———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Monday (1/30/12)

Chicago Bulls 98 @ Washington Wizards 88

Chicago:

  • Derrick Rose (35 Points, 8 Assists, 3 Blocks, 2 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Joakim Noah (14 Points, 13 Rebounds, 7 Assists)
  • Carlos Boozer (18 Points, 8 Rebounds)
  • Kyle Korver (44 Minutes, 5 3PTM, 17 Points, 5 Rebounds)
  • Ronnie Brewer (6 Points, 6 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 38 Minutes)
  • Luol Deng (DNP-Wrist)
  • Rip Hamilton (DNP-Thigh)

No Rip Hamilton, or Luol Deng led to a breakout game for Kyle Korver.  If you need 3PTM, Korver is one of the best 3PT shooters in the NBA and without Rip or Deng the minutes will be there.  Joakim Noah is red hot and has double-doubled in 5 straight games.   Ronnie Brewer needed to have a bigger game, while Derrick Rose showed off why he was the 1st PG drafted in most fantasy basketball leagues.  Carlos Boozer is continuing to show off his new consistency.

Washington:

  • John Wall (20 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals)
  • Nick Young (17 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks, 2 3PTM, 30 Minutes)
  • Jordan Crawford (10 Points, 32 Minutes, 5/16 Shooting)
  • Javale McGee (16 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 2 Steals)
  • Rashard Lewis (1 3PTM, 8 Rebounds, 5 Points)
  • Trevor Brooker (14 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 2 Blocks, 26 Minutes)
  • Andray Blatche (Out 3-5 Weeks)

John Wall continues to be solid, he has been putting up consistent numbers in all close Wizard games.  Nick Young continues to build off of his specialties (3PTM, Steals, Points) the blocks were a nice bonus.  Jordan Crawford has so much fantasy potential, and the fact he is getting 30+ Minutes off the bench means his fantasy value is for real.  Javale McGee is starting to string together some nice fantasy games and could be on the breakout streak he needed.  Rashard Lewis is pretty much worthless these days.  Trevor Brooker is a guy to keep an eye on as the week progresses in the wake of Andray Blatche out 3-5 weeks.

Orlando Magic 69 @ Philidelphia 76er 74

Orlando:

  • Dwight Howard (17 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 2 Blocks, 5/13 FT)
  • Ryan Anderson (14 Points, 20 Rebounds)
  • Hedo Turkoglu (3 Points, 1/9 Shooting, 26 Minutes)
  • Chris Duhon (35 Minutes, 3 Points, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 3 Assists)
  • J.J. Reddick (31 Minutes, 10 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3/13 Shooting, 3 3PTM)
  • Jason Richardson (DNP)
  • Jameer Nelson (DNP)

Dwight Howard continues to play like a fantasy beast on a team he does not want to be on.  It will be intresting to see where he gets traded at the deadline, his value will still be #1 for all fantasy centers.  Ryan Anderson had a nice breakout performance, hopefully he can start showing some consistency.  Chris Duhon blew his opportunity to show he still has some skills with Jameer Nelson out.   Hedo Turkolgu was just garbage, he has been far too inconsistent to trust in fantasy basketball this season.  For now Duhon is just keep Nelson’s job warm for when he comes back.  J.J. Reddick continues to disappoint when the opportunities are there.  Jason Richardson should not be out for long.

Philadelphia:

  • Andre Iguodala (14 Points, 11 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 11 Shot Attempts)
  • Elton Brand (8 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 4 Blocks, 30 Minutes)
  • Jrue Holiday (6 Points, 6 Assists, 3/11 Shooting)
  • Louis Williams (9 Points, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM, 5/13 Shooting, 29 Minutes)
  • Evan Turner (12 Points, 4 Rebounds, 4/7 Shooting, 23 Minutes)
  • Jodie Meeks (7 Points, 24 Minutes)
  • Thaddeus Young (31 Minutes, 10 Points, 2 Steals)
  • Spender Hawes (DNP)

Andre Iguodala continues to do what he does best, which is get near low-end 3×2 numbers.  The shot attempts have been discouraging all season.  Elton Brand is playing some last minute inspired basketball before Spencer Hawes returns, which could be this week.  The PG situation is ugly for the 76ers and no player is a safe fantasy start.  If I had to pick one Jrue Holiday would be the most consistent.  Thaddeus Young is just waiting patiently for his opportunity to have consistent 30+ Minute games.

New Orleans Hornets 95 @ Miami Heat 104

New Orleans:

  • Jarrett Jack (14 Points, 1 Assist, 2 Steals)
  • Emeka Okafor (13 Points, 2 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Trevor Ariza (9 Points, 8 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM)
  • Carl Landry (14 Points, 2 Rebounds, 24 Minutes)
  • Jason Smith (5 Points, 1 Rebounds, 19 Minutes)
  • Eric Gordon (Out 2-5 Weeks)

A bad fantasy performance by every single Hornets player tonight.  It all starts with Jarrett Jack who only got 1 Assist.  Emeka Okafor who is usually very consistent had a bad game.  Trevor Ariza put up okay numbers, but still nothing to brag about.  Carl Landry continues to be their best offensive threat but is being “lineup blocked” by Jason Smith.

Miami:

  • Dwayne Wade (22 Points, 5 Assists, 2 Steals, 24 Minutes)
  • Lebron James (22 Points, 11 Rebounds, 8 Assists, 1 3PTM, 30 Minutes)
  • Chris Bosh (12 Points, 3 Rebounds, 33 Minutes)
  •  Mario Chalmers (11 Points, 3 Assists, 24 Minutes)
  • Norris Cole (12 Points, 4 Assists, 24 Minutes)

Chris Bosh losing fantasy value when Dwayne Wade returns?  A lot of people decided not to sell high, and now it is too late as everyone is aware of this decline.  Always read all MA articles if you want to be ahead of the curve.  Lebron James continues to play like the #1 overall pick, while Dwayne Wade is putting up solid numbers since returning.  Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole are in a deadlock for making eachother worthless in fantasy basketball.

Minnesota Timberwolves 120 @ Houston Rockets 108

Minnesota:

  • Michael Beasley (34 Points, 14 Shot Attempts, 12/12 FT, 33 Minutes)
  • Kevin Love (29 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 2 3PTM)
  • Ricky Rubio (18 Points, 11 Assists, 8 Rebounds)
  • Luke Ridnour (35 Minutes, 11 Points, 5 Assists)
  • Nikola Pekovic (19 Minutes, 8 Points, 7 Rebounds)

Michael Beasley has been an offensive machine since returning.  First game he did not shoot the ball at least once every two minutes since returning from his injury.  But he scored more points that shot attempts, and minutes.  Beasley should not be on any waiver wire.  Kevin Love missed out on a double-double but the 29 Points was nice enough.  Ricky Rubio gave another almost 3×2 performance.  He did that twice last week, the 18 Points was a nice surprise.  Nikola Pekovic is a serious threat to be a good fantasy center if he can consistently get 30+ Minutes a game.  The next Marcin Gortat perhaps.  Luke Ridnour is still showing some fantasy worth running 35 Minutes Monday night.

Houston:

  • Kevin Marin (29 Points, 3 Steals, 4 3PTM, 34 Minutes)
  • Kyle Lowry (11 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 2 Steals, 26 Minutes)
  • Luis Scola (8 Points, 3 Rebounds, 20 Minutes)
  • Samuel Dalembert (28 Minutes, 8 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 6 Points)
  • Chandler Parsons (33 Minutes, 9 Points, 4/10 Shooting)
  • Chase Budinger (20 Minutes, 13 Points, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists)

Kevin Martin returned with a big game.  Good news for fantasy owners who can all take a deep breath together.  Kyle Lowry owners are now officially worried.  He has been terrible lately, the good news is he shot 50% from the field.  If you can get a high-end guard you can make the trade, but remember this guy was a consistent Jason Kidd 2.0 a week ago.  Luis Scola continues his disappointing season, his rebounding has been dreadful all season.  Samuel Dalembert has been a great fantasy center for teams that need blocks and rebounds.  Chase Budinger and Chandler Parsons are in a full on battle for minutes, Chase has the upper hand in fantasy while I am sure they cannot be too friendly with each other.  Both similar players one went to University of Flordia, the other University of Arizona, now here they are battling each other in the NBA.  Interesting battle.

San Antonio Spurs 83 @ Memphis Grizzles 74

San Antonio:

  • Tony Parker (5 Points, 5 Rebounds, 12 Assists, 2 Steals, 40 Minutes)
  • Kawhi Leonard (31 Minutes, 12 Points, 10 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Richard Jefferson (37 Minutes, 13 Points, 6 Rebounds, 3 3PTM)
  • Tim Duncan (14 Points, 6 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 32 Minutes)
  • Tiaggo Splitter (15 Minutes, 7 Rebounds, 4 Points)
  • Dejuan Blair (14 Minutes, 9 Points, 2 Rebounds)

Tony Parker continues to put up the best fantasy value he will put up all season with no Manu GinobiliKawhi Leonard put up a nice fantasy game, and so did his future competition for playing time Richard JeffersonTim Duncan gave a valiant effort with 30+ Minutes, while Tiaggo Splitter and Dejuan Blair combined for a mediocre fantasy basketball performance from a center.

Memphis:

  • Rudy Gay (35 Minutes, 1 Point, 6 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 0/7 Shooting)
  • Marc Gasol (35 Minutes, 7 Points, 12 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Mike Conley (37 Minutes, 15 Points, 3 Assists, 2 3PTM, 2 Steals)
  • OJ Mayo (17 Points, 7/11 Shooting, 25 Minutes)
  • Tony Allen (20 Minutes, 9 Points, 4 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Marreese Speights (10 Points, 4 Rebounds)
  • Zach Randolph (DNP)

OJ Mayo finally had the offensive game he has been searching for.  As good as it was, Tony Allen had an impressive game defensively with 4 steals, so that battle will continue.  Marc Gasol had a bad game as San Antonio’s defense is tough.  Mike Conley managed to up some decent scoring and steal numbers.  Marreese Speights is keeping Zach Randolph’s spot warm.  Rudy Gay owners, this is all a dream, only a figment of your imagination.  Next game you will forget this happened.  Okay maybe next month.

Detroit Pistons 82 @ Milwaukee Bucks 103

Detroit:

  • Rodney Stuckey (19 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 7/7 FT, 26 Minutes)
  • Brandon Knight (0 Points, 2 Assists, 24 Minutes)
  • Greg Monroe (16 Points, 10 Rebounds)
  • Tayshaun Prince (14 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 31 Minutes)
  • Austin Daye (37 Minutes, 4/14 Shooting, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks, 5 Rebounds, 10 Points)
  • Ben Gordon (DNP)

Austin Daye ladies and gentleman.  Other fantasy sites told you to wait and see if his breakout performance was for real.  I have been telling you to buy low on him since the day he was behind Tayshaun Prince getting less than 10 Minutes a game.  Austin Daye played huge minutes, he was heavily involved in the offense, and despite the poor offensive game he filled up the stat sheet.  It is good for Tayshaun Prince’s fantasy value that they can co-exist.  Rodney Stuckey had a good game, much better than what Brandon Knight did who had a career worst performance.  Luckily for both Knight and Stuckey, Ben Gordon will be out for some time so they will continue to get their chances.  Greg Monroe is putting up solid numbers all season, and this is a repeat of his last game.

Milwakuee:

  • Brandon Jennings (21 Points, 5 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 4 3PTM)
  • Drew Gooden (16 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Block, 25 Minutes)
  • Mike Dunleavy (20 Points, 26 Minutes, 8/10 Shooting, 2 3PTM)
  • Ersan Illysova (8 Points, 9 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 23 Minutes)
  • Carlos Delfino (10 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
  • Shaun Livingston (7 Points, 2 Rebounds)
  • Stephen Jackson (May Get Traded)

Brandon Jennings will be the heart and soul of this team as long as the Bucs do not acquire a superstar.  That is not likely.  Drew Gooden continues to be solid in Andrew Bogut’s abscense.  Ersan Illysova is stepping it up with his opportunity as well.  Carlos Delfino or Shaun Livingston will lose their starting job to Mike Dunleavy who is looking worth the add in fantasy leagues.  Stephen Jackson may land on the Nets, his fantasy value would be nice there as the team lacks a true SF.

Portland Trail Blazers 89 @ Utah Jazz 93

Portland:

  • LaMarcus Aldridge (25 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Raymond Felton (8 Points, 7 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Gerald Wallace (40 Minutes, 9 Points, 9 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Wesley Matthews (3/12 Shooting, 6 Points, 25 Minutes)
  • Marcus Camby (6 Points, 4 Blocks, 5 Rebounds, 28 Minutes)
  • Jamal Crawford (14 Points, 2 Assists, 24 Minutes)
  • Nicolas Batum (32 Minutes, 15 Points, 4 3PTM, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Jamal Crawford (25 Minutes, 14 Points, 2 Assists)

LaMarcus Aldridge continues to be consistent and solid every single night.  Raymond Felton returned to his good assist numbers, it would be nice to see him score double digits more often.  Wesley Matthews had a bad night which opened up the door for Nicholas Batum to semi-break out with 3 3PTM, he left the game with a knee injury, stay tuned.  Jamal Crawford did his usual off the bench, while Marcus Camby had to deal with foul trouble all game and still managed 4 blocks.  Gerald Wallace has a huge red X on his back for Fantasy Basketball purposes.  Even with 40 Minutes he still put up mediocre numbers at best.

