

MUNTRADAMUS WR RANK: #28
EXPERT WR CONSENSUS RANK: #58

Devery finally gets his opportunity.  With Lance Moore missing this Sunday Night game, the man who was known for only running Streak Routes is now going to be playing nearly every snap.  He will be doing more than streak routes and should be heavily involved as the Chargers will have enough trouble shutting down Jimmy Graham and Marques Colston.  Add Lance Moore this week if you need a WR.

JERMAINE GRESHAM – TE – CIN

MUNTRADAMUS TE RANK: #13
EXPERT TE CONSENSUS RANK: #17

Gresham is becoming more and more involved in the passing game after the Bengals said that would not be the case to start the season.  This week he faces a good Run Defense that play with over re-acting run LB’s which means Gresham can easily slip into that second level untouched.  Expect him to be targeted in the red zone and potentially come down with that big TD.

JORDAN CAMERON – TE – CLE

MUNTRADAMUS TE RANK: #17
EXPERT TE CONSENSUS RANK: #25

This guy can jump out of the gym.  He’s huge as well as no corner back can guard him based on his sheer size of 6’6 and all power.  The Browns have a lot of injured options at the WR position right now, which means the Browns could force the ball to Jordan Cameron in one-on-one situations.  Expect the big man to win those battles and give you plenty of Fantasy Points.

MATT PRATER – K – DEN

MUNTRADAMUS K RANK: #1
EXPERT K CONSENSUS RANK: #12

Peyton will have success against the Patriots Defense.  Scoring the TDs is mandatory, but this could be one of those epic Denver/Patriot games that come down to defense.   But then again, it is Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning.  Two FGs with all the Extra Points will be an automatic double digits.

LAWRENCE TYNES – K – NYG

MUNTRADAMUS K RANK: #2
EXPERT K CONSENSUS RANK: #10

Eli is going to have his Giants in the Red Zone often.  Similar to their Prime Time game on Thursday Night against the Panthers.  Will every possession in the Red Zone result in a TD?  Probably not, which means you should see at least 2 FGs if not 4 by Tynes this weekend.

PANTHERS – D/ST – CAR

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #9
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #18

Russell Wilson is a D/ST dream when setting your Fantasy Football lineup.  The Seahawks will be able to run the ball against this surprisingly disappointing LB core.  Expect Marshawn to get his number, but as soon as Wilson has to make a play.  That is when you can start licking your lips and expect those points to roll through.

RAMS – D/ST – STL

MUNTRADAMUS D/ST RANK: #7
EXPERT D/ST CONSENSUS RANK: #14

I know this game already happened, but I still got it right.  The Rams playing in their home building on a prime time game.  That might as well been their Super Bowl right there and they showed it.  This is a matchup play defense, not one that will remain in the top 10 long-term.

  1. Liking to add Jacobs.my running backs are battle,Charles, martin,Bell(Joique),and s-jax.my receivers are a.Brown,t.smith,Bess,Avery,and m.Williams.maybe looking to add Henderson.just some thoughts on it.I’m 2-2 in my league my defense is stacked( top ten, some positions top 5)just looking for better offensive production not just this weak, but rest of season.my qb’s arenewton and Kolb.te’s graham,Bennett, and Olsen.d/st are cards and vikes.any help would be appreciated.by the way like the site.you are Damn good with your predictions and insight.

  2. Also from earlier,(this is Sean again).I had Andre Brown and I dropped him for Bell.do you think this was a good move?this is my 2nd year playing FF,first year was free league, came in first and won championship.this year is a paid league and want a good outcome.saw your name and percentages on fantasy pros.com and have been following you since week two.anyways, thanks for all that you do.

  3. Hey Munt,

Have flex options and I was wondering who you would start. I have CJ at the moment.

    Chris Johnson/Maclin /Jacquizz Rodgers

    Thank you

  4. Bell has better potential right now being that Bradshaw has seemingly reclaimed his starting role. With Leshoure struggling, Bell could be in line for an improved role next week. Good move

  5. The decision should be between just Maclin and Johnson. While I know Munt loves Quizz (with good reason), his current role doesn’t merit him starting over those two starters. They both have a tough matchup, but I’d lean towards CJ given the potential he showed last week.

  6. I’m sure Hartline is gone from last weeks performance. I would say grab quick and sit him afew weeks

  7. I would recommened the quizz kid since cj has a tough assignment this week and Maclin playing the Steelers, It’s hard ti know for sure. I think you can expect at least 10 pts in standard leagues and 15 in ppr, at the min.

  8. Yeah I’d assume Hartline is gone. Quick or Brandon Gibson could both be decent options, but the St. Louis passing game looked pretty dreadful when Amendola went down. Maybe look for a guy like Donnie Avery on your waiver wire, maybe even Stephen Hill now that Santonio Holmes is out.

  9. Devone Bess. What WR puts up 30 points back to back weeks? Bess has just as good of a chance for some decent numbers and he was pretty much neck and neck with Hartline before he blew up…
