Tuesday (2/7/12)

Guards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1.Russell Westbrook @ Golden State- Westbrook will need to have a big game against the much smaller guards in Golden State.  It could be his night to shine.

2. Dwayne Wade vs. Cleveland- Wade should be able to dominate Cleveland and score whenever he wants.  The problem will be that he will not get a lot of minutes in the second half if this is a blowout.

3. Stephen Curry vs. OKC- Steph could play like a 1st round pick, or he could be bothered by his foot and give you an okay performance.  Either way you have to play Curry when he plays.

4. Brandon Jennings vs. Phoenix- Jennings should have a monster performance if the Bucks can look like a legitimate offense.

5. Rajon Rondo vs. Charlotte- Rondo will get everyone involved, but there is an excellent chance this one is a blowout which means little minutes in the second half.

Tier 2- Good Start

6. Monta Ellis vs. OKC- Monta is due for a good game, but the matchup is not an easy one.  Expect him to try to find his groove.

7. Tyreke Evans @ Minnesota- Tyreke the freak is losing some consistency with Marcus Thornton back.  Does not mean he cannot explode for a big one.

8. Steven Nash @ Milwaukee- Nash is playing great basketball and should be one of the safer players going into tonight.  Though you never know with a guy his age how he is going to react to a back-to-back game.

9. Ricy Rubio vs. Sac- Rubio has been getting a lot of steals to add to his assist numbers.  If he keeps it up he can inch higher into the elite level.

10. Kyrie Irving @ Miami- Kyrie will need to have a big game, but if he doesn’t expect no production in the second half of a blowout.

Tier 3- Risky Start

11. Marcus Thornton @ Minnesota- Inconsistent, yes.  Scoring over 20 Points in game, that is likely as well.

12. James Harden @ Golden State- Harden will get around his 20 Points, anything else is a bonus.

13. Kemba Walker @ Boston- Kemba is the team tonight for Boston, but it could be a blowout with a game that leaves Kemba with few opportunities.

14. Ray Allen vs. Charlotte- Allen will give you some 3PTM and that is about it.

15. Paul George vs. Utah- He will get the minutes, but you cannot expect the huge outbursts of a 30 point performance.  Though it would be nice if it happened.

16. Darren Collison vs. Utah- D.Coll is not a consistent fantasy option, but with no George Hill you have to expect some production.

17. Reggie Williams vs. Boston- Fantasy Waiver wire watch will be on this guy for sure.

Forwards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Lebron James vs. Cleveland- LBJ against his former team in Miami.  He should be ready to explode for a monster performance, but expecting 4th quarter production may not happen if this game gets out of hand.

2. Kevin Durant @ Golden State- K. Dirty is red hot and is now playing against a Golden State team that has nobody that can really stop him.  I expect Durant to explode even against a tough Warriors defense.

3. DeMarcus Cousins @ Minnesota- Cousins is on fire lately, and his own enemy is himself and getting into foul trouble.

4. Paul Pierce @ Charlotte- Pierce and the Celtics will blowout the Bobcats leaving very little production for the second half.

5. Paul Millsap @ Indiana- Millsap is not the same beast when Al Jefferson is playing, and tonight the matchup is not an easy one.

6. Danny Granger vs. Utah- Granger is the most solid Pacer on his team, which makes him a safe start in a matchup where if they do not put Josh Howard on the court often.  Granger will go off.

Tier 2- Good Start

7. David Lee vs. OKC- Lee has a tough matchup, but at the end of the night you expect a double-double.

8. Chris Bosh vs. Cleveland- Bosh has been very inconsistent as of late, but you never know when he will explode for a big game.  Very little playing time projected in the second half will not help.

Tier 3- Risky Start

9. Michael Beasley vs. Sac- With no Kevin Love expect Beasley to potentially play a huge role.

10. Kevin Garnett @ Charlotte- KG will not get many minutes in the second half if this game is a blowout.

11. Channing Frye @ Milwaukee- Frye is their guy, as long as he continues to make shots.  He has not been consistent all season.

12. Drew Gooden vs. Phoenix- Gooden should have his way down low, though the potential clunker is always a possibility.

13. Antwan Jamison @ Miami- Tickle the twan has been semi-hot recently, and he has to have a big game to keep the Cavs competitive.

14. Dorrell Wright vs. OKC- Wright has been shooting better as of late, but you can’t expect more than a few 3PTM.

15. Bismack Biyombo vs. Boston- All eyes will be on the rookie to see if he can have a big game.  More importantly people will be hoping he starts.