Utah:

  • Al Jefferson (DNP-Ankle)
  • Derrick Favors (8 Points, 6 Rebounds, 26 Minutes)
  • Paul Millsap (19 Points, 15 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Devin Harris (13 Points, 4 Assists, 23 Minutes)
  • Earl Watson (6 Points, 5 Steals, 2 Blocks, 4 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 25 Minutes)
  • C.J. Miles (15 Points, 25 Minutes)
  • Josh Howard (11 Points, 7 Rebounds, 38 Minutes)

Al Jefferson did not play which opened up an opportunity for Derrick Favors who had a tough time with Portland’s interior.  Paul Millsap on the other hand had a dominant game.  Devin Harris was outplayed by Earl Watson, in nearly every aspect.  Read this article from a week ago.  C.J Miles had a great game, but surprisingly Josh Howard got the start, and most importantly the Jazz won the game.  That trend may continue which would make Josh Howard an enticing add if he see’s major minutes in the future.

Dallas Mavericks 122 @ Phoenix Suns 99

Dallas:

  • Dirk Nowitzki (10 Points, 4 Rebounds, 29 Minutes)
  • Rodrigue Beaubois (8 Points, 7 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 24 Minutes)
  • Vince Carter (21 Points, 2 Steals, 5 3PTM, 28 Minutes)
  • Shawn Marion (20 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Block, 27 Minutes)
  • Delonte West (25 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 5 3PTM, 29 Minutes)
  • Jason Terry (11 Points, 3 3PTM, 26 Minutes)
  • Lamar Odom (7 Points, 5 Rebounds, 15 Minutes)
  • Brendan Haywood (8 Rebounds, 2 Points, 20 Minutes)
  • Jason Kidd (DNP-Calf)

Dirk Nowitzki proved that his fantasy value is still pretty low with his return from resting.  Bad news for the fantasy owners who stayed patient, you could sell low and see what you get or wait for a big game.  Roddy B. had a decent game, but the real story was Delonte West who emerged from the bench to show that he needs consistent minutes.  Vince Carter also put another strong 20+ performance after doing it last night.  This is really hurting the value of Jason Terry who is finding himself a lot of competition for playing time.  This is very tough for Jason Kidd as well as all Mavericks guards who will now have a tough time seeing consistent minutes.  Lamar Odom is back to being buried on the bench, thanks to Shawn Marion who is playing great basketball right now.  Brendan Haywood remains a source of rebounds and blocks, but 20 Minutes is not enough playing time.

Phoenix Suns:

  • Steve Nash (DNP- Thigh)
  • Marcin Gortat (17 Points, 10 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Jared Dudley (15 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 3PTM)
  • Sebastian Telfair (13 Points, 6 Assists, 23 Minutes)
  • Grant Hill (12 Points)
  • Channing Frye (7 Points, 0 Rebounds, 20 Minutes, Started)
  • Markieff Morris (7 Points, 4 Rebounds, 20 Minutes)
  • Hakim Warrick (2 Points, 2 Rebounds, 11 Minutes)

No Steve Nash makes the Suns a very weak team.  Marcin Gortat continues to put up good numbers without him which builds a lot of confidence in his fantasy owners.  Jared Dudley is getting his opportunity to shine again, and so far he is 2/2 in good games.  Sebastian Telfair had a surprising good game with no Nash.  I would not add Telfair as he should have no value once Steve returns.  Frye, Morris, and Warrick continue to cancel each other out, while Grant Hill continues to put up low-end forward numbers consistently.

Oklahoma City Thunder 100 @ Los Angeles Clippers 112

Oklahoma City:

  • Kevin Durant (36 Points, 13 Rebounds, 4 3PTM, 3 Blocks)
  • Russell Westbrook (31 Points, 5 Steals, 1 Block, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists)
  • Serge Ibaka (31 Minutes, 2 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • James Harden (7 Points, 5 Assists, 1 Steal, 43 Minutes, Started)

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook continue to both play like 1st round picks.  Serge Ibaka had a disappointing game after scoring 20 in his last.  James Harden got a surprising start and showed that he is far more comfortable coming off the bench.

Los Angeles Clippers:

  • Chris Paul (26 Points, 14 Assists, 2 Steals, 2 3PTM)
  • Blake Griffin (22 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks)
  • Caron Butler (22 Points, 4 3PTM, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • DeAndre Jordan (11 Points, 11 Rebounds, 3 Blocks)
  • Chauncey Billups (13 Points, 5 Assists, 2 3PTM, 30 Minutes)
  • Mo Williams (12 Points, 5 Assists, 4 3PTM, 2 Steals, 31 Minutes)

Blake Griffin had what could be the dunk of the season on Kendrick Perkins.  Video is posted below.  Chris Paul had a great game and reminded all of his owners why they had to spend such a high draft pick to get him.  DeAndre Jordan is starting to put up some consistent solid numbers and had a great statement game that did not show up in the stat sheet.  Chauncey Billups and Mo Williams will both be fine fantasy options if they see 30+ Minutes.  Caron Butler had one of his better games all season, and continues to contribute to his steals, and 3PTM specialties.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Tuesday (1/31/12)

Atlanta Hawks 100 @ Toronto Raptors 77

Atlanta:

  • Joe Johnson (30 Points, 4 Assists, 3 3PTM, 31 Minutes)
  • Josh Smith (7 Points, 6 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal, 29 Minutes)
  • Marvin Williams (10 Points, 4 Rebounds, 22 Minutes)
  • Jeff Teague (10 Points, 5 Assists, 2 Steals, 27 Minutes)
  • Zaza Pachulia (10 Points, 6 Rebounds, 27 Minutes)

All Hawks were affected by the blowout as far as fantasy basketball goes.  Joe Johnson was the only starter to play over 30 Minutes, and he was simply on fire in the first half scoring more than 20 of his 30 Points.  Josh Smith had a rough game, never got in a good groove which is bad news for J. Smoove.  Jeff Teague continues to add to his assists and steals department in limited minutes.  Marvin Williams is still on fantasy owners bad side, while Zaza Pachulia could have had a double-double if he played more than 27 Minutes.

Toronto:

  • Jerryd Bayless (14 Points, 1 Steal, 26 Minutes)
  • Jose Calderon (6 Points, 9 Assists, 32 Minutes)
  • James Johnson (9 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 28 Minutes)
  • DeMar DeRozan (9 Points, 4 Rebounds, 34 Minutes)
  • Leandro Barbosa (4 Points, 3 Rebounds, 17 Minutes)
  • Amir Johnson (14 Minutes, 2 Points, 1 Rebound)
  • Ed Davis (11 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 26 Minutes)

Ed Davis looks to be the front runner for a big week with Amir Johnson starting and then not playing many minutes at all.  James Johnson almost had a double-double but failed to register a block, one steal is not enough from him.  Jerryd Bayless had a huge 1st half scoring 12 Points, then finished out the game with nothing, while Jose Calderon is doing himself no favors with his low scoring night after night.  DeMar DeRozan will continue to get big minutes all season until the Raptors give up on him.  That is not happening anytime soon.

New Jersey Nets 99 @ Indiana Pacers 106

New Jersey:

  • Deron Williams (34 Points, 7 Assists, 1 Block, 4 3PTM, 10/12 FT)
  • Anthony Morrow (28 Points, 5 3PTM)
  • Kris Humprhies (13 Points, 10 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • MarShon Brooks (DNP)
  • Brook Lopez (DNP)

Deron Williams continues to be a fantasy beast and is a great guard to build your team around.  Anthony Morrow does what he does best adding 5 3PTM while MarShon Brooks gets terrible news that he may be limited to 25+ Minutes a game when he comes back with his broken toe.  Makes Morrow a great player to own in all leagues and should not be a Free Agent.  Kris Humphries is putting together some nice games before he turns his value away to Brook Lopez.

Indiana:

  • Paul George (24 Points, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 4 3PTM)
  • Danny Granger (21 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 9/9 FT)
  • Roy Hibbert (18 Points, 14 Rebounds, 4 Blocks)
  • David West (6 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 Assists)
  • Darren Collison (23 Minutes, 8 Points, 3 Assists)
  • George Hill (24 Minutes, 2 Points, 3 Assists)
  • Tyler Hansbrough (10 Points, 3 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 21 Minutes)

Paul George had a mini breakout game, I am not a big guy on Paul as he does not take advantage of his big minutes on a consistent basis.  Danny Granger was typical Danny showing his 3rd round fantasy value.  Roy Hibbert dominated a Nets team that had nobody that could stop him.  David West did not do much, while Tyler Hansbrough did not do enough damage off the bench to be worried.  George Hill played more minutes than Darren Collison, both were very ineffective.

Boston Celtics 93 @ Cleveland Cavaliers 90

Boston:

  • Paul Pierce (20 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 3 Steals)
  • Kevin Garnett (32 Minutes, 13 Points, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists)
  • Ray Allen (12 Points, 8 Assists, 2 Steals, 2 3PTM)
  • Brandon Bass (29 Minutes, 13 Points, 6 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Jermaine O’Neal (24 Minutes, 12 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Rajon Rondo (DNP)

Cock Block of the year goes to Jermaine O’Neal who stepped in the path of Kevin Garnett who was 2 games away from gaining center eligibility.  Jermaine will start at center for the foreseeable future.  Paul Pierce continues to be a great fantasy option while Rajon Rondo is out, who could return Friday.  Ray Allen had a rare 8 Assists, to go along with his usual numbers.  Brandon Bass has been underperforming since his breakout opening Christmas day in New York.

Cleveland:

  • Kyrie Irving (38 Minutes, 21 Points, 6 Assists, 1 3PTM)
  • Antwan Jamison (36 Minutes, 12 Points, 3 Assists, 1 3PTM, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Anderson Varejao (20 Points, 20 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Ramon Sessions (10 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 6 Points)
  • Mychel Thompson (31 Minutes, 8 Points, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 2 3PTM)
  • Tristan Thompson (5 Minutes, 1 Rebound)

Kyrie Irving continues to show Cavs fans and fantasy owners that he is going to be a great PG in the NBA.  Antwan Jamison saved some face with a mediocre fantasy game, while Tristan Thompson only played 5 minutes.  Anderson Varejao had a breakout performance 20/20 and has always been the most underrated center in fantasy basketball.  Ramon Sessions reminded of his assist potential, and a trade to the Lakers could happen.  Ramon would be must-own if that were to happen.  Mychel Thompson made a surprise start and played heavy minutes, I would wait for now to add him.

Detroit Pistons 86 @ New York Knicks 113

Detroit:

  • Rodney Stuckey (13 Points, 3 Assists, 27 Minutes)
  • Brandon Knight (9 Points, 1 Assist, 26 Minutes)
  • Greg Monroe (13 Points, 12 Rebounds, 4 Steals)
  • Tayshaun Prince (10 Points, 4 Rebounds, 5/13 Shooting, 28 Minutes)
  • Austin Daye (7 Points, 3 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 1 3PTM, 25 Minutes)
  • Ben Gordon (DNP)

Rodney Stuckey continues to be the more valuable PG in Detroit while Ben Gordon is out.  Brandon Knight is on a cold streak and this is a big test for the rookie to see if he can bounce back.  Greg Monroe is solid every night with potential for monster games, the 4 steals was a great bonus.  Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye are co-existing, Daye is showing way more potential in reality, and fantasy.

New York:

  • Carmelo Anthony (33 Minutes, 25 Points, 6 Assists, 2 3PTM, 5/5 FT)
  • Amar’e Stoudemire (15 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists)
  • Tyson Chandler (17 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Landry Fields (32 Minutes, 5 Steals, 1 Block, 18 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 3PTM)
  • Iman Shumpert (35 Minutes, 6 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals)
  • Toney Douglas (20 Minutes, 4 Points, 2 Assists)
  • Baron Davis (DNP)

Carmelo Anthony returned with a nice fantasy line, but most importantly a Knicks win.  That will help his fantasy value as the team grows confidence that he can carry them.  Landry Fields had a breakout night, it would be surprising to see this last too long.  Iman Shumpert got the start at PG and excelled, earlier in the day there were hints that his days as a PG were over.  Tyson Chandler continues to be solid, and who would of thought he would outplay Amar’e Stoudmire on a consistent basis.

Denver Nuggets 97 @ Memphis Grizzles 100

Denver:

  • Ty Lawson (Started, 35 Minutes, 12 Points, 4 Assists, 5 TO, 2 3PTM)
  • Andre Miller (Bench, 39 Minutes, 20 Points, 6 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 2 Steals)
  • Nene Hilario (14 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 2 Blocks)
  • Danilo Gallinari (8 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1/10 Shooting)
  • Al Harrington (23 Points, 10 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 3 3PTM, 38 Minutes)
  • Aaron Afflalo (36 Minutes, 8 Points, 3 Rebounds)

Ty Lawson got the start, however he was outplayed in every aspect by Andre Miller.  Not good news for Lawson and his downward trending fantasy value.  Nene was decent, you can’t complain about 3 steals and 2 blocks, but the rebounding was a little low.  Danilo Gallinari had a terrible game shooting 10% yet he almost came with a double-double.  Al Harrington exploded off the bench, this will happen from time to time as the consistency is not there.  Aaron Afflalo plays big minutes yet continues to be a better real life basketball player, than fantasy.

