MUNTRADAMUS TOP 10 BUSTS

By Muntradamus

BEAST DOME NATION.

In order to make this list the Expert Consensus of the player I mention has to rank them as a starter in standard 12 Team Leagues.

I don’t even see them as viable options and should not even be drafted in leagues with shallow benches.

FANTASY BASEBALL 2015

MUNTRADAMUS TOP 10 BUSTS

#1

COLE HAMELS – PHI – SP

Muntradamus RANK #50

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #11

Cole Hamels is a pretty garbage pitcher. Yes the contract and his past success has carried his name pretty far, but for the most part you have a Lefty who throws hanging curve balls. In that little play pen in Philly they call a baseball field, teams will constantly be liting up the soft lefty who is on the downhill days of his career. The arm injury in 2012 was the end as he has never been the same since.

#2

COREY DICKERSON – COL – OF

Muntradamus RANK #66

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #13

Corey Dickerson is the most overrated Fantasy Baseball player in today’s game. Daily Fantasy Sites even have Corey Dickerson as more expensive than Hanley Ramirez in salary cap leagues. Dickerson was the beneficiary of the Carlos Gonzalez injury last season, and this season CarGo is ready to go opening day. While you may think Right Field is all Dickerson’s, if he struggles against lefties they will quickly go to Drew Stubbs who is good enough to be a starter on most teams as the designated left handed pitcher RF option. That cuts Dickerson’s games in half, his timing will be thrown off, you have a BUST in the making.

#3

MOOKIE BETTS – BOS – OF/2B

Muntradamus RANK #87 (OF) #25 (2B)

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #28 (OF)  #10 (2B)

People are raving that Mookie Betts is the real deal. Why? Because he was semi-decent to close out the season on a minor league Red Sox team? Mookie will have trouble seeing the field everyday. If Shane Victorino is doing his thing, he will play everyday. Hanley will play everyday. That leaves Jackie Bradley and Rusney Castillo, as well as Allen Craig. While Bradley and Castillo may start the season in the minors, if Betts does not deliver early and often the Red Sox will make moves. Castillo was paid $72 Million, Victorino can play Center Field to make room for Craig. Mookie Betts will not be an everyday player.unnamed

#4

XANDER BOGARETS – BOS – SS

Muntradamus RANK #23

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #12

Read above regarding Mookie Betts and lack of playing time. The same type of pressure falls on Xander who can easily be replaced with Hanley Ramirez at SS to make extra room in the OF. While the Red Sox know Xander is their future, he could end up sitting here and there if all the OF options are too good to be true. A lot of risk with Xander especially with the fact he did nothing last season.

#5

CHRISTIAN YELICH – MIA – OF

Muntradamus RANK #61

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #23

Yelich is a great BEAST FRANCHISE player. He gets on base consistently and will hit for a nice average. Why he does not make a good Fantasy Player for season long leagues is his lack of power and speed. 10 HRs would be a very nice year, 10 SBs would be a very nice year. I expect him to do better than both of those numbers, but not by much and batting 2nd will not help any of that. Yelich is overrated, I can find plenty of 12/12 guys.

#6

JAKE ARRIETA – CHC – SP

Muntradamus RANK #46

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #21

Arrieta proved Jon Lester will make an easy transition to the NL Central. Jake is good, but he is very hittable. Look for players to make better contact off of Jake and see the real Arrieta come to play. He may have solid numbers across the board, but there are 45 other pitchers who I believe in more. Completely based off of talent.

#7

TYSON ROSS – SD – SP

Muntradamus RANK #58

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #26

While Ross is pitching well this Spring and is a good pitcher. There are plenty of starters I rather have over Tyson as he is not the most consistent. The Padres should get him more wins this season, but Tyson Ross is no Michael Pineda and Experts have Ross way higher.

#8

CARLOS CARRASCO – CLE – SP

Muntradamus RANK #67

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #28

Wow when did Carrasco become a Top 30 SP. Sure he had a nice end of 2014, but he is completely unproven and the AL Central will give him plenty of opportunities to have bad outings. Carrasco is way too much of a gamble and there are so many pitchers like Jered Weaver I would rather trust than Carlos Carrasco.

#9

GLENN PERKINS – MIN – RP

Muntradamus RANK #29

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #12

The Twins will not be winning many games this season. Glenn Perkins is a good RP, but he will not get a lot of saves and that is why you draft a closer, right? Perkins should finish with less than 30 saves and he will kill you in weekly leagues.

#10

ALEX WOOD – ATL – SP

Muntradamus RANK #76

EXPERT CONSENSUS RANK #23

Joke of the year. Alex Wood is the clone of Cole Hamels but way worse. The Braves are a horrible team and should experience their worst season in quite some time. That soft curve ball will be launched at least once a game, either that or the hits will rack up. Alex Wood should not be on Fantasy Rosters this season.

  1. He also has Tyson Ross!!!! He’s going DOWN! Down goes the champ! Were winning it all this year Munt!!!!!!!!!

  2. You are so off base with all these predictions. The only ones that you may be right about are Yellich, Betts, and Hamels. The rest are going to be studly….I’ll put money on that.

  3. Its only Week 1. Check back at All-Star Break to Judge.

Some good (Mookie Betts). Some bad so far (Jake Arrieta). But like I said. Only Week 1.