Centers:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Al Jefferson @ Indiana- Jefferson is maybe the most solid scorer of all centers in the NBA not named Dwight Howard.

2. Marcin Gortat @ Milwaukee- Gortat is coming off one of his worst games, but should be able to dominate Milwaukee down low.

3. Anderson Varejao @ Miami- Varejao has been a fantasy beast, and Miami does not really have an answer for the aggressive Brazilian.

Tier 2- Good Start

4. Roy Hibbert vs. Utah- Hibbert is going to be the tallest guy on the court, but the offensive weapons are everywhere now for Indiana.

5. Nikola Pekovic vs. Sacramento- With no Kevin Love, Pekovic will be asked to have a huge game.  He should deliver which will solidify him as a must-own center in all fantasy leagues.  Marcin Gortat 2.0.

Wednesday (2/8/12)

Guards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Deron Williams vs. Det- D.Will should be able to do whatever he wants against Detroit.

2. Dwayne Wade @ Orl- Wade is coming off a big game last night, and will look to build for an elite game.

3. Chris Paul @ Cle- CP3 will only be great if this game remains close.  The Clippers are a great road team, but it is life without Billups.

4. Derrick Rose @ NO- Bucket full of roses is a game-time call.  Either way the Bulls should rock the Hornets tonight.

Tier 2- Good Start

5. Kyle Lowry @ Por- Lowry has a tough matchup, but he is good enough to put up great numbers in this one.

6. John Wall @ NY- Wall is coming off a great game and now faces a team that does not have anyone that can stop him.  Iman Shumpert will try, but chances are Wall is too quick.

7. Ricky Rubio @ Mem- Rubio is stealing the ball at a crazy rate to go with his elite assist numbers.

8. Tony Parker @ Phi- Parker has a tough matchup, but he is coming off player of the week honors.  He is hot.

9. Brandon Jennings @ Tor- Jennings has been a weird fantasy play as of late, and he is a bit too risky at this stage.  I would buy low on him.

10. Andre Iguodala vs. SA- Mr. Almost 3×2 will need to have a big statement game tonight.

11. Kyrie Irving vs. LAC- Kyrie vs. CP3 will be a good matchup.  Kyrie needs to do all he can to keep Cleveland in this one.

12. Joe Johnson vs. IND- J.J. needs to score 20+ Points to help the Hawks guarantee a win.

Tier 3- Risky Start

13. Mike Conley vs. Min- Conley is coming off a good game, but he has been inconsistent as of late.

14. Jeremy Lin @ Was- This guy is too hot to ignore, and without Melo and Amare it’s his team.

15. Ty Lawson vs. Dal- Lawson has been getting the PT, but the results are not what his owners would expect.

16. Kevin Martin @ Por- I want to see Kev Mart have a big game before deciding he is a safe play again.  He has been a streaky player this season, and now he is on a bad streak.

17. Paul George @ ATL- George is starting to break out, and by the end of the night he fills the stat sheet.

18. Greivis Vasquez vs. Chi- Vasquez has been a great fantasy option as of late.  Chicago is a tough defense but as long as Jack doesn’t play Vasquez should get his.

19. Nick Young vs. NY- One of the most consistent underrated fantasy players in today’s game.

20. Darren Collison @ ATL- Collison had a great game similar to what he did last week.  Last week he did not continue his surge, let’s see this week is a different story.

21. Brandon Knight @ NJ- Knight is the moneyman for Detroit, though Deron Williams presents a tough matchup.

22. Jrue Holiday vs. SA- Jrue has a tough matchup but he gets the minutes every night.  One of these days he will break out.

23. Jerryd Bayless vs. Mil- Coming off a 30 Point performance Bayless has all the confidence in the world.  Toronto wants to see him keep scoring.

24. C.J. Watson @ NO- If Derrick Rose can’t go C.J. Watson is a great sleeper pick.

25. O.J. Mayo vs. Min- Mayo is playing well and should have his way against the tiny Timberwolves guards.

26. Anthony Morrow vs. Det- Morrow should be good for 20 every night as long as this Nets lineup remains beat up.

27. Louis Williams vs. SA- Lou is a scorer, and if he doesn’t score against a tough Spurs defense then he is worthless.

28. Jose Calderon vs. Mil- Calderon is at the bottom of his fantasy value, but he can always surprise you with double digit assists.