Memphis:

  • Rudy Gay (20 Points, 13 Rebounds, 7/20 FG, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks, 5 Assists)
  • Mike Conley (11 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Marc Gasol (20 Points, 13 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 3 Blocks, 50 Minutes)
  • Tony Allen (17 Points, 8 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 1 Steal, 36 Minutes)
  • O.J. Mayo (18 Points, 2 Assists, 3 3PTM, 33 Minutes)
  • Marreese Speights (5 Points, 4 Rebounds, 18 Minutes)
  • Zach Randolph (DNP)

Rudy Gay bounced back from his 1 Point performance Monday night with a huge double-double.  Nice to see him shoot the ball 20 times.  Marc Gasol also reminded us of his value and played 50 minutes in a game that went to overtime.  He is easily a top 5 center in fantasy basketball this season.  O.J. Mayo had a great game, but even with the great game he was outplayed by Tony Allen who not only scored 17 Points, but he had 4 Blocks and 8 Rebounds.  Mike Conley continues to rack up assists, steals, and 3PTM.

Charlotte Bobcats 73 @ Los Angeles Lakers 106

Charlotte:

  • Kemba Walker (12 Points, 6 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM)
  • Boris Diaw (11 Points, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Byron Mullens (17 Minutes, Bench, 4 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Tyrus Thomas (28 Minutes, 6 Points, 2 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Gerald Henderson (30 Minutes, 7/16 FG, 14 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • D.J. Augustin (DNP)

Kemba Walker continues to be the heart and soul of Charlotte.  That is why their team is 3-19 with a 9 game losing streak.  Byron Mullens came off the bench to do nothing, terrible situation for all big men on that team.  Boris Diaw is putting together some of the last touches on what will be one of the last chances to trade him and sell high.  Gerald Henderson took a lot of shots and had a Wesley Matthews type game.  Tyrus Thomas showed us that the consistency may not be there, I would want to see two more games like this before I stop believing.  D.J. Augustin could be out for a longer time than expected.

Lakers:

  • Andrew Bynum (20 Points, 11 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 32 Minutes)
  • Kobe Bryant (24 Points, 2/11 3PTM, 3 Rebounds, 1 Assists, 28 Minutes)
  • Pau Gasol (10 Points, 9 Rebounds, 30 Minutes)

The Lakers are still a 3 man fantasy basketball team.  Andrew Bynum had a nice game, it looks like his offensive touches are starting to come more consistently.  Kobe Bryant tried to make it rain from 3PT range shooting it 11 times, that would make his fantasy value through the roof he could hit half of those.  Pau Gasol continues to be soft, and should be putting up bigger lines against a Bobcats team in 30 Minutes of action.

Sacramento Kings 90 @ Golden State Warriors 93

Sacramento:

  • Tyreke Evans (22 Points, 10 Rebounds, 9 Assists, 3 Steals, 1 Block)
  • DeMarcus Cousins (21 Points, 14 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Jason Thompson (13 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • John Salmons (8 Points, 1 Block)
  • Jimmer Fredette (5 Points, 2 Assists)
  • Isaiah Thomas (11 Points, 4 Assists)
  • Marcus Thornton (DNP)

Tyreke Evans continues to have breakout games when Marcus Thornton does not play.  I do expect him to put them up occasionally, but this seems like an every night occurrence while he is out.  DeMarcus Cousins continues to be a beast consistently.  John Salmons is worthless in fantasy, the same could be said about Jimmer Fredette while Isaiah Thomas shows some nice upside as long as Thornton is out.

Golden State:

  • David Lee (15 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
  • Stephen Curry (3 Points, 8 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Monta Ellis (12 Points, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 1 Steal)
  • Dorrell Wright (24 Minutes, 3 3PTM, 15 Points, 2 Steals)
  • Brandon Rush (25 Minutes, 20 Points, 6 Rebounds)
  • Klay Thompson (20 Minutes, 2/10 FG, 4 Points)

Stephen Curry was complaining about his ankle yesterday, and tonight we saw a terrible performance where he was 1/7 from the field.  There is some reason to be worried at the moment.  Monta Ellis owners are very worried now that he showed he cannot have a huge game when Steph Curry has nothing going on.  I would be patient with the NBA All-Star.  David Lee had a tough time battling the bigs of Sacramento but more or less got the job done.  Five more rebounds would have had owners happy.  Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson continue to bring heat every night to Dorrell Wright, even when he has a nice game like tonight, he was still out done by Rush.

Wednesday (2/1/12)

Chicago Bulls 82 @ Philadelphia 76ers 98

Chicago:

  • Derrick Rose (18 Points, 6 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM)
  • Joakim Noah (2 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 27 Minutes)
  • Carlos Boozer (9 Points, 9 Rebounds, 4/11 Shooting)
  • Ronnie Brewer (6 Points, 2 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Kyle Korver (1 3PTM, 9 Points)
  • C.J. Watson (20 Points, 4 3PTM, 4 Assists)
  • Luol Deng (DNP)
  • Rip Hamilton (DNP)

Derrick Rose had a tough time performing at his MVP level against Jrue Holiday.  Joakim Noah had his streak of double-doubles end at 5, if he can bounce back then he has real fantasy value.  Carlos Boozer nearly got a double-double despite having a rough game.  Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver both look to lose their fantasy value very shortly once Luol Deng and Rip Hamilton return, which could be this week.

Philadelphia:

  • Andre Iguodala (19 Points, 9 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Jrue Holiday (17 Points, 5 Assists, 35 Minutes)
  • Louis Williams (14 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 29 Minutes)
  • Evan Turner (27 Minutes, 2 Points, 2 Steals, 6 Rebounds)
  • Jodie Meeks (14 Minutes, 3 Points)
  • Elton Brand (7 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Block, 28 Minutes)
  • Thaddeus Young (19 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 28 Minutes)
  • Spencer Hawes (DNP)

Andre Iguodala carried the 76ers to a victory and made a few big statement plays.  The team trusts him as their veteran.  Jrue Holiday had a better defensive game shutting down Rose than offensive.  Fantasy owners were happy to see the big minutes and scoring.  Louis Williams continues to be a threat off the bench, he is a little too inconsistent for fantasy.  Jodie Meeks and Evan Turner are both best left for fantasy benches, I do like Turner in the long run.  Thaddeus Young outplayed Elton Brand which seems to be a common theme.  It will be interesting to see how they play the two when Spencer  Hawes returns, which should be this week.

Washington Wizards 103 @ Orlando Magic 109

Washington:

  • John Wall (2 Points, 10 Assists, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Nick Young (24 Points, 4 3PTM)
  • Rashard Lewis (20 Points, 8 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 3 3PTM, 37 Minutes)
  • Javale McGee (24 Minutes, 6 Points, 6 Rebounds)
  • Jordan Crawford (35 Minutes, 19 Points, 6 Assists, 1 Steal, 3 3PTM)
  • Trevor Booker (8 Points, 2 Blocks, 9 Rebounds, 22 Minutes)

Trevor Booker is starting to look like a potential fantasy add.  Jordan Crawford is now getting big minutes consistently, and he is taking a boat load of shots every night.  He is a MUST-ADD player in all leagues.  Javale McGee struggled against big Dwight Howard, no surprise there.  Nick Young and Rashard Lewis will both give you a lot of 3PTM, Nick Young however scores way more consistently than the ex-3PT king.  John Wall had a rare poor performance despite the game being close.

Orlando:

  • Dwight Howard (23 Points, 4 Steals, 18 Rebounds)
  • Chris Duhon (30 Minutes, 7 Points, 4 Assists)
  • Ryan Anderson (23 Points, 7 Rebounds, 6 3PTM)
  • Hedo Turkolgu (16 Points, 5 Assists, 4 Rebounds)
  • J.J. Reddick (21 Points, 3 3PTM)
  • Jameer Nelson (DNP)
  • Jason Richardson (DNP)

Dwight Howard continues to be a fantasy beast every single night.  J.J. Reddick has been taking advantage of the no Jason Richardson time a lot better lately.  Ryan Anderson is now starting to show some consistency and is a great roto player with his 3PTM.  Chris Duhon is keep Jameer Nelson’s seat warm, while Hedo Turkolgu put up a nice game to show he still has some left in the tank.

Toronto Raptors 63 @ Boston Celtics 100

Toronto:

  • Jose Calderon (1 Point, 7 Assists)
  • DeMar DeRozan (8 Points, 3/12 Shooting)
  • Jerryd Bayless (14 Points, 27 Minutes)
  • Leandro Barbosa (4 Points, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 21 Minutes)
  • James Johnson (3/11 Shooting, 7 Points, 1 Block)
  • Ed Davis (10 Points, 12 Rebounds, 2 Blocks)
  • Amir Johnson (20 Minutes, 3 Rebounds, 0 Points)
  • Andrea Bargnani (DNP)

Toronto did what they could in a blowout.  Jerryd Bayless outplayed Jose Calderon off the bench, the same argument could be made for Leandro Barbosa over DeMar DeRozanJames Johnson failed to get a steal, and one block is not enough.  He is starting to slow down, though he can breakout any night.  Ed Davis is well ahead of Amir Johnson on the depth chart and is a great start with Andrea Bargnani out.

Boston:

  • Paul Pierce (17 Points, 8 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Ray Allen (12 Points, 5 Assists, 1 3PTM)
  • Brandon Bass (12 Points, 9 Rebounds, 31 Minutes)
  • Kevin Garnett (7 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 17 Minutes)
  • Jermaine O’Neal (6 Points, 14 Minutes)
  • Rajon Rondo (DNP)

Brandon Bass got a lot of work tonight as KG and J. O’Neal sat in the majority of the second half.  Paul Pierce got all of his stats in the 1st half and took his team to victory.  Rajon Rondo could return Friday, it will be interesting to see how everyone’s fantasy value is affected.  Ray Allen now has 13 assists in his last two games.  Enjoy it will it lasts.

Detroit Pistons 96 @ New Jersey Nets 99

Detroit:

  • Greg Monroe (21 Points, 8 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Brandon Knight (43 Minutes, 15 Points, 5 Assists, 4 Rebounds)
  • Rodney Stuckey (7 Points, 3 Assists)
  • Tayshaun Prince (21 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 40 Minutes)
  • Austin Daye (11 Minutes, 0/3 Shooting)
  • Ben Gordon (DNP)

Rodney Stuckey had a bad game, while Brandon Knight ate up a lot of minutes and did not really do anything special.  Greg Monroe continues to be a beast in the inside.  He was ranked as the #6 fantasy center for this month.  Check out all the rankings here.  Tayshaun Prince had a huge game and put Austin Daye on the bench all night.  I would use this more as an opportunity to buy very low for Daye or scoop him up.  His upside is too good to be ignored in fantasy leagues.

New Jersey:

  • Deron Williams (26 Points, 9 Assists)
  • Kris Humphries (18 Points, 8 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Jordan Farmar (31 Minutes, 15 Points)
  • Anthony Morrow (DNP-Ankle)
  • MarShon Brooks (DNP)
  • Brook Lopez (DNP)

Deron Williams had a huge game as he somehow led his shorthanded New Jersey squad to a victory.  Kris Humphries helped out as much as he could with no other proven scoring option on the court.  Jordan Farmar got some nice minutes with no Anthony Morrow or MarShon Brooks tonight.  He was decent and provides good insurance for Deron Williams.

Phoenix Suns 120 @ New Orleans 103

Phoenix:

  • Steve Nash (30 Points, 10 Assists, 1 3PTM)
  • Jared Dudley (15 Points, 3 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Marcin Gortat (23 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Channing Frye (33 Minutes, 16 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 3PTM)
  • Josh Childress (8 Points, 4 Rebounds, 22 Minutes)

Steve Nash had a huge breakout game coming off the thigh injury that caused him to miss one.  Jared Dudley is playing great since his promotion to the starting 5 again.  That is 3/3 solid games.  Marcin Gortat continues to be a fantasy beast, while Channing Frye may have had the game that separated him from Hakim Warrick and Markieff Morris.  He would be must-add material if he gets these minutes consistently, which all signs pointing to that happening.  Josh Childress may have replaced Grant Hill or at least canceled out the two.

New Orleans:

  • Greivis Vasquez (28 Minutes, 20 Points, 12 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 3 3PTM)
  • Jarrett Jack (10 Points, 6 Assits, 2 3PTM, 31 Minutes)
  • Emeka Okafor (30 Minutes, 11 Points, 6 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 1 Block)
  • Trevor Ariza (15 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 Assists)
  • Jason Smith (16 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 34 Minutes)
  • Carl Landry (14 Minutes, 6 Points)

Greivis Vasquez is quietly averaging 8 Assists and 10+ Points in his last three games.  He for now remains an excellent insurance policy for Jarrett Jack owners, who got all of his stats in the first half before turning the keys.  Emeka Okafor continues to be the only reliable big man for New Orleans.  For now hold onto Carl Landry if you have the roster space, he was a big part of their playoff push last season.  Trevor Ariza had a solid game, it would be hardly surprising to see him falter in the next one.

