FANTASY FOOTBALL: ALEX SMITH FOR WEEK 9 QB?

FANTASY FOOTBALL:

ALEX SMITH FOR WEEK 9 QB?

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

Many teams are on the crucial Week 9 Bye.  From Peyton Manning to Chad Henne, the options are slim this week.  Many Fantasy Websites are pointing in the direction of Alex Smith as he is the leader of the non-popular starting QBs on FantasyPros.

“QBs I Love”

Alex Smith, Chiefs: Colin Kaepernick. Tom Brady. Robert Griffin III. Sorry, just listing some of the quarterbacks who average fewer fantasy points per game than Alex Smith so far this season. He doesn’t turn over the ball, he’s playing the Bills; with six teams on a bye, that should be enough for you to start.

YOU’RE FORGETTING ONE THING

Matchup is not everything in Fantasy Football.  Talent is a major contributor to what makes a player a safe start.  Will Alex Smith throw for 300 Yards against the Bills?

Absolutely not.

Is Alex Smith even a lock for 2 TDs this week?

Absolutely not.

Does Alex Smith have the arm to get his weapons anything outside of 12 yard slant passes?

Absolutely not.

The only way Alex Smith scores his fantasy points, is vulturing TDs from Jamaal Charles who does all the work to get down the field.  Alex Smith is mobile, which does give him an edge, but the chances of Alex Smith throwing for 240 Yards/2 TD and 40 Yards rushing, I would say no thank you.  Those are near Cam Newton numbers, and Alex is more like a 178 Yard QB who will be handing the ball off time after time.

CONCLUSION

Go with either Jake Locker or Nick Foles this week.  They are better QBs and have better weapons to throw to.   One thing to keep in mind.  Alex Smith currently ranks as my #22 QB this week.

QB/K COMBO

No matter the QB you start this week in what will be an odd scoring week with so many stars on byes.  If you have a QB that is capable of putting up numbers, even Alex Smith.  Go with the QB/K Combo to ensure all Redzone Points are yours.

  1. Starting Foles this weekend, Henery is available, but currently have Crosby as kicker. Should I still get him just for the weekend?

  2. How’s your matchup with the bye’s? Have the advantage or the one playing catch up? If you have the advantage I’d stick with Crosby. Playing from behind and have someone to waive. Grab Henry.

  3. Whats up beastnation. Is it to risky to trade away Jordan Reed if I got Jimmy Graham? I am a little worried about his reps, might be a guessing game every week on how many snaps hes going to play. Last week playing 18 snaps and 2 touchdowns will not happen like that every week..in my opinion. Thoughts?

  4. I agree, it won’t happen every week, probably not even most weeks. If I am you I would try and trade Graham instead of Reed. While as a Graham owner I hope it isn’t the case, this could very well be the last chance you can get a decent RB or WR for him. I would try and trade him if I wasn’t relying on Heath Miller otherwise, I think with Reed it’s a no-brainer. You have a solid TE in Reed and can still likely get something great for Graham.

  5. Lol. Yeh, i had about 4 trades out involving Graham…when he scored that first TD and dragged that guy in the endzone..i canceled all of those trades. I think i will still hold onto Jordan Reed just incase he gets worst or another injury…only if its a offer i cant refuse.

  6. thats what happens when a few people ruin it for everyone else. He said that two weeks ago that beastdome is no longer giving away free advice because of all the hate he was getting.

  7. I see the fantasypros graphic up there. What’s Munt’s ranking now? It must be getting better…

  8. The hate is because he’s jacked up his fees by 300% and he’s delivering bottom 10 rankings on fantasypros.

Don’t worry, I’m taking my bookmark off this site, I won’t be around much more (as I’m sure most won’t be since there’s nothing here to bring in new customers). I wish I stopped coming here much earlier, before I followed his advice and traded Reggie Bush. I’m still playoff bound, but that’s not because of Munt, lol.