29. Jamal Crawford vs. Hou- Raymond Felton should return tonight, however Crawford is proving that he is the best guard on this team, and his fantasy value will remain high with his elite offensive tools.

30. Raymond Felton vs. Hou- Should return tonight, but it is hard to expect anything more than double digit assists, and low-end scoring.  Even that sounds like a stretch at times.

31. Rodney Stuckey @ NJ- Time to step his game up as he is free-falling down the rankings with little production while Ben Gordon is out.

Forwards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Lebron James @ Orl- LBJ is the #1 option every night in fantasy basketball.

2. Blake Griffin @ Cle- Super Blake should dominate a Cleveland team that has no answer for the superstar.

3. LaMarcus Aldridge vs. Hou- Aldridge is one the most consistent stars in fantasy basketball.

Tier 2- Good Start

4. Kris Humphries vs. Det- Humphries should have a monster game with the depleted Nets and playing against a team that will miss a lot of shots.  One of the safer options tonight.

5. Josh Smith @ Ind- Smith hasn’t been elite lately, but he can turn it on any night.

6. Danny Granger @ ATL- Granger is going through a cold spell.  He is always capable of 20+ Points with good numbers all around.

7. Rudy Gay vs. Min- Gay is playing great basketball as of late and should dominate a team that has nobody that can stop him.

8. Dirk Nowitzki @ Den- Dirk has had back-to-back good games, one more and we will consider him safe for now.

9. Chris Bosh @ Orl- Bosh is on his way down, but he can surprise you with a 20-10 performance when you least expect it.

10. Antwan Jamison vs. LAC- Jamison is playing the best basketball of his career, you should trade him before it’s too late.

11. Tim Duncan @ Phi- Ducan has found his fountain of youth.  He will need to have a big night for a Spurs win.

12. Carlos Boozer @ NO- Booz is a little shaky now that Deng is back and being a big part of this offense.  He should be good for double-double numbers.

13. Drew Gooden @ Tor- Gooden should dominate a team that lacks a good big man.

14. Luol Deng @ NO- Deng is hot and will look to continue his success.  Sometimes the second option, sometimes the fourth.

15. Ryan Anderson vs. Mia- Anderson needs to show some consistency and step up in big games like tonight.

16. Michael Beasley @ Mem- Beasley is a fantasy beast when Kevin Love is out.  The shot attempts come in bunches.

Tier 3- Risky Start

17. Luis Scola @ Por- Scola is playing his best basketball this season.  Tonight is a big test to see if he can go 4/4 on the road in Portland.

18. Gerald Wallace vs. Hou- Wallace has been inconsistent, but we all know he can breakout at any night.  When that happens I would sell high.

19. Caron Butler @ Cle- Butler has been a bit inconsistent, but the 3PTM and steals are expected.

20. Tayshaun Prince @ Ind- Prince has been getting a lot of playing time and is the leader of this squad.

21. Trevor Booker @ NY- Booker could dominate down low as the thickest guy on the court.

22. David West @ ATL- Not enough shots to go around to keep David West fantasy owners happy.

23. Shawn Marion @ Den- Marion is on his way down with Dirk on his way up.  Tonight will either change that, or show it is true.

24. Al Harrington vs. Dal- Harrington can explode for the huge game, but with Nene back he will have to make the most of the opportunities he gets.

25. Chris Kaman vs. Chi- Kaman is back and is the best low-post threat the Hornets have.  Tough matchup.

26. Trevor Ariza vs. Chi- Ariza is very incosnsitent as is, and the time to trade him is now.

27. Linas Kleiza vs. Mil- Can he have a repeat monster performance.  All fantasy basketball eyes will be on him.

28. Nicolas Batum vs. Hou- Batum is a great bench player for the Blazers, and for your fantasy basketball roster.

29. James Johnson vs. Mil- You can only hope Mr.Block Party aka Gerald Wallace 2.0 bounces back.

Centers:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Dwight Howard vs. Mia- D12 against Miami’s big three.  Should be a matchup where he is motivated to dominate.

2. Greg Monroe @ NJ- NJ is the worst team in the NBA defending the big man.

3. Marc Gasol vs. Min- Gasol is experiencing his last days with elite fantasy value.

4. Anderson Varejao vs. LAC- Varejao has a tough matchup against Jordan.  I never ranked him this high on such a busy night, hopefully he proves his worth.