Indiana Pacers 109 @ Minnesota Timberwolves 99

Indiana:

  • Danny Granger (36 Points, 7 Rebounds, 5 3PTM)
  • Roy Hibbert (15 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Blocks)
  • Paul George (10 Points, 2 Blocks, 20 Minutes)
  • Darren Collison (20 Points, 9 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
  • David West (12 Points, 8 Rebounds, 24 Minutes)
  • Tyler Hansbrough (7 Points, 5 Rebounds, 27 Minutes)
  • George Hill (DNP-Ankle)

Danny Granger showed off his high potential to put up 3rd round value almost every night.  Big Roy Hibbert has been rock solid all season, he is where Greg Monroe was last month.  Paul George had a bad game despite George Hill not playing.  That is disappointing to his fantasy owners who wanted him to build off his break out game.  Darren Collison broke out and finally put up a game they have been expecting for two years now.  David West was solid in 24 Minutes almost double-doubling.  Tyler Hansbrough has to put up better lines when he gets 27 Minutes.  Pre-Season hype was too high on Tyler.

Minnesota:

  • Kevin Love (21 Points, 17 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Ricky Rubio (10 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Rebounds)
  • Darko Milicic (2/9 Shooting, 4 Points)
  • Nikola Pekovic (13 Points, 12 Rebounds, 29 Minutes)
  • Michael Beasley (3/11 Shooting, 11 Points, 21 Minutes)
  • Derrick Williams (4 Points, 11 Minutes)
  • Luke Ridnour (16 Points, 4 Assists, 28 Minutes)

Kevin Love continues to play like a top 3 pick.  Ricky Rubio showed his scoring was a fluke from last game, and his assists need to be higher than 6.  Otherwise he’s a better version of Jose Calderon.  Darko came back tonight and started, while Nikola outplayed him off the bench and is showing off his potential Marcin Gortat.  Michael Beasley shot the ball once every two minutes, a common theme since returning from his injury.  Tonight he could not find the net, while Derrick Williams has trouble finding the court with all this depth.

Oklahoma City Thunder 95 @ Dallas Mavericks 86

OKC:

  • Kevin Durant (23 Points, 13 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks)
  • Russell Westbrook (33 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 2 3PTM)
  • Serge Ibaka (4 Points, 11 Rebounds, 10 Blocks)
  • James Harden (10 Points, 9 Assists, 7 Rebounds)

Russell Westbrook had an explosive game as he even added a block to that line.  He is an elite fantasy option every night, and so is Kevin Durant who has been grabbing more rebounds.  Eventually KDirty will get his scoring up with some 40+ Point games.  Serge Ibaka had 10 blocks, that is enough to make him a must start in every league.  James Harden almost 3×2 and looked more comfortable coming off the bench after starting earlier this week.

Dallas:

  • Jason Terry (25 Points, 2 Steals, 2 3PTM)
  • Rodrigue Beaubois (9 Points, 4 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
  • Delonte West (5 Points, 3 Assists, 2 Blocks)
  • Vince Carter (8 Points, 5 Rebounds, 29 Minutes)
  • Dirk Nowitzki (2/15 FG, 8 Points, 8 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
  • Shawn Marion (12 Points, 10 Rebounds)
  • Lamar Odom (DNP-Illness)
  • Jason Kidd (DNP)
  • Brendan Haywood (DNP-Back)

Dirk Nowitzki has officially proved that he is not the same player.  Never in a big game would Dirk consistently look so bad including tonights 2/15 shooting performance.  Shawn Marion remains one of the most important players on that team and remains a good fantasy asset.  Vince Carter’s hot streak ended, while Delonte West and Roddy B. did nothing to gain a huge advantage.  Jason Terry stood out and marked his territory as the main Guard off the bench when everyone is healthy again.

Houston Rockets 91 @ San Antonio Spurs 99

Houston:

  • Kyle Lowry (15 Points, 7 Assists, 2 Steal, 1 Blocks)
  • Kevin Martin (29 Points, 6 3PTM, 9 Rebounds, 4 Assists)
  • Samuel Dalembert (9 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 4 Points, 26 Minutes)
  • Luis Scola (25 Minutes, 4 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Jordan Hill (6 Points, 10 Rebounds, 23 Minutes)
  • Courtney Lee (33 Minutes, 15 Points, 1 Steal)

Kyle Lowry had a better game than we have seen recently from him.  Be patient.  Kevin Martin continues to be red hot and was great for all fantasy owners who were patient with him to start the season.  Samuel Dalembert is looking to have some competition with Jordan Hill, though his rebounding and blocks will always be there.  Luis Scola continues to be one of the biggest busts in fantasy basketball this season.  Chase Budinger and Chandler Parsons both showed there’s no reason to own either them as they both played a combined 24 Minutes.  Courtney Lee could be an option if the lineup switches around.

San Antonio:

  • Tony Parker (24 Points, 4 Assists, 2 Steals)
  • Tim Duncan (25 Points, 7 Rebounds, 31 Minutes, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • DeJuan Blair (0 Points, 7 Rebounds, 20 Minutes)
  • Richard Jefferson (6 Points, 20 Minutes)
  • Kawhi Leonard (3 Points, 8 Minutes)

Tim Duncan had a monstrous performance and is very likely to sit Thursday.  DeJuan Blair is a worthless body in the middle as far as fantasy goes.  Richard Jefferson and Kawhi Leonard have very little fantasy worth in the next week or so.  Tony Parker had a big scoring night, but his assists were down from his usual.  Take the good with the bad and move on, though his value does stand to drop when Manu Ginobili returns.

Charlotte Bobcats 68 @ Portland Trail Blazers 112

Charlotte:

  • KembaWalker (4 Points, 3 Assists, 1 Steal)
  • Gerald Henderson (16 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Boris Diaw (3 Points, 6 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Tyrus Thomas (7 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks)
  • Byron Mullens (10 Points, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal, 2 Assists)

Kemba Walker the heart and soul led the Bobcats to another blowout loss making them losers of 10 straight.  Gerald Henderson was the lone bright spot offensively.  He is a less consistent Wesley MatthewsBoris Diaw’s trade value is pretty low, hopefully you moved him before it was too late again.  Byron Mullens had a nice game off the bench and looks to get that starting spot back.  Tyrus Thomas showed some nice potential and I am a believer in him again.

Portland:

  • Wesley Matthews (6 Points, 6 Assists, 5 Rebounds)
  • Jamal Crawford (24 Points, 4 3PTM, 2 Steals)
  • LaMarcus Aldridge (22 Points, 3 Rebounds, 1 Block, 27 Minutes)
  • Gerald Wallace (23 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Raymond Felton (11 Points, 7 Assists, 2 Steals)
  • Marcus Camby (5 Blocks, 7 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 4 Points)
  • Nicolas Batum (DNP-Knee)

All Blazers played limited minutes as this game was over by the end of the 1st quarter.  LaMarcus Aldridge put up another 20+ while Gerald Wallace destroyed his former team with 20+ of his own.  Raymond Felton grabbed a nice amount of assists, while Jamal Crawford really took advantage of the garbage time to get his numbers up.  Wesley Matthews had a nice all-around game, and the same could be said about Marcus Camby who had 5 Blocks in limited minutes.  All of these players benefited from Nicolas Batum who missed tonight and is questionable for the next game.

Los Angeles Clippers 107 @ Utah Jazz 105

Los Angeles:

  • Chris Paul (34 Points, 11 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 3 3PTM, 3 Steals)
  • Blake Griffin (31 Points, 14 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • DeAndre Jordan (8 Points, 11 Rebounds, 0 Blocks)
  • Chauncey Billups (8 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 34 Minutes)
  • Mo Williams (19 Points, 2 3PTM, 34 Minutes)
  • Caron Butler (DNP-Back)

Chris Paul is playing like the hottest PG in the NBA.  Without Caron Butler, Blake Griffin took his scoring to the next level.  DeAndre Jordan almost got a double-double though 0 blocks is always weird to see in his stat line.  Mo Williams outplayed Chauncey Billups and those two will continue to cancel each other out as far as consistency goes.

Utah:

  • Al Jefferson (27 Points, 12 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Paul Millsap (14 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Devin Harris (8 Points, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 35 Minutes)
  • Earl Watson (20 Minutes, 8 Assists)
  • Josh Howard (4 Points, 3 Rebounds, 22 Minutes)
  • C.J. Miles (21 Minutes, 16 Points)
  • Gordon Hayward (12 Points, 33 Minutes)
  • Derrick Favors (19 Minutes, 14 Points, 3 Rebounds)

Al Jefferson had a dominant return to the court and showed off why he is the #2 Fantasy center when he is 100%.  Paul Millsap had a nice game, though his fantasy owners expect more.  Always bad when Derrick Favors comes off the bench and scores the same amount.  C.J. Miles continues to be the best SG/SF option however the Jazz continue to start Gordon Hayward and Josh HowardDevin Harris got a lot more minutes than Earl Watson, yet Earl Watson was +8 on the court with 8 Assists and Devin Harris was -7 with 4 Assists.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Thursday (2/2/12)

Memphis Grizzles 96 @ Atlanta Hawks 77

Memphis:

  • Rudy Gay (21 Points, 3 Steals, 6 Rebounds)
  • Tony Allen (18 Points, 6 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 33 Minutes)
  • O.J. Mayo (18 Points, 2 Steals, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 28 Minutes)
  • Mike Conley (15 Points, 4 Steals, 6 Assists)
  • Marc Gasol (11 Points, 10 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 2 Blocks)

Tony Allen is playing the type of basketball that nobody could have ever performed.  He is scoring the ball consistently and is averaging 13.6 Points over his last 5 games.  The problem with Allen is O.J. Mayo, and the problem for O.J. Mayo is Tony Allen.  Mike Conley is a steals, assists machine.  Usually he adds a 3PTM, but owners will accept the 15 points.  Marc Gasol had a weak double-double but for a center that would be considered a solid game.  Rudy Gay after back-to-back strong game we will forget about that 1 Point performance.

Atlanta:

  • Joe Johnson (10 Points, 4 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 2 3PTM)
  • Josh Smith (11 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Jeff Teague (6 Points, 4 Assists, 1 Block)
  • Marvin Williams (9 Points, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM)
  • Zaza Pachulia (7 Points, 2 Rebounds)

The Hawks got buried at home against a much better Memphis squad.  Joe Johnson and Josh Smith were shut out.  Some people are worried about Joe Johnson’s inconsistency, but in the games where Joe Johnson scores 20 Points or more, the Hawks are 9-1.  The only loss coming to Miami who is arguably the best team in the NBA.  Conclusion is, Joe Johnson is a valuable part of the Hawks success and they need him to perform night in and night out.  Josh Smith however is going to put up bad lines in blowouts most of the time, because he is the type of player that thrives on steals, blocks, and rebounds.  When you play 19 Minutes like he did tonight, lines like this will happen.  Jeff Teague is starting to lose a lot of consistency and remains a time to get ready to trade him away.  Marvin Williams should not be active on any fantasy roster, the same goes for Zaza Pachulia unless you are very desperate.

Chicago Bulls 105 @ New York Knicks 102

Chicago:

  • Derrick Rose (32 Points, 13 Assists, 1 Steal, 2 3PTM)
  • Carlos Boozer (16 Points, 9 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Joakim Noah (10 Points, 9 Rebounds, 4 Blocks)
  • Kyle Korver (16 Points, 3 3PTM)
  • Ronnie Brewer (6 Points, 1 Block, 1 Steal)
  • C.J. Watson (12 Points, 3 Steals)
  • Rip Hamilton (DNP)
  • Luol Deng (DNP)

Luol Deng.  If you want to read my thoughts on him read Question of the WeekRip Hamilton should be back shortly, which will cut into the value of most likely Kyle Korver.  I do not see how the Bulls can start both Rip and Kyle as that would be a huge defensive liability.  Ronnie Brewer will continue to see value until Deng returns.  Derrick Rose had a stellar night and reminded us why he was the MVP.  Joakim Noah had a nice game for being in foul trouble.  Hard to trust him, but more likely would trust him today than I did yesterday.  Carlos Boozer has been rock steady for a while.  I would love to acquire him in a trade.

New York Knicks:

  • Carmelo Anthony (26 Points, 2 Steals, 4 Rebounds, 10/26 FG)
  • Amare Stoudemire (34 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 16/27 FG)
  • Iman Shumpert (10 Points, 8 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 1 Steal)
  • Tyson Chandler (9 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Landry Fields (17 Points, 3 3PTM, 4 Assists)
  • Toney Douglas (6 Points, 2/7 FG)
  • Baron Davis (DNP)

Amare Stoudemire had a huge night and reminded us all why he was taken in the 1st round of most drafts.  Carmelo put up a nice line but continues to miss a lot of shots.  A lot of shots.  Iman Shumpert is looking solid and has a big advantage over Toney Douglas for that PG spot.  Baron Davis continues to sit.  The Knicks badly need a PG and B.Diddy has a chance to be that guy.  Tyson Chandler continues to be a consistent double-double threat.

New Orleans Hornets 81 @ San Antonio Spurs 93

New Orleans:

  • Jarrett Jack (DNP-Knee)
  • Greivis Vasquez (16 Points, 5 Assists, 2 Steals, 7/14 FG)
  • Emeka Okafor (8 Points, 5 Rebounds, 5 Fouls)
  • Carl Landry (17 Points, 4 Rebounds, 28 Minutes)
  • Jason Smith (6 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 31 Minutes)
  • Trevor Ariza (33 Minutes, 5 Points, 2 Blocks, 1 3PTM)

Jarrett Jack was a late scratch and let a surging Vasquez get a freebie to start.  Luckily for Jack owners he did not over perform, however he is a great insurance player to own as he is more than capable of taking away that starting spot.  Emeka Okafor has been horrible lately, you can either buy low on him or keep going.  Carl Landry had a big game, but is still behind Jason Smith on the depth chart.  Landry is too inconsistent right now to use because of his minutes situation, Trevor Ariza is the other way around.  He gets too many minutes and usually puts up games like this.

San Antonio:

  • Tony Parker (18 Points, 7 Assists, 5 Rebounds)
  • Tim Duncan (19 Points, 9 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 23 Minutes)
  • Richard Jefferson (7 Points, 1 3PTM)
  • Tiaggo Splitter (16 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Dejuan Blair (3 Points, 6 Rebounds)
  • Kawhi Leonard (12 Minutes, 2 Points, Bench)
  • Gary Neal (7 Points, 1 3PTM, 29 Minutes)
  • Manu Ginobili (DNP)

Dejuan Blair and Kawhi Leonard are officially droppable in all leagues.  Tiaggo Splitter is the better player than Blair, while Leonard has now fallen behind Richard Jefferson and Gary Neal.  When Manu Ginobili comes back Leonard may not see any time.  Tim Duncan heroically played in back-to-back games.  He put up amazing numbers in limited minutes which goes to show how soft New Orleans defense is.  Tony Parker put up a decent game after having a terrible 1st half.

Portland Trail Blazers 92 @ Sacramento Kings 95

Portland:

  • LaMarcus Aldridge (28 Points, 14 Rebounds)
  • Gerald Wallace (8 Points, 2 Steals, 3 Rebounds, 40 Minutes)
  • Marcus Camby (5 Blocks, 4 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 24 Minutes)
  • Raymond Felton (15 Points, 10 Assists, 3 Steals)
  • Wesley Matthews (9 Points, 3 Steals)
  • Jamal Crawford (17 Points, 6/17 FG)
  • Nicolas Batum (DNP)

Gerald Wallace owners.  This is a warning as he had a terrible game with no Nicolas Batum.  On top of that he played 40 Minutes and could not score double figures against John Salmons?  I would use the next opportunity I have to sell high on him.  He is inconsistent so he will explode for something randomly when you least expect it.  LaMarcus Aldridge continues to show why he is a 1st round pick in all drafts that started today.  Raymond Felton had a nice game for the first time in a while, while Jamal Crawford is now officially a safer option than the inconsistent Wesley Matthews.

Sacramento:

  • Marcus Thornton (20 Points, 2 Steals, 2 3PTM, 42 Minutes)
  • Tyreke Evans (18 Points, 5 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 41 Minutes)
  • DeMarcus Cousins (8 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Fouls, 14 Minutes)
  • Jason Thompson (13 Points, 12 Rebounds, 1 Block, 33 Minutes)
  • Chuck Hayes (3 Points, 5 Rebounds, 29 Minutes)
  • John Salmons (19 Points, 8 Rebounds)

Marcus Thornton returned to the Kings lineup which once again showed off how inconsistent Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins can be.  I would be ready to sell high on Tyreke the next chance I have.  Thornton is the go-to-guy in that offense most nights.  Jason Thompson had a great game even in the return of Chuck Hayes who got a lot of minutes because of Cousin’s foul trouble.  John Salmons had a rare good game and could be worth owning in deeper leagues.  Though this was by far his best game of the season.

Denver Nuggets 112 @ Los Angeles Clippers 91

Denver:

  • Danilo Gallinari (21 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 5/5 3PTM, 28 Minutes)
  • Ty Lawson (32 Minutes, 18 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Rebounds)
  • Nene Hilario (22 Minutes, 8 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4/12 FG)
  • Andre Miller (29 Minutes, 8 Points, 8 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Al Harrington (21 Minutes, 8 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Aaron Afflalo (15 Points, 1 3PTM, 36 Minutes)

Danilo Gallinari had a breakout night and did not even play in the 4th quarter.  Neither did Nene who ended up with very poor stats.  Ty Lawson had a great game and definitely gave his owners some confidence.  Though Andre Miller also had a great game and is just as capable of running the offense.  Al Harrington will have nights like this consistently, while Aaron Afflalo proves he has little value even when he gets big minutes.  He was a huge waste of money for Denver, if Denver cared at all about his fantasy value.

Los Angeles:

  • Chris Paul (31 Minutes, 15 Points, 9 Assists, 1 Steal)
  • Blake Griffin (32 Minutes, 18 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Blocks)
  • Caron Butler (25 Minutes, 11 Points, 5/14 FG)
  • Chauncey Billups (23 Minutes, 8 Points, 3 Assists)
  • DeAndre Jordan (28 Minutes, 2 Points, 5 Blocks, 9 Rebounds)
  • Mo Williams (24 Minutes, 6/13 FG, 13 Points, 6 Assists)
  • Randy Foye (28 Minutes, 17 Points, 3 Steals, 1 Block, 7/11 FG)

Randy Foye put on a show in the 4th quarter for the Clippers who rested all of their starters.  He looked electric and like a starting SG that has been buried on the bench for too long.  This is going to be a headache for Chauncey Billups and Mo Williams who stand to lose the most value.  Chris Paul had a nice game for not playing the 4th quarter at all, same could be said for Blake Griffin who was way more explosive last night.  DeAndre Jordan racked up the rebounds and blocks, like usual.  Caron Butler surprisingly played and put up a lot of shot attempts which will make his owners happy.

Utah Jazz 101 @ Golden State 119

Utah:

  • Devin Harris (DNP)
  • Earl Watson (DNP)
  • Jamaal Tinsley (34 Minutes, 9 Points, 13 Assists, 6 Rebounds)
  • Paul Millsap (15 Points, 11 Rebounds, 7/12 FG, 29 Minutes)
  • Al Jefferson (32 Minutes, 8/17 FG, 19 Points, 6 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 2 Blocks)
  • Gordon Hayward (21 Points, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 4 Assists, 39 Minutes)
  • Josh Howard (40 Minutes, 19 Points, 4 Assists)
  • C.J. Miles (13 Minutes, 3 Points)
  • Derrick Favors (3 Points, 4 Rebounds, 19 Minutes)

Devin Harris and Earl Watson owners saw their worst nightmare.  Jamaal Tinsley who career wise is probably the best of the three exploded for a huge night.  All three should constantly battle for playing time.  Al Jefferson played 30+ Minutes in back-to-back games showing his ankle is not a huge concern.  Paul Millsap had a nice second half after battling foul trouble.  Josh Howard surprisingly played 40 Minutes leaving C.J. Miles on the bench along with Derrick FavorsGordon Hayward is getting hot and is surprisingly averaging 16.5 Points in his last 4 games.  He should be on fantasy radars.

Golden State:

  • Monta Ellis (33 Points, 3 Steals, 3 3PTM)
  • Stephen Curry (29 Points, 12 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 2 3PTM)
  • David Lee (23 Points, 14 Rebounds, 9/23 FG)
  • Dorrell Wright (13 Points, 2 3PTM, 28 Minutes)
  • Brandon Rush (17 Minutes, 1/4 FG)
  • Klay Thompson (8 Minutes, 2 Points)
  • Ekpe Udoh (18 Minutes, 7 Points, 3 Blocks, 1 Steal, 4 Rebounds)

Stephen Curry went off Thursday night, and his excellent play also propelled Monta Ellis.  Owners who were patient were happy to see both breakout.  David Lee was very solid with a strong double-double.  Dorrell Wright does not offer much in fantasy besides 3PTM.  Brandon Rush and Klay Thompson had bad nights which allowed Wright the opportunity for a good game.  Ekpe Udoh is a fantasy sleeper if you need a center down the stretch.  He will dominate in blocks, steals, and rebounds when he gets bigger minutes down the stretch.

Friday (2/3/12)

Cleveland Cavaliers 94 @ Orlando Magic 102

Cleveland:

  • Kyrie Irving (18 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Rebounds)
  • Anderson Varejao (12 Points, 15 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Antwan Jamison (16 Points, 12 Rebounds, 1 Block, 1 Steal)
  • Ramon Sessions (14 Points, 8 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 27 Minutes)
  • Alonzo Gee (20 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 3PTM, 30 Minutes)

Anderson Varejao had an excellent performance against Dwight Howard of all centers.  He looks to be the real deal, and is ready to enter the elites if he can keep up his pace.  Antwan Jamison had a nice game with no Tristan ThompsonKyrie Irving had an okay day, his owners are waiting for Ramon Sessions to get dealt.  Sessions is a great add if you are desperate for assists, especially if he gets traded to the Lakers.  Alonzo Gee was solid off the bench, a player worth keeping an eye on.

Orlando:

  • Dwight Howard (19 Points, 16 Rebounds, 8 Blocks)
  • Jason Richardson (19 Points, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 3 3PTM)
  • J.J. Reddick (0 Points)
  • Hedo Turkolgu (18 Points, 7 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 2 3PTM)
  • Ryan Anderson (17 Points, 8 Rebounds, 2 3PTM, 1 Block)
  • Chris Duhon (36 Minutes, 8 Points, 5 Assists)
  • Jameer Nelson (DNP)

Dwight Howard continues to dominate the game against every team in the NBA.  Jason Richardson had a big night which sent J.J. Reddick owners into the question of whether or not to drop him.  Ryan Anderson had a nice game, starting to show some consistency.  Same can be said about Hedo TurkolguChris Duhon is doing nothing to weaken Jameer Nelson’s already weakened fantasy value.

Miami Heat 99 @ Philadelphia 76ers 79

Miami:

  • Dwayne Wade (26 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 1 Steal)
  • Lebron James (19 Points, 12 Rebounds, 8 Assists, 2 Blocks)
  • Chris Bosh (12 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Assists)
  • Mario Chalmers (13 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 3PTM)

Chris Bosh is barely holding onto his high fantasy value.  Owners will be desperate to trade him which could make a really good Buy low situation if you can give up an Antwan Jamison type player.  Mario Chalmers continues to show some nights he will have good fantasy value.  Dwayne Wade and Lebron James both played like 1st round picks.

Philadelphia:

  • Andre Iguodala (10 Points, 7 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 1 3PTM)
  • Elton Brand (23 Minutes, 0 Points, 6 Rebounds, 2 Blocks)
  • Thaddues Young (27 Minutes, 16 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Jrue Holiday (11 Points, 7 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 35 Minutes)
  • Louis Williams (13 Points, 3 Assists, 29 Minutes)
  • Evan Turner (8 Points, 24 Minutes)
  • Jodie Meeks (13 Points, 3 3PTM, 25 Minutes)
  • Spender Hawes (DNP)

Andre Iguodala is getting numbers like this pretty consistently all season.  He is great if you want an all around player.  Elton Brand was outplayed by Thaddeus Young, this has been a common theme.  When Spencer Hawes returns Brand should have little to no value at all.  Louis Williams and Jodie Meeks led the way in scoring for the guards tonight.  Jrue Holiday was decent with 7 Assists, Evan Turner was horrible not even getting a rebound or an assist.

Washington Wizards 89 @ Toronto Raptors 106

Washington:

  • John Wall (15 Points, 5 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Javale McGee (8 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 18 Minutes)
  • Rashard Lewis (8 Points, 32 Minutes)
  • Nick Young (21 Points, 2 3PTM, 1 Steal, 1 Block)
  • Jordan Crawford (26 Minutes, 2 3PTM, 11 Points, 3 Assists, 1 Steal)
  • Trevor Booker (13 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 33 Minutes)

John Wall should have had a better game against Jose Calderon.  Javale McGee was facing foul trouble.  Rashard Lewis gets the minutes, the opportunity for a big game is there.  Nick Young is the star scorer on the team, while Jordan Crawford could be #2 off the bench.  Speaking of bench, Trevor Booker looks to be a decent add in all fantasy leagues.  More coming on him this weekend.