Tier 2- Good Start

5. Nikola Pekovic @ Mem- Nikola is playing amazing basketball, and will look to continue to be the catalyst down low while Love sits.

6. Tyson Chandler @ Was- Chandler will need to be more involved in the offense now that Amare and Melo are out.

7. Roy Hibbert @ ATL- Hibbert is playing great and should dominate Zaza.  FG attempts are a bit of a concern.

8. Joakim Noah @ NO- Noah has been inconsistent but a double-double is expected.

9. Marcus Camby vs. Hou- The Cambyman has been a block and rebound machine.  If Dalembert is not on the court, Camby will have a big night.

10. Javale McGee @ NY- McGee has been inconsistent, but he will need a big night to keep the Wiz competitive.

11. DeAndre Jordan @ Cle- Jordan’s value is going up and tonight is a good night to rack up some rebounds.

12. Nene Hilario vs. Dal- Nene is healthy and has been playing horrible as of late.  Not a bad matchup to have a big game.

13. Emeka Okafor vs. Chi- Okafor is coming off his first good game in a while.  Chicago is tough, Emeka at times is as well.

Tier 3- Risky Start

14. Samuel Dalembert @ Por- The minutes are on his way down, but tonight is night he can step up and be a star for the team again.

15. Zaza Pachulia vs. Ind- If he gets a double-double then you got a good night out of Zaza.

———————————————————————————————————————

Thursday (2/9/12)

Guards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Kobe Bryant @ Bos- Kobe will want to put on a show knowing that everyone will be tuning into this legendary matchup.

2. Russell Westbrook @ Sac- Westbrook usually puts up an all-around great fantasy game.  The turnovers come with it.

3. Monta Ellis @ Den- Monta is coming off a 48 Point performance.  Anything less than 30 would be considered a disappointment.

4. Stephen Curry @ Den- Steph is playing well, and you can expect a high scoring game against Denver.

5. Rajon Rondo vs. LAL- Rondo has a huge advantage as no Laker guard can stick with him.  Double digit assists are bound to happen tonight, it would be nice if he can score in double digits more consistently.

Tier 2- Good Start

6. Steve Nash vs. Hou- Nash is as consistent as they come at the PG spot.  He will rack up the assists, and the points have been coming lately as well.

*7. Kyle Lowry @ Phx- Game-Time decision.  If he plays expect great numbers against a weak Suns team.

8. Tyreke Evans @ OKC- Always has the risk for a bad game when Marcus Thornton is healthy.

9. Ty Lawson vs. GS- With no Danilo, I expect Ty to be a huge fantasy contributor.

10. James Harden @ Sac- 20 Points off the bench is what you expect.  Anything more would be great.

Tier 3- Risky Start

11. Andre Miller vs. GS- The veteran should see his 30 Minutes and do his usual damage in the assist department.

12. Marcus Thornton vs. OKC- 20+ Points could happen tonight as someone needs to match Durant and Westbrook point for point.

13. Ray Allen vs. LAL- Big game, he could disappear as Paul Pierce and KG are playing at an elite level right now.

14. Kevin Martin @ Pho- Ice cold shooter lately.  It’s hard to trust him, but he is a more than capable scorer.

15. Jared Dudley vs. Hou- 4/5 in good starts since his promotion back to the lineup.  Should be productive against a semi-decent Rockets team.

Forwards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Kevin Durant @ Sac- Maybe the hottest player in the NBA scoring 30+ Point in 5 of the last 7 games.

2. Paul Pierce vs. LAL- Pierce was player of the week last week, and always puts up big games against the Lakers.

3. David Lee @ Den- Lee is coming off a 3×2, and now plays a team that cannot match his speed and agility.

4. DeMarcus Cousins vs. OKC- As long as he stays out of foul trouble, Cousins should be productive.  Tough matchup vs. Perkins and Ibaka.

Tier 2- Good Start

5. Kevin Garnett vs. LAL- The fountain of youth has propelled KG to newer heights.  He is playing like his vintage form.

Tier 3- Risky Start

6. Al Harrington vs. GS- With the depleted Nuggets, Harrington gets more and more chances.

7. Luis Scola vs. Phx- Scola is coming off a rough game in Portland.  Besides that he is red hot and the Suns do not bring a big threat to slow him down.

8. Serge Ibaka @ Sac- Inconsistency is a problem, but he can rack up the blocks quickly.

9. Dorrell Wright @ Den- He can go off any night, but lately he has been playing very mediocre.

10. Channing Frye vs. Hou- The Suns need him to be their man consistently.  Tonight is a big test for Frye to see if he can do it back-to-back.