Toronto:

  • Jose Calderon (8 Points, 8 Rebounds, 17 Assists)
  • Jerryd Bayless (3 Points, 28 Minutes)
  • Leandro Barbosa (19 Points, 3 Steals, 2 Blocks)
  • Amir Johnson (18 Points, 13 Rebounds, 3 Blocks)
  • Ed Davis (8 Points, 4 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • DeMar DeRozan (11 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 Block, 28 Minutes)
  • James Johnson (13 Points, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 21 Minute)

Jose Calderon put up a spectacular game that will give him huge fantasy value for the moment.  Time to sell high!  As long as you get a quality player who will give you good production such as a Gerald Wallace or Chris Bosh.  Leandro Barbosa was great off the bench and that will help create a log jam at that guard spot with Jerryd BaylessDeMar DeRozan continues to be very mediocre, same for James Johnson who had such sleeper potential.  I still like him for his blocks and steals.  Ed Davis and Amir Johnson both came off the bench tonight, Amir Johnson proved that he is ready to be re-inserted in the starting 5.

Milwaukee Bucks 80 @ Detroit Pistons 88

Milwaukee:

  • Brandon Jennings (20 Points, 3 Steals, 1 Block, 7/19 FG, 3 3PTM)
  • Drew Gooden (23 Minutes, 4 Points, 4 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Ersan Illysova (21 Minutes, 9 Points, 12 Rebounds, 1 Block, 1 Steal)
  • Stephen Jackson (DNP)
  • Mike Dunleavy (7 Points, 25 Minutes)
  • Carlos Delfino (5 Points, 2 Rebounds, 34 Minutes)
  • Shaun Livingston (14 Points, 4 Rebounds, 1 Block, 25 Minutes)

This game was terrible to watch because the Bucks are in disarray.  Drew Gooden should have better nights, but Ersan Illysova is pushing him.  Brandon Jennings was outplayed by Brandon Knight.  Stephen Jackson needs to get traded.  Mike Dunleavy and Carlos Delfino continue to cancel each other out as Shaun Livingston continues to have minimal fantasy value as a starter.

Detroit:

  • Brandon Knight (26 Points, 7 Assists, 3 3PTM, 10/23 FG)
  • Rodney Stuckey (30 Minutes, 10 Points, 2 Steals, 4 Assists)
  • Greg Monroe (18 Points, 11 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Jason Maxiell (8 Points, 12 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 37 Minutes)
  • Tayshaun Prince (38 Minutes, 13 Points, 9 Rebounds, 3 Assists)
  • Austin Daye (11 Minutes, 4 Points, 2 Blocks, 2 Rebounds)

Brandon Knight had a great game, and has a lot to build off as the season continues as he outplayed Brandon Jennings.  Rodney Stuckey had a decent game but looks to lose value when Ben Gordon returns.  Greg Monroe has some competition for rebounds now that Jason Maxiell is starting and getting major minutes.  Keep an eye on this situation.  Tayshaun Prince gets all the minutes as Austin Daye sits on the bench and can only dream.  I would still hold onto Austin Daye, you all saw how explosive he could be.

Minnesota Timberwolves 108 @ New Jersey Nets 105

Minnesota:

  • Nikola Pekovic (27 Points, 11 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 34 Minutes)
  • Kevin Love (20 Points, 10 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 1 Block, 10/10 FT)
  • Ricky Rubio (10 Points, 10 Assists, 6 Steals, 1 Block, 2 3PTM)
  • Michael Beasley (10 Points, 4 Rebounds, 16 Minutes, 4/10 FG)
  • Luke Ridnour (33 Minutes, 9 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Derrick Williams (6 Minutes, 4 Points)

Nikola Pekovic who I have been saying since last week has Marcin Gortat potential.  He showed it tonight and is a must add in all leagues.  His rebounding could hurt Kevin Love, but for now enjoy the 20-10.  Ricky Rubio had an excellent game racking up the assists, steals, and a block.  Michael Beasley is a shooting machine, 2 Minutes Played= 1 FG Attempt, since his return.  Derrick Williams has been delegated to the bottom of the bench, while Luke Ridnour should be on the bottom of your fantasy bench if at all.

New Jersey:

  • Deron Williams (12 Points, 14 Assists, 2 Steals, 2 Blocks)
  • Anthony Morrow (42 Points, 8 3PTM)
  • Kris Humphries (16 Points, 9 Rebounds, 4 Blocks)
  • Jordan Farmar (14 Points, 7 Assists, 1 Steal, 30 Minutes)
  • MarShon Brooks (DNP)
  • Brook Lopez (DNP)

Anthony Morrow was a great BUY option, suggestion by SFD.  Read Trade Market hereKris Humphries is in his prime to sell high for a great player, maybe Mike Conley.  Humphries value will drop when Brook Lopez returns.  Jordan Farmar is a nice option off the bench, but he will lose some value when MarShon Brooks returns.  Deron Williams continues to play like a 1st round guard.

Memphis Grizzlies 94 @ Oklahoma City Thunder 101

Memphis:

  • Marc Gasol (24 Points, 8 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Rudy Gay (23 Points, 8 Rebounds, 9/20 FG, 1 3PTM, 1 Steal)
  • Mike Conley (11 Points, 3 Steals, 5 Assists, 2 3PTM)
  • Tony Allen (38 Minutes, 11 Points, 3 Steals, 5 Assists, 1 3PTM)
  • O.J. Mayo (13 Points, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 5/16 FG)
  • Zach Randolph (DNP)

Marc Gasol continues to be a fantasy beast.  I am worried about him losing value when Zach Randolph returns.  Mike Conley continues to do what he does best, Rudy Gay had another solid game and is looking to be a consistent star.  O.J. Mayo is an offensive threat, and he can co-exist with Tony Allen who is putting up his best fantasy season to date.

OKC:

  • Kevin Durant (36 Points, 10 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 2 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Russell Westbrook (21 Points, 7 Assists, 1 Block, 5 TO, 1 3PTM)
  • James Harden (24 Points, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 4 3PTM)
  • Serge Ibaka (7 Points, 7 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 1 Steal, 25 Minutes)

Kevin Durant was a superstar tonight, and another game like this will move him to #2 in the fantasy rankings ahead of Love.  I rather own Durant of the two right now.  Russell Westbrook continues to have turnover problems, besides that he is great.  James Harden was solid off the bench and gave a great fantasy performance.  Serge Ibaka did a lot of damage in 25 Minutes.

New York Knicks 89 @ Boston Celtics 91

New York:

  • Carmelo Anthony (8/17 FG, 26 Points, 6 Assists, 1 Block, 1 3PTM)
  • Amare Stoudemire (7/15 FG, 16 Points, 11 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Tyson Chandler (20 Points, 11 Rebounds, 4 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Landry Fields (11 Points, 3 Steals, 1 Block, 4 Assists, 1 3PTM)
  • Iman Shumpert (42 Minutes, 7 Points, 5 Assists, 1 Steal)
  • Baron Davis (DNP)
  • Toney Douglas (8 Minutes, 0 Points)

Carmelo Anthony continues to put up solid fantasy numbers like a super star.  Amare Stoudemire had back-to-back good games and will look to continue to build.  Tyson Chandler exploded for a huge performance as Boston had nobody that could stop him.  Landry Fields is good for games like this, while Iman Shumpert continues to do not much as the starting PG.  The Knicks need Baron Davis to lead this squad to some victories.

Boston:

  • Rajon Rondo (7 Points, 2 Steals, 7 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 35 Minutes)
  • Ray Allen (14 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Block, 3 3PTM)
  • Paul Pierce (30 Points, 7 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 4 3PTM)
  • Kevin Garnett (33 Minutes, 15 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 3PTM)
  • Brandon Bass (26 Minutes, 8 Points, 2 Blocks, 4 Rebounds)
  • Jermaine O’Neal (20 Minutes, 2 Points, 4 Rebounds, 1 Block)

Rajon Rondo returned to help lead Boston to a huge victory.  His fantasy value is safe moving forward.  Ray Allen was right back to doing what he does best.  Paul Pierce continues to be one of the hottest players in fantasy basketball.  If you trade him make sure you are getting a superstar in return.  Kevin Garnett is looking a lot younger while Jermaine O’Neal continues to rob him of center eligibility, and Brandon Bass of his fantasy value.

Phoenix Suns 81 @ Houston Rockets 99

Phoenix:

  • Steve Nash (6 Points, 2 3PTM, 9 Assists, 1 Steal, 25 Minutes)
  • Jared Dudley (15 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 3PTM, 3 Steals)
  • Marcin Gortat (15 Points, 12 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 2 Steals)
  • Channing Frye (4 Points, 2 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 17 Minutes)
  • Markieff Morris (19 Minutes, 7 Points, 4 Rebounds)
  • Grant Hill (23 Minutes, 7 Points, 3 Assists)

Steve Nash had a decent game despite getting limited minutes.  The points could have been higher.  Jared Dudley is 4/4 with good starts since being a starter.  He should be added in all leagues.  Marcin Gortat has been a great fantasy player with Phoenix.  Markieff Morris and Channing Frye are at a deadlock with Hakim Warrick a distant 3rdGrant Hill continues to put up bad numbers with okay minutes.

Houston:

  • Kyle Lowry (5 Points, 8 Rebounds, 9 Assists, 2 Steals, 24 Minutes)
  • Kevin Martin (16 Points, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM, 18 Minutes)
  • Samuel Dalembert (16 Minutes, 4 Points, 3 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Luis Scola (28 Minutes, 7/17 FG, 14 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Block)
  • Chase Budinger (12 Points, 10 Rebounds)
  • Chandler Parsons (10 Points, 5 Rebounds, 2 Blocks)
  • Courtney Lee (12 Points, 2 Steals)

Kyle Lowry looked to get his fantasy touch back in limited minutes.  Jason Kidd 2.0 is still in him.  Kevin Martin excelled in limited action, Samuel Dalembert was effected negatively by it.  Luis Scola had his best game in some time.  We will see if he continues his success.  Chandler Parsons, Chase Budinger, and Courntey Lee all cancel each other out in fantasy.

Indiana Pacers 98 @ Dallas Mavericks 87

Indiana:

  • Paul George (30 Points, 9 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 5 Steals, 1 Block, 7 3PTM)
  • Darren Collison (13 Points, 6 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 3PTM)
  • Roy Hibbert (9 Points, 14 Rebounds, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • David West (20 Points, 6 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Danny Granger (16 Points, 5 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 1 Block, 1 Steal, 3 3PTM)
  • Tyler Hansbrough (20 Minutes, 1 Point, 2 Rebounds)
  • George Hill (DNP)

Paul George had another breakout performance.  Games like this have come once in back-to-back weeks.  Is it time to get excited?  We will see either way it is hard to trade for him right now.  Danny Granger continues to put up all around good numbers even when he is not needed for huge scoring.  David West is starting to play a lot more consistently, which is cutting into Roy Hibberts point totals.  Tyler Hansbrough should be on waiver wires, and Darren Collison is starting to look like a decently good fantasy option, it helps George Hill is not playing.

Dallas Mavericks:

  • Dirk Nowitzki (12/17 FG, 30 Points, 7 Rebounds, 1 3PTM)
  • Shawn Marion (30 Minutes, 8 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals)
  • Vince Carter (30 Minutes, 14 Points, 5 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 Block)
  • Roddy B. (20 Minutes, 4 Points, 3 Rebounds)
  • Jason Terry (30 Minutes, 10 Points, 2 3PTM)
  • Delonte West (24 Minutes, 5 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 Assists)
  • Lamar Odom (20 Minutes, 1/7 FG, 6 Points, 6 Rebounds)
  • Brendan Haywood (6 Points, 6 Rebounds, 4 Blocks, 28 Minutes)
  • Jason Kidd (DNP)

Dirk Nowitzki had a breakout night.  Fantasy owners can remain hopeful this is the start of great things.  Shawn Marion put up decent numbers but you get a good idea of his value if Dirk is on.  Roddy B. has no fantasy value once Jason Kidd returns.  Jason Terry has little fantasy value as long as Delonte West and Vince Carter continue to perform.  Brendan Haywood had a nice garbage work game.  Lamar Odom is about to have no trade value and now would be a good time to move him as part of a package deal.

Los Angeles Lakers 93 @ Denver Nuggets 89

Los Angeles:

  • Kobe Bryant (20 Points, 9 Assists, 6 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 1 3PTM)
  • Andrew Bynum (22 Points, 10 Rebounds, 3 Blocks, 1 Steal)
  • Pau Gasol (13 Points, 17 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 1 Block)

Kobe Bryant continues to put up 1st round fantasy numbers every night.  Andrew Bynum proved why he is the #2 Center to own in fantasy basketball.  Pau Gasol had a solid night despite not scoring a lot of points.  As long as the Lakers are a three man fantasy team, all three players should have elite nights.

Denver Nuggets:

  • Ty Lawson (14 Points, 7 Assists, 1 Steal, 36 Minutes)
  • Aaron Afflalo (25 Minutes, 7 Points)
  • Andre Miller (30 Minutes, 16 Points, 7 Assists, 1 Block)
  • Nene Hilario (12 Points, 6 Rebounds, 1 Block, 1 Steal)
  • Al Harrington (24 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 3 3PTM)
  • Danilo Gallinari (29 Minutes, 1/9 FG, 6 Points, 5 Rebounds)

Ty Lawson shows that he still has a lot of fantasy upside left in his season.  Andre Miller is still getting starter minutes which is enough to start him in all fantasy leagues.  Nene put up another weak fantasy performance and Danilo Gallinari just disappointed.  Danilo left the game with blurriness but that just sounds like an excuse for a bad shooting night.  Al Harrington really picked up the slack and will always mix in a great game like this every now and then.