Centers:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Andrew Bynum @ Bos- Bynum is finally scoring 20+ Points consistently, and nobody on Boston can slow down this big man.

2. Pau Gasol @ Bos- Pau will continue to put up big lines as long as the Lakers remain a three man fantasy team.  He has struggled in big games.

3. Marcin Gortat vs. Hou- If Dalembert is a non-factor in this one, Gortat should have a huge game.

4. Nene Hilario vs. GS- Nobody on the Warriors can body up with Nene who should be a big part of the gameplan tonight.

Tier 2- Good Start

Tier 3- Risky Start

5. Samuel Dalembert @ Phx- Hopefully he gets his game back together soon.  I will be watching Jordan Hill tonight closely.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Friday (2/10/12)

Guards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Kobe Bryant @ NY- Kobe always puts up a show in MSG.  Expect nothing different tonight.

2. Deron Williams @ Det- Deron is playing like an elite PG and his value is only going to go higher when Lopez returns.

3. Chris Paul @ Phi- CP3 usually puts up huge numbers in competitive games.  Tonight should be a competitive game.

4. Russell Westbrook @ Uta- Westbrook should dominate the Jazz back court.  Too explosive.

5. Dwayne Wade @ Was- Wade is starting to put together a nice hot streak.  Tonight however he will have trouble getting playing time in the 2nd half because of the blowout.

6. Derrick Rose @ Cha- Blowout situation, with a bad back.  I do not expect much.

Tier 2- Good Start

7. John Wall vs. Mia- Wall-Mania will do what he can to keep the Wizards from getting blown out.

8. Rajon Rondo @ Tor- Rondo will rack up dimes and steals.  He needs a monster performance in the worst way.

9. Jeremy Lin vs. LAL- Lin City now has the chance to show off what he’s got on the big stage.

10. Ricky Rubio vs. Dal- Rubio is an assist/steal machine.  With Love he can bounce back from a poor game.

11. Joe Johnson @ Orl- The Hawks are 12-1 when Joe scores 20 or more in a game.

12. Andre Iguodala vs. LAC- Mr. Almost 3×2 will need to lead his team tonight.

13. Brandon Jennings @ Cle- Coldest star in the NBA right now.  I wouldn’t trust him if I had better options.  Eventually he will get back to his scoring ways.

14. Ramon Sessions vs. Mil- No Kyrie for the weekend means Ramon Sessions will get all the chances in the world to dominate.

15. Mike Conley vs. Ind- The speedster will rack up assists/steals/3PTM.  His value has gone down a bit, but it should bounce back soon.

16. James Harden @ Uta- 20 off the bench is what you hope for, anything more is a bonus.

Tier 3- Risky Start

17. Jrue Holiday vs. LAC- Jrue is a big game away from becoming the most talked about fantasy player.

18. Paul George @ Mem- The consistency is not there, but the potential is.

19. Greivis Vasquez vs. Por- Greivis gets another chance for a big night with Jarrett Jack out again.

20. Darren Collison @ Mem- No George Hill makes Collison a good start.

21. Jose Calderon vs. Bos- Calderon will look to rack up assists.  His value is going down.

22. Kemba Walker vs. Chi- Kemba is the only fantasy worthy starter on Charlotte right now.

23. Ray Allen @ Tor- Ray Ray has been solid since Rondo’s return.

24. Jamal Crawford @ NO- Jamal is a vital part of the Blazers offense.  In a blowout he gets big minutes.

25. Mo Williams @ Phi- Mo will get the opportunities consistently with Billups out.

26. DeMar DeRozan vs. Bos- DeRoZ will look to continue his impressive scoring ways.

27. Landry Fields vs. LAL- Fields has the opportunity to be a major contributor to this team.

28. Jeff Teague @ Orl- Teague needs a big game to save his fantasy value.

29. Nick Young vs. Mia- 3PTM, Steal, Points machine.

30. Jameer Nelson @ Atl- Jameer will look to bounce back with a strong game.

31. Stephen Jackson @ Cle- S-Jax can disappoint you completely.  But lately he is on coach Skiles good side.

32. O.J. Mayo vs. Ind- Mayo has not taken advantage of the no “Tony Allen” situation.

33. Jason Richardson vs. Atl- J.Rich is out to prove he still has fantasy value.  Playing his best basketball of the season right now.

34. Mike Dunleavy @ Cle- Dunleavy has been playing well and should get enough PT off the bench.

Forwards:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Kevin Love vs. Dal- Love is back, and is hungry to dominate a team that lacks a big rebounder.

2. Kevin Durant @ Uta- Durant is a scoring machine.  The combo of Hayward/Miles/Howard have zero answers for the star.

3. Lebron James @ Was- LBJ will be in a blowout which could lead to a small 2nd half.

4. Blake Grifin @ Phi- Blake will be busy all game going up against the former Clipper great Elton Brand.

5. LaMarcus Aldridge @ NO- Alrdidge has his first bad game all season last game.  Now he faces New Orleans, in what should be a blowout with little playing time in the 2nd half.

6. Paul Pierce @ Tor- Pierce is playing at an elite level.

7. Josh Smith @ Orl- Josh Smith has the potential to be the most dynamic Forward in fantasy basketball.  His inconsistency is holding him back.

Tier 2- Good Start

8. Dirk Nowitzki @ Min- Dirk has been on fire lately, and will look to continue that against a mediocre T-Wolves team.

9. Rudy Gay vs. Ind- Gay is hot and should be in every fantasy lineup.

10. Danny Granger @ Mem- Granger is coming off a nice game and should be motivated to top Rudy Gay.

11. Paul Millsap vs. OKC- Millsap has a tough matchup, but he is always a solid double-double machine.

12. Kris Humphries @ Det- 11 Rebounds in the 1st half two nights ago.

13. Carlos Boozer @ Cha- Boozer could have a soft game in what should be a blowout.

14. Chris Bosh @Was- Bosh is looking at his 20-10 games in the rear view mirror.

15. Antwan Jamison vs. Mil- Jamison is red hot and should continue his ways.  His trade value is at an all-time high, and with a bad game it will drop quickly.

16. Ryan Anderson vs. Atl- Rhino is starting to build consistency.

17. Drew Gooden @ Cle- Gooden will face his old team and be extra motivated for a big game.

18. Luol Deng @ Cha- Deng may get his chances, but this should be a blowout.

19. Gerald Wallace @ NO- Wallace is very inconsistent, but he is coming off a 20 Point game.  This could be a blowout, but maybe he will be aggressive offensively.  I am going to Buy Low if he has a bad night.

Tier 3- Risky Start

20. David West @ Mem- West does not get enough consistent touches.  Tonight he has a good matchup.

21. Serge Ibaka @ Uta- Serge is a block/rebound machine and is coming off a 10 Block performance.  I do not expect a repeat but 4 is definitely possible.

22. Shawn Marion @ Min- Shawn has lost a lot of value with Dirk being a bigger part of the offense.  As long as Marion gets 30+ Minutes he can still fill up the stat sheet.

23. Caron Butler @ Phi- Caron is becoming a bigger part of the offense with Chauncey Billups done.

24. Tayshaun Prince vs. NJ- Tayshaun is getting great minutes, which makes him a useful fantasy option.

25. James Johnson vs. Bos- Gerald Wallace 2.0 is another big game away from becoming a useful fantasy starter..again.

26. Trevor Booker @ Mia- Booker has been solid as of late.  If you need a stoppage gap, look no further.

Centers:

Tier 1- Must Start

1. Dwight Howard @ Atl- Zaza prepared to be dominated.

2. Greg Monroe vs. NJ- NJ cannot stop center and Monroe should be good for another 20.

3. Pau Gasol @ NY- No PF on the Knicks can stop Gasol.  Tonight should be his offensive breakout performance.

4. Andrew Bynum @ NY- Bynum has been beasting lately.  Despite the tough matchup he should be good for a near 20-10 game.

5. Marc Gasol vs. Ind- Strong Gasol will be bodying the lanky Hibbert all night.

6. Anderson Varejao vs. Mil- Varejao has been a beast lately, and is must start in tonight’s game.

7. Al Jefferson vs. OKC- Big Al is one of the best offensive centers in the NBA.  Tonight he faces Perkins who has lost a lot of respect since the Blake dunk.