  1. Would giving Kyle Lowery for Dwade be a fair trade or too generous? Also, Kemba Walker versus Vince Carter, who is the better SG?

  2. I have been offered Deron Williams for David Lee and Carlos Boozer in a trade. Usually I would not even think of doing this trade but im thinking if I can trade Tony Parker for a Demarcus Cousins or someone of that caliber, then accept the D-Will trade, pickup Brook Lopez who is available in my league then I will in a sense have given up Tony Parker, David Lee and Carlos Boozer and replaced them with Deron Williams,Demarcus Cousins, and Brook Lopez, which I like…What do you think??

  3. Hey M,

    Quick thoughts on this trade:

    Give: T Parker & Deng
    Get: Lowry

Then pick up Daye to start until Manu gets back. Am I giving up enough for Lowry? The other owner will probably need to see what Deng can do before considering it. Im just worried Daye will be gone by then. Still unsuccessful in pulling off a 2 for 1 in this league. At what point do I drop Hawes for Daye? I’m growing impatient waiting for Hawes to get healthy, but I know for a fact that he won’t start until the day after I drop him.

  4. Hey M and SFD,

Someone is offering me Carmelo Anthony for Ricky Rubio in one of my leagues. I am hesitant to do this, because Carmelo has been terrible/injured lately and Rubio has been flirting with a triple double a lot. He is also my main source for assists. Here is my team…should I make that trade?

    Kyrie Irving
    Chauncey Billups

  5. If you could give up the struggling Kyle Lowry for the still 1st round value Dwayne Wade. Make that trade.

Kemba Walker has a lot more upside and is a lot safer of a fantasy option than Vince Carter. Although VC is red hot, Delonte West and Jason Terry are right there ready for his minutes. I do not expect Vince to keep up this pace for more than 2 weeks max.

If Kemba has a bad game, the Bobcats will still run him 30+ Minutes the next night as he is their future.

  6. Deron Williams, DeMarcus Cousins, Brook Lopez

    vs.

Tony Parker, David Lee, Carlos Boozer

I much rather have the Deron Williams package. You should pick up Brook Lopez regardless of any trade going down, as he is about 2 weeks away from returning and immediately being considered a top 10 fantasy center. I do not think you can get DeMarcus Cousins for Tony Parker to be honest, your looking more at Roy Hibbert at best. I would pull the trigger on the Deron Williams for David Lee and Boozer trade, then pick up Brook Lopez and your team will be fine from there. Assists are the hardest category to come by in fantasy.

Also you will quickly become a Nets fan more than you thought you ever would be.

  7. I was holding onto Drew Gooden released him, two days later Andrew Bogut breaks his ankle. That’s fantasy basketball for you.

Spencer Hawes is a somewhat safe fantasy option when healthy, however I would much rather own Austin Daye than him. For now try that trade, I do not think the Lowry owners will sell that low, Deng is way too questionable at the moment. You can hope he plays this week, and then that trade will be accepted. For now offer that, if Hawes is your worst player then you are risking a low-end starting center in fantasy for what could be a potential game changer for your entire team as Daye gets more and more playing time.

  8. Ricky Rubio has been great no doubt. But you have a chance to sell high for what would still be considered a first round pick in drafts that started today if Melo is healthy. As hard as it is to give up a huge assist man in Rubio, you gotta make the move as Melo would be the HUGE scoring punch your team is missing.

I look at your roster and Steph Curry is the only player I see that could get two 30+ Point games a week consistently. Adding Melo to your lineup will help you in the long run in the point department, and when Melo is on his game he will do a lot in other categories as well.

Melo has a lot to prove, and the Knick fans will make sure he gives them what they want!

  9. Interesting trade.

Shawn Marion is playing the best basketball since his Phoenix Sun days. You are giving up a good assist PG who is on his way down, if you feel Marion is the best you can get then make this trade. However a player like Marion is also due for a decline at somepoint this season.

I would try Carlos Boozer or Michael Beasley before settling with Marion.

  10. Ricky Rubio for Brandon Jennings be a solid trade? The Wade trade fell through, because the guy is practically in love with Miami… Anyway, is Ricky Rubio still solid every day, or would Jennings be a good investment in the long run?

  11. Thanks for the advice. I’m in an 8 category league and basically trying to use Deng to upgrade Parker or Calderon for another PG so I don’t lose too much in assists. This would free up a bench spot for me to stash Daye. I think my targeting Lowry is too ambitious. Think you could shoot me names of more realistic PGs I could target? I’m hoping a healthy Hawes will keep me competitive in blocks paired with Gortat. Another option would be to drop Roddy B for Daye. Ideally I’d like to have both stashed on my bench.

In head to head 8 category leagues, is the best strategy to build a team that dominates in five categories or is it best to always try to accumulate the most talent and let the stats fall where they may?

  12. Deal.

Brandon Jennings is the heart and soul of the Bucs every single night, especially now that Andrew Bogut is out for 2-3 Months. Stephen Jackson is also going to be traded soon which leaves Brandon Jennings as the only threat on that team to score 20+ Points a game consistently making his fantasy arrow head straight up. As much as I like Rubio and his assists, he still is not at Brandon Jennings fantasy level. You will be happy in the long run you made this deal.

  13. You could offer Parker and Deng in a combo trade for Ricky Rubio. However moving Luol Deng for any quality player at this time is not easy. Another option is Mike Conley Jr. He has been fantastic, but maybe his bad week last week will have his owner more willing to move him. Jrue Holiday, Andre Miller, and Ty Lawson are also potential targets you could acquire for this duo. Though you may be better off holding onto Parker than those players.

You can also package Deng and Calerdon for Rodney Stuckey who looks to have new life in Detroit with Ben Gordon out, and Brandon Knight not doing much at all. Though that seems like a stretch especially if Deng comes back this week.

All in all it is tough to move an injured player like Deng knowing that there could be some bad repercussions.

I feel your need to add Austin Daye, and long term Austin Daye will help your team way more than Roddy B. and that all of a sudden crowded back-court in Dallas with (Vince Cater/Jason Kidd/Jason Terry/Delonte West/). Hopefully you figure out a way to add Daye quickly before someone else pounces on him. He played 37 Minutes last night, if he plays 30+ again go ahead and make the move asap.

  14. I tried Boozer but he said no, so I proposed Calderon for Kevin Garnett to another team because the guy desperately needs assists and he took it. I am going to pick up Jerryd Bayless soon.

Thanks again for all the help!

  15. Any suggestions for my team going forward? Here’s what my team looks like as of tomorrow:

    PG Kyle Lowry
    SG Kemba Walker
G Steve Nash (questionable for tomorrow, but no other players playing)
    SF Kevin Durant
    PF Michael Beasley
    F Austin Daye
    C Macin Gortat
    Util James Harden
    Util Samuel Dalembert

Bench: (all of them are not playing tomorrow) Danilo Gallinari, Kobe Bryant, Josh Smith, Anderson Varejao, Andre Miller

My Lowry for D-Wade was rejected, and I also have a Nash for Curry trade posted, just waiting for a response now.

  16. Interesting move, I like it.

Hopefully Jermaine O’Neal goes down so KG can grab that center eligibility, 3 Games Played.

  17. Your team looks solid, I do not see any weakness. Anderson Varejao’s value is going way up in the eyes of many fantasy owners. If you could sneak a Roy Hibbert deal straight up, it would help you out in the long run.

  18. Hey Muntra

Awesome work, really impressed with the amount of time and knowledge you put into this amazing product. I wanted to suggest grouping all the reports, might be easier to navigate. Now you just see the latest posts, maybe you can group all the daily shows together, player updates together, etc.

My team is doing really well even with Brook Lopez and Ginobli on the bench. I want to pick up Bargs again, the news on espn said “he won’t play THIS WEEK” but I think he won’t play for much, much longer. Any thoughts? He would almost certainly be back by the time fantasy playoffs start, right?

Do Calderon and Okafor have some trade value left? I want to drop them both, but they keep producing just enough to keep me undecided.

  19. Hello Muntradamus and Sir Fantasy Drake,
I was wondering if you could give me an analysis of my current team, which is at the moment feared by some people in my league whom have stop trading with me for the time being.
Here is my best starting lineup:
PG Kyle Lowery ( I still have a little faith in)
SG Tyreke Evans (the man for the Kings)
SF LeBron James (a total stud)
PF Kevin Love ( amazing player, but could he lose value with Micheal Beasley in?)
C Dwight Howard (the best center in the game, but Orlando has been slacking lately…)
G Chris Paul (turning out to be a great guard pickup from a trade)
F LeMarcus Aldridge (most consistent player in the NBA)
UTIL Greg Monroe (a big man that takes control)
UTIL Drew Gooden ( great free agency pickup)
Util Danny Granger (a potential consistent fantasy option now?)
Bench: Kemba Walker (proving to be the right hand man for the Bobcats), Ricky Rubio ( is a great player, but I am worried that he could even more value?), Chris Bosh ( He is still a remarkable player in my mind, but Dwade could affect his worth, but some games do prove otherwise).
Furthermore here are some screenies of my team and others to give you a layout of our league:

Every other player not listed on teams above are in free agency. Should any of my players be considered for trading purposes for any strong players on the listed teams above. Thanks so much!!!!
    Kind Regards,
    Garrett

  20. uggg, consequently the screen shots didn’t come out…Any feedback would be incredible. I appreciate it!

  21. Thanks man,love the site.I went ahead and did the Boozer-Lee for Deron Williams deal and picked up Brook Lopez, however no one is biting on Tony Parker. My team now is way to guard heavy. Im in a 10category roto league, my team after the trade is;
PG: Deron Williams, Tony Parker, Jrue Holliday, Raymond Felton, Baron Davis(who i plan on dropping today.)
SG: Kobe Bryant, Stephen Jackson, Manu Ginolbli*
    SF: Stephen Jackson,and thats it.
    PF:Al Jefferson, Marcus Camby
    C: Marc Gasol, Brook Lopez

The guy I traded dropped Spencer Hawes to get the deal done, Im thinking of picking him up on waivers, and dropping Baron Davis to get either James Johnson,Austin Daye, or Hedo Turkgolu who are available. I want to hang on to S-Jax, but im not sure I can. Im thinking I can dump Davis today, see what happens with Jackson tonight, then potentially add Hawes, James Johnson and Turkgolu.

  22. What is it a 3team league?? You have 4 players that were selected in the 1st round of my draft!!

  23. When is it a good time to try to jump on players like JR Smith, Kenyon Martin or Wilson Chandler?

  24. Thank you for the feedback, I just recently started categorizing as far as tags go. So if you click Basketball Week 6, you will get all the articles for that week. I will make it article specific as well.

Calderon has some trade value left, as the Raptors look to him as the guy who runs their offense. But that will not last too long as the Raptors would be happy to move him for a piece in the future.

If Emeka Okafor has a bad game against Phoenix, and you want Bargs by the playoffs (he should return before that) then by all means make that move. You can also try to combo those two players in a deal for a high potential Austin Daye, or maybe even Dirk Nowitzki.

    Good Luck

  25. For the record.

Garrett has been one of the original followers of MaddenArena basketball since opening day. Keep up with the advice and the articles, and I will point you to trends before they happen.

Your team is great Garret, keep dominating and unless an injury occurs there is little reason to make any moves. You can set the countdown to your championship trophy. If you want to move Bosh, that is the only move I suggest as I think his value will decline very sharply at somepoint with Wade’s return. Make sure you get a great player in for Boshy, no worse than Brandon Jennings.

  26. Thank your Chris I appreciate the compliment.

Great trade, you definitely won in the long run. The long run will start in 2 weeks, and then go for the rest of the season.

You should drop Baron Davis and pickup Austin Daye who would be your starting SF. He is going to be a large part of the Pistons future, and they are figuring out ways to get him more playing time. I do like James Johnson too, however he is in a mini-slump so you can wait. Spencer Hawes will always be 3rd on your depth chart for center, I do not expect him to be consistent like he was to start the season. Hedo Turkolgu is a worst version of Andre Iguodala.

Hope that helps, and good luck.

  27. If you can get big Roy Hibbert for Anderson Varejao make that trade. A lot of nights Varejao will get less than double digit scoring. Hibbert is a consistent double-double threat, not a lot of centers in the East can guard him. Only contain him.

  28. Should I consider moving Kyle Lowry for someone like Kyrie Irving? I’m starting to get nervous about Lowry’s low production in recent games.

  29. I just traded Chris Bosh for Pau Gasol, whom could be a valuable asset to trade for Brandon Jennings, or kept as a more reliable PF, and Center. Do you believe Drew Gooden will continue to be such a beast?

  30. Wow I love this site!!! Great intellect!!!

I need some help, so I’m in a yahoo fantasy league involving 8 teams and we were allowed to have a total of 13 players (3 bench and 2 utilities spots) I’m trying to figure out who I should get ride of. Tell me what you think..

    I have:

(PG) Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Kyle Lowry, Ricky Rubio
(SG, SF) Gerald Henderson, MarShon Brooks
(SF, PF) Michael Beasley, Antawn Jamison
PF, C) Zach Randolph, Luis Scola
    (C) Samuel Dalembert, Marcus Camby, Elton Brand

    Available:

    (C) Brook, Lopez …. Promising right?
(PF,C) Drew Goodin… Will he able to keep the starting position since Andre Bogut is out?
    (PG) DJ Augustin…
    (PG, SG) Rodney Stuckey….
(SF,SG) Wilson Chandler… I heard he was coming back

I was thinking of hanging on to Gerald Henderson and MarShon Brooks but They keep getting re-injured so I don’t really know. Those are my only shooting guards. Advice please!!!

    Thanks!!!

  31. Hi Muntradamus and SFD,

Can you rate my team? It has been doing well in the past few weeks, but I had to drop Marshon brooks due to injury. I couldn’t find a suitable trade for Jose Calderon, so I dropped him too.

My problem is, I have Blake Griffin as my superstar, but I don’t have another “solid” player. I just have a bunch of role players now. Do you see any deficiencies with my team? Should I add someone in particular?

    G
    Jerryd Bayless
    Kyle Lowry
    Earl Watson
    Ricky Rubio

    SF
    Caron Butler
    Shawn Marion
    Austin Daye
    James Johnson
    Antawn Jamison

    PF/C
    JaVale McGee
    Udonis Haslem
    Ryan Anderson
    Al Harrington
    Ed Davis
    Tyrus Thomas
    Blake Griffin

  32. Lowry will be a vital part to a lot of championship teams, but I can see why owners would be nervous. If you like Irving’s upside as he should get more minutes as the season rolls on then you can make this trade. You will miss those assists and intangibles however.

  33. Drew Gooden needs to be a beast in order to save his season and career. There is no doubt he is an offensively talented player, and this is his first opportunity in a long time to show off some of his skills. In college Gooden dominated as a Junior before showing some potential in his freshman and sophomore year, now as a veteran in the NBA we are starting to see his vintage-self.

  34. Thank you Shaun for the compliments.

You need to pick up both Brook Lopez and Drew Gooden.

Both players could be huge impact players in your lineup. The players I would drop are Gerald Henderson and Elton Brand. Brand will be far less valuable when Spencer Hawes returns. Drew Gooden has much better value now and in the long term. Henderson is inconsistent, and when D.J. Augustin comes back it will be hard to own him.

If Steph Curry does not qualify at SG and you need a starter at that position, actively trade Kyle Lowry for someone that could be your man at that position. Settle with anyone from Tyreke Evans to Joe Johnson.

    Good Luck

  35. Your G situation will be fine in the long run. Rubio should continue to rack up dimes, and Lowry should find his vintage-self. Bayless has a lot of potential for more minutes, and the same goes for Watson. You should be able to dominate assists every week.

Your SF situation is fine Jamison/Butler/Marion are all fine options for now, while I expect James Johnson and Austin Daye to explode to must-start players at somepoint this season.

PF/C you have a lot of high potential guys in, McGee/Davis/Thomas. Eventually they will all be safe-starts, Blake Griffin is your star while Ryan Anderson is a great player to own. Al Harrington is not a big piece of your puzzle, and I would try to trade him along with one of the following )Jamison/Butler/Marion) for a big time scorer such as Joe Johnson.

You lack a big scorer after Griffin and Joe Johnson seems like a good fit for your team.

You can waive Udonis Haslem if there is a Free Agent you like. He has zero value.

  36. My Nash for Curry trade was rejected. I need field goals made and points. Who should I target if I trade Lowry? I need a power forward. I also have Al Harrington on my watch list because he is on waivers. I was also able to get Roy Hibbert for Stephen Jackson and Austin Daye in a trade I didn’t think would go through.

  37. Thanks so much for the feedback. I have really depended on you guys this season, and so far you have been very helpful…so thanks.

One thing though, Joe Johnson seems to be very inconsistent. Is it worth pursuing him? He scores 20-30 points on a few nights, then scores 10 on other nights.

  38. Hello Muntradamus,
I apologize for multiple posts, but I have hit an important opportunity to quite possibly make my team even better… For some weird reason, I found Michael Beasley on the free agency after someone dropped him… Anyway, should I pick him up in place of another one of my great players? Also, Will Tyreke Evans lose value since Marcus Thornton came back tonight?
Here is my best starting lineup:
    PG Kyle Lowery
    SG Tyreke Evans
    SF LeBron James
    PF Kevin Love
    C Dwight Howard
    G Chris Paul
    F LeMarcus Aldridge
    UTIL Greg Monroe
    UTIL Drew Gooden
    Util Danny Granger
Bench: Kemba Walker, Ricky Rubio, Pau Gasol
    Thanks so much,
    Garrett

  39. If you are looking to get rid of Lowry and you need a Forward, do not settle for anything less than Paul Millsap. I would first try to go after Danny Granger or Rudy Gay. Great trade acquiring Roy Hibbert, he is an excellent consistent center to own. As long as David West does not drastically change his role Hibbert will be gold.

  40. Thank you Sarah.

If you read what I wrote about Joe Johnson regarding Thursday nights game, you will feel more confident about him.

  41. Tyreke Evans was wildly inconsistent to start the season when Thornton was healthy, and I expect that situation to occur again. You can still sell high on Tyreke while you have the chance.

Michael Beasley is a great player, and I see no player on your roster worth dropping. So you can leave him for the other owners.

    Keep posting away.

  42. Thanks Muntradamus! Your Awesome!

But… I’ve come to bother you about one more thing… So I dropped Gerald Henderson for Drew Gooden. I’ll drop Elton Brand after his game today and pick up Brook Lopez. But as far as Shooting guards go, I now only have one. That’s the (SG/SF) MarShon Brooks. Nobody is willing to trade me because they’re comfortable with who they have. Tyreke Evans and Joe Johnson are no no’s.

The only options I have are
    (SG/SF) Tony Allen
    (SG/SF) Landry Fields
    (PG/SG) Jamal Crawford
    (PG/SG) Louis Williams
    (PG/SG) Kemba Walker
    (PG/SG) Jerryd Bayless
    (SG) Arron Afflalo

What do you think I should do? Drop MarShon Brooks and Antawn Jamison seeming that they are both injured? If I could at least grab two solid SG’s (especially one that can play SF position to replace Jamison, unless you oppose it) I would be happy. I would love to pick MarShon back up once he’s healthy. The player is great.

Ahhhh I’m stuck again… What do you think?

    Thanks.

  43. Thanks, would tyreke evans with Kemba Walker for John Wall and Jason Terry be a solid trade?

  44. What if the teams that have Gay, Millsap, and Granger refuse to trade those players? Then who should I target?

  45. Wiz is spot on.

Kemba will get guaranteed big minutes every night and with Henderson hurt he will have to shoot the ball at will. He should not be a FA in the first place. You can drop MarShon Brooks for him who still has no timetable to return.

Keep Antwan Jamison and see if he can bounce back from his funk. The Cavs need him to.

  46. Not a bad trade.

Tyreke is a little worst than John Wall who both at times can be very inconsistent. Though Wall has what it takes to be a fantasy superstar and has no competition on his team for that spot.

Kemba however has remarkably higher trade value than Jason Terry now that Gerald Henderson is out. Kemba should not be given away for a normal role player, his fantasy value is just about to pick up to a different level. While Terry has to compete with Roddy B./Vince Carter/Delonte West.

Try either getting a better player than Terry or offering less than Kemba.

  47. Try:

    David Lee
    Amar’e Stoudemire
    Chris Bosh
    Joe Johnson

At this point you might as well wait and see if Lowry can bounce back. Reports are he is confident with his shot again.

  48. my 10 team draft in the 1st round went lebron #1, chrs paul #2, dwight howard #5, kevin love # 7, so congrats on having probably the greatest draft in fantasy basketball history…

  49. Hey Muntra

Can you elaborate a little on Nikola Pekovic and Jared Dudley? I don’t have a lot of room on my teams, I was wondering where you would rank them compared to some low tier players I own like Okafor, Ibaka, A Jamison, Al Harrington type players. Also if you have any other “must add” players like Gooden and Daye could you please list them?

Second thing – you have said in several articles “in leagues starting today.” Can you point me to some free sites that have this? I only know of ESPN, Yahoo and CBS, and of those only CBS seems to still have new leagues starting.

Thanks! Seriously your rock and this site has given so much interest in Fantasy Basketball its crazy

  50. I have 2 spots free on one of my teams. FA includes Paul george, grevis vasquez, gordon hawyard, trevor booker, pekovic, crawford, oj mayo + tony allen (cancel out), roddy b

i think i will take paul george and gordon hayward… this is a h2h league based on scoring so percentages, steals and blocks dont matter too much – what would u do?

  51. Do you believe, at the current moment, that Anderson Varejao is better than Greg Monroe, or Pau Gasol? Is he worth trading for? Also, do you believe Greg Monroe would be a solid trade for Andrew Bynum?

  52. I am trying to pick up Manu Ginobli for the long run. are any of these players worth dropping to do so?

    Deron Williams
    Jose Calderon
    Steph Curry
    Wes Matthews
    Caron Butler
    Dorrell Wright
    Andre Igoudala
    Al Harrington
    Al Jefferson
    Sam Dalembert
    Sege Ibaka
    Andrew Bynum
    Marcin Gortat

Any other advice for my team…players I should try and trade/ players to try and trade for?

  53. I would take Vasquez or Crawford over Haywayd.

Hayward has never shown over a long period of time that he is a consistent fantasy option. If he was playing this well for back-to-back-to-back weeks. I would add him.

  54. Bynum,Monroe,Gasol>Varejao

I still would rank the elite more talented centers ahead of Varejao. The way I look at Anderson, he is an excellent #2 Fantasy Center to own. All of those guys you mentioned are #1 quality centers.

Both Bynum and Monroe are going to put up similar #’s this season. If I had to choose one I would prefer Bynum because the Lakers are going to be a competitive team in most games, and the Lakers only run 3 deep as far as fantasy standards go.

  55. Your team has no players that I would drop without a doubt.

But if I had to pick one it would be Wesley Matthews. His fantasy potential is not that high with how deep of a squad the Blazers run with.

Manu would be a great fit on your team, and I see him as a definite upgrade over Matthews.

Another option is to drop Al Harrington, but he has the potential for a breakout game every night.

Besides that your team looks good, I would sell Jose Calderon the first chance I have.

  56. Hay I’m back! I need an opinion from you since you were so helpful last time. So I have until March to get my team set up then I won’t be able to do anymore trades or add/drops. I have:

(PG) Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Kyle Lowry, Ricky Rubio
(SG, SF) Anthony Morrow, Kemba Walker
(SF, PF) Michael Beasley, Antawn Jamison
PF, C) injured Zach Randolph, Luis Scola, Drew Gooden
    (C) injured Brook Lopez, Marcus Camby

I was thinking about dropping Anthony Morrow, Kemba Walker, and Marcus Camby for:
PG/SG Mo Williams since Billups is gone,
PG/SG Jamal Crawford since Felton isn’t doing hot,
PF/C Channing Frye since he’s getting minutes now… not much of a defensive player though right?

Other options for gaurds I have available are PG/SG Ramon Sessions, PG/SG Louis Williams, and SG/SF MarShon Brooks (limited game time)

What do you think boss man? Keep Camby because he’s a better defender? Trade for Mo Williams since Billups is out? I’m stuck again…

  57. I think you should keep Camby but as far as your guards go you should check up on the cocky JR Smith. Him and Wilson Chandler are coming back.

If your thinking about winning in your league Stephen Curry, MarShon Brooks and Brook Lopez might not be a good option because there teams might not even make the playoffs. You want players from winning teams.

http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds <<< check this link out for playoff percentage. New Jersey and Golden State have low success rate.

I've been checking this site lately so I think Muntradamus might have better input.

P.S. Don't get Louis Williams because he misses alot. Still put's up good numbers but I think Mo Williams would be a better pick for one of your guards. MarShon would be nice but that's a gamble.

  58. All great points Rob.

However I would definitely drop the aging Camby for Channing Frye. Frye does get surprisingly good steal and block numbers. But the reason you are getting him is for his 3PTM and Points. I think that is a huge upgrade as Camby is no lock to stay healthy the whole year.

I would also drop Anthony Morrow for Jamal Crawford. I like Crawford a lot as a player, he knows how to score, and this season he is racking up some good assist numbers. Anthony Morrow will see a lot less consistency once the Nets get to 100% healthy.

As tempting as it is to drop Kemba Walker for Mo Williams, I would not make this move. Once the Bobcats are eliminated they will run Kemba 35+ Minutes every night, and by then he should feel like a seasoned veteran with all the playing time he has received as a rookie. Mo still has to compete with Randy Foye and the soon returning Eric Bledsoe.

Lou Williams does miss a lot of shots, but he also leads his team in scoring. At some point they will have to give Evan Turner more playing time which will effect Lou. I would say pick up Ramon Sessions as he should get traded to a contender with a lot of minutes, but not if you can’t add/drop the rest of the season. That is not worth the risk.

    Good Luck