8. Tyson Chandler @ LAL- With no Melo or Amare, T-Chand is a big part of the Knicks offense.

Tier 2- Good Start

9. Joakim Noah @ Cha- He should get the double-double but tonight could be a blowout.

10. Nikola Pekovic vs. Dal- Love is back, but there is nobody that can slow down Peko in Dallas.

11. Roy Hibbert @ Mem- Hibbert has been losing touches offensively but is always solid with rebounds and blocks.

12. Javale McGee vs. Mia- Mr. Inconsistent will try to get a 20-20 type performance like Dwight Howard just did.

13. DeAndre Jordan @ Phi- DeAndre is tall, lanky, athletic, and with no Spencer Hawes the 6ers do not have anyone that can stop him.

14. Marcus Camby @ NO- Minutes could be a problem, but there should be a lot of rebounding opportunities.

15. Emeka Okafor vs. Por- Emeka is 2/2 in good games since Carl Landry has been out.

  1. Hey. I am dropping Baron Davis and have given up on him.
I am currently in 2nd place and want to build for the playoffs.
Should I pick up Brandon Knight off free agency or pick up DJ Augustin off waivers (just got dropped)?
I need assists and steals mostly, but I mostly dominate the other categories, so I may be able to live without the assists (however, I am already punting FT). Points for this PG won’t matter for me.

Other free agency PGs besides Augustin and Knight include:
Jerryd Bayless (who seems to be just a temporary pickup right now – but Calderonmay get traded), Delonte West, CJ Watson, Chris Duhon, Devin Harris (may get traded), Toney Douglas, George Hill, and Jordan Farmar. I’d only consider Baron after he shows some consistency now once he’s back.
    Thanks!

Bench-Eric Gordon, Louis Williams, Michael Beasley, Luke Ridnour, Baron Davis

  2. Oh also a side note is that I picked up Jerryd Bayless for Baron Davis…So should i drop either Bayless or Ridnour ….for Augustin or one of those guys? Thanks..

  3. Hey M,

So over the weekend I get sick of hearing how Hawes doesn’t feel right on his toes, so I drop him for Pekovic. I joked in a previous post that Hawes won’t start until the day after I drop him….and it happened! Hah! I was annoyed, but tried to get him back because of his shot blocking. I got outbid and was stuck with Pekovic. After his game vs Sac, I couldn’t be happier to have Gortat and Gortat 2.0. I’m sure he won’t be able to sustain lines like that every night, but Hawes really is having some bad luck with his achilles/back injury. Thanks for the heads up!

    Joe

  4. I would drop both Luke Ridnour and Baron Davis for Brandon Knight and Jerryd Bayless.

Luke Ridnour does get good minutes, but he cannot be depended on, and his ceiling has been reached. The only direction for Luke to head is down.

Baron Davis’s latest set back makes him waiver wire material.

Jerryd Bayless has always been an elite scoring guard, his opportunities have not always been there. The Raptors seem committed to giving him his shot, and that is enough to make him a must-own player especially after his 30 Point performance.

Brandon Knight is the future of the Pistons, and as they get eliminated from the playoffs they will run Knight out there 40 Minutes a game consistently. Before last week he was getting 35+ Minutes a game almost every night. His value will only go up as he gains more confidence as a starting PG in the NBA.

D.J. Augustin is without a time table which makes you believe he is not coming back anytime soon. When he does the Bobcats will already be eliminated.

  5. You will be much happier with Pekovic in the long run. I heard that Spencer Hawes will be out in tonight’s game, the headaches continue for his owners.

Gortat and Gortat 2.0 is a dominant combo, have fun with that.

  6. Augustin is coming back Monday. I still like the safer options in Jerryd Bayless and Brandon Knight. Augustin was never a consistent fantasy star in the past, and the Bobcats have so many rotational players who know what his value will be like once he returns.

  7. Player A is trading Russel Westbrook and Monta Ellis to Player B for Dwayne Wade, Dirk Nowitski, and Carlos Boozer.
Which person would your rather be? Why?

  8. Should I drop Vasquez for Brandon Knight since Jarret Jack has recovered?

And should I drop Delonte West for Baron Davis/Wilson Chandler?
Is picking one of the two worth it?

  9. That is an excellent trade. You stand to gain a lot in 3PTM, and points while only losing in assists. Mo Williams will see excellent playing time as well now with Billups out of the picture.

I do imagine Calderon either getting traded to sit on a bench for a contender, or losing value as Bayless dominates more, and Barbosa gets more PT off the bench.

  10. Player A wins this deal short term. Player B wins this deal long term.

The Dwayne Wade package is more appealing, but the team getting the Westbrook package should win in the end. It all depends on Dirk staying like Dirk (which I think will happen), and Boozer continuing to stay consistent (which I’m not so sure about).

    Ellis 2nd round value.
    Westbrook 1st round value.

    For.

    Wade 1st round value.
    Dirk 4th round value.
    Boozer 4th round value.

If I needed forwards desperately, and I got Dirk and Boozer along with Wade I would be extremely happy with this trade.

If I had a lot of depth at forward, and I was receiving two star guards, for two forwards who are both at an all-season high in trade value. I would be happy with this deal.

  11. Camby- His age will catchup to him random nights of the season. He has the ability to be a huge difference maker on any fantasy team. But he is a streaky player, and right now he could be in the beginning of a bad streak, after just ending a huge one.

Jackson- He is starting to find his groove again, and if he gets traded I like his value long term. With the Bucks it seems he could go either way which makes him a shaky option every week. He should continue to have nice value with Brandon Jennings struggling the way he is.

Dalembert- Jordan Hill is one big game away from taking Dalembert’s spot. His streak was nice while it happened, and the potential for it to happen again is there. For now I would bench Dalembert and wait to see someone prove on the Rockets that they deserve his spot.

  12. Yes, but I would drop West and not Vasquez.

Brandon Knight is the future of the Pistons, and as they get eliminated from the playoffs I expect Brandon Knight to make a huge jump in the fantasy world. He is getting a lot of minutes as is, but by then he will be very comfortable in the NBA. Ben Gordon is back, but I feel that will hurt Stuckey more than Knight.

Vasquez may start to get minutes at the SG spot, and PG spot which would get him near 30 a game. That is all he needs to be a good fantasy contributor. Delonte is in a crowded backcourt where consistency is not expected at all. Especially when Jason Kidd comes back.

I will be posting an article about Chandler and the Chinese players later on. Baron Davis is worthless with the emergence of Lin-City.

  13. Hello M,
Here is my lineup for tomorrow’s game Saturday, Feb. 10th:
    PG Chris Paul
    SG Mike Dunleavy
    SF LeBron James
    PF Kevin Love
    C Dwight Howard
    G Ricky Rubio
    F LeMarcus Aldridge
    UTIL Greg Monroe
    UTIL Pau Gasol
    UTIL Dirk Nowitzki
Bench: Kyle Lowery (does not play on this day), Danny Granger (@Mem), and Drew Gooden (@Cle)
Does this look like my best lineup tomorrow? Should I put Danny Granger or Drew Gooden in my starting lineup? Or Both? Thanks
    Cordially,
    Garrett

  14. If there is no way to move your lineup around so Granger plays in the place of Dunleavy then I would leave your lineup as is.

Gooden plays against his former team and should be motivated for a big performance. Granger should be solid as well in a competitive game. You cannot bench any of your Forwards or UTL spots which leave you stuck with two great bench players. At least someone else isn’t playing them.

  15. Hi M,

First time to visit your site today, it is fantastic!!

Here’s my team and lineup for tonight (2/10) — any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated. I’m in a 12 team head-to-head league and this is my first season in fantasy basketball. I’m having a blast, my team is middle of the pack at 3-4 but has been doing very well of late. Ridnour and Parsons are the shakiest guys on my roster and I expect to probably drop both for waiver replacements.

Re. tonight, assuming Rose sits out I think the biggest question is at the SG/SF (Batum on my bench) and at C/Util (currently have Gooden and Noah starting but with Pekovic on the bench).

PG Jeremy Lin (Derrick Rose on the bench due to expected back injury keeping him out or limited mins vs. CHA)
    SG Ray Allen
    SF Paul George
    PF Blake Griffin
    C Joakim Noah
    Util Drew Gooden

Bench: Pekovic, Cousins (not playing), Parsons (not playing), Batum, Chalmers, Hayward, Ridnour

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

    Jeff

  16. Thanks Jeff looking forward to having you on Beast Dome.

Your team has good potential when all our healthy and playing. You could definitely waive the bottom of Hayward and Ridnour from your bench.

The only debate for tonight, is either Gooden or Pekovic at the UTL spot.

I like Gooden to be extra motivated to put up a strong performance against his old team.

I agree in your situation with Lin

Lin is too hot to be on the bench in any fantasy league. Rose may not play the whole game just because of a blowout situation.

  17. Thanks for the feedback M — tough to keep Pekovic on the bench but I agree with you on Gooden. Will be fun to see how it all comes out…
